We had quite expectations of The Rum Fox as it had been recommended to us by several people but sadly it fell short of the mark! Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, it took a very long time to be served at the bar and although the staff were very pleasant they seemed inexperienced and in short supply. We felt pretty much ignored throughout the time we stayed and several times had to search for staff to serve us. When finally we attracted a lady's attention she apologised and offered us a round of drinks on the house, but the service continued to be absent. Having said this, the food was lovely (especially the starters), and the place itself very characterful! Whilst travelling home we chatted about our experience and concluded that it was pretty much underwhelming.

Food was excellent as always, we both had the set lunch which was very good value for money.The doddington soufflé was delicious and my tomato starter was beautifully presented,as I rarely eat meat I thought for a change I would try the pork and was not disappointed it was cooked to perfection.Despite the bar area having few guests the log fire was lit and provided a lovely background warmth on a cloudy autumnal afternoon.. A very enjoyable lunch !

Lovely meal as always. First time we have sat in the Garrison Room but it was a great atmosphere and very relaxed. Would definitely recommend it.

A warm and friendly welcome by the staff. Food was excellent - will be back to try more on the menu Staff were attentive with the tasting menu for other customers A good variety of good choice with costs too

This is our third time to The Run Fox, the food is always delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable.

Food very good and certainly plenty of it. Staff very helpful and attentive. Noise levels ok when we were there but I can imagine at busy times it can get a little much.
