Went to The Saint for a family meal, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. The selection of cocktails was amazing, and all the food we had was great - especially the deserts!
Service was fantastic despite the busy environment, however, my party were not especially satisfied with their food portions – the food itself tasted great! It was also quite warm (I was sweating!) but overall a pleasant dining experience and will go again on a less busy and crowded evening.
Lovely evening at The Saint! Terrific food, attentive service. Thank you!
The Saint has a pleasant atmosphere and nice surroundings. the food was good but for the price the portions were very stingy
Menu selections were great and a terrific drink menu. My lamb was amazing, but unfortunately the service was terrible. She completely skipped over someone for a drink and food order. She didn't seem overwhelmed she just seemed apathetic. We were constantly trying to get our her attention. Luckily the bus staff were there. I feel they may have taken more orders from us than she did.
We were seated before a very large table came in, we ordered 2 drinks and waited over 15 minutes for them as our “check got lost” and the large table received all their drinks.
When ordering, the piggy black burger it was not explained that the black pudding was actually inside the burger so when swapping the pork burger for a beef one we just got a beef burger with apple and fennel which was really disappointing. After we had finished eating we moved our plates to the side to wait to be cleared and around 10 minutes later after 4 staff members walked past us we were finally cleared. Asked for bill and left straight away.
The courtyard was a fabulous place to have pre-dinner drinks. Our server was fantastic. My burger was from a different species !!! Others loved their meal. Great place to enjoy an evening with friends.
Great place, great waiter, only down side a group at the next table who didn’t have a volume button??
This was a lunch to celebrate my mum’s 92nd birthday. Along with me and mum were my daughter and her 7 week old baby boy. Our first table was not very suitable for him and the staff were so helpful in moving us to another table. Service was excellent as well as the food. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. In fact I have already done so to two friends!
The service was very slow - we arrived at 7 and left at 9.15! The waitress did her best but obviously there was a lack of staff. The chicken my mother in law had was very dry and she couldn't eat it. However our meals were tasty....when they eventhally arrived
Food was reasonable
Pimp your prosecco was an awesome shout and the hake was delicious, as was strawberry sundae
The Saint didn’t disappoint. Good quality food, pleasant setting and child friendly. Big thumbs up from our kids who are the harshest of critics, so we’ll be back.
Only our 2nd time there but won't be our last. The food was excellent and piping hot. Staff were efficient, friendly and always smiling. A real treat.
Fab service and food . A favourite for us in St Andrews.
Service was ridiculously slow! There were very few other busy tables to excuse the slow service. We were constantly asked if we wanted more drinks ‘while we waited’ & we all (5 of us) found this pretty irritating to be honest.
On the positive side my friend’s birthday was marked by a special tray of yummy goodies!
We had a large group with children and our waiter was unflappable. Food was decent, good atmosphere
Food arrived very very quickly, even though we had to wait a while for our drinks order before they took the food order (were only 3 of us) we had 2 courses within minutes of ordering to be fair with the main course coming as soon as starter was finished. We were in no hurry so it felt a bit rushed until they left us alone after the main and we had to ask for the dessert menu. (We did decide to have ice cream from the ice cream shop though!)
Decent size portions and very tasty. Very nice surroundings.
Great service, amazing food. Highly recommend The Saint.
The service was very slow out food was served almost one hour later . Our meals were alright but dessert of stickey toffee pudding was extremely sweet .
We ordered two beef steak sandwich, pan fried duck, avocado salad & pea soup. The portions were small, duck was chewy & rare, the avocado salad was warm. Soup was only warm. The waitress should have asked how we wanted the meat to be cooked as the beef & duck was too rare for our liking. Recooking made the taste different. The environment is good , staff ok but could be better.
Very relaxing venue. Hard working staff. Lovely gin garden. Comfy seats. Food good.
Bed comfy- rooms could do with an update but GHD hairdryer and straightners in room!
This restaurant exceeded my expectations. It was beautiful and bright and refined. The service and food was both impeccable and the waitress took our cues for a slow pace of the meal. We do not feel rushed during our leisurely lady lunch. Highly recommend this place
Great food wasn’t busy , we felt the menu was quite limited
Thank you so much. I asked you for a table in the window for my daughter taking her Dad out for a birthday treat and that’s exactly what you gave them. They loved it!
We had a lovely meal in the Saint. The little booth we were seated in was great, the food delicious and the service was spot on. A really enjoyable evening!
Was looking forward to lunch which had booked. Arrived and were put at a terrible table for two which was squashed next to the cutlery serving area when there were no other customers in room. Waitress said nothing and then left us for ages. Never came to take drinks order or anything and wasn't at all busy. Eventually got up and left. Very disappointing, won't be back.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was very good. We shall return soon.
We were at The Saint on Friday evening.Very good meal. It was very busy and noisy when we arrived but it didn’t bother us. Only complaint was my friend asked for Bacardi and coke and was given something else (?havana). This was rectified once she complained.
Delicious food; I enjoyed the MacNCheese very much - really tasty! And my friend had the duck which she polished off. The desserts were also good. It was a noisy Friday night, but we were thankful to be placed in a small booth of our own for the meal, so that was much appreciated. Service was prompt and with a smile. I will be back!
Food was okay, service wasn’t too great had to ask for water 3/4 times until we actually received it.
Very nice looking restaurant. Food was ok and service to very long time to bring out meal. Been 3 times now just to make sure it was not a one off event. Unfortunately it's was not.
Good food. Restaurant let down by dirty toilets. Despite two of our group telling staff that ladies toilets were messy, nothing was done about it. An explanation given was that they were short staffed as hadn't expected to be so busy. This was surprising given it was the Easter holiday weekend in a seaside town.
We have eaten here previously and had no complaints, so Saint...get your act together. Messy toilets are not what people expect in a restaurant of your standard.
the Poor waitress.... there was only her, one person on, waited over an hour for a toaste!!!
Good food and service in comfortable environment- but very noisy due to some large groups
The table we were given would have been more appropriate for a couple rather than two friends out for lunch. My friend was hidden in the corner and did not get a feel for the place or feel that she was part of the general dining experience.
I was dining on my own and was attended to beautifully by my waitress. I opted to sit upstairs in the quieter lounge area, looking out onto the garden area.
I started with the scallops which were delicious and then had the duck. The duck came with root vegetables and a dark jus, which was tasty but the duck would have been nicer presented in slices instead of two large pieces. I had the Mellis cheeseboard for dessert-there were enough cheeses and oatcakes but the black grapes were not as fresh as they could have been. I washed all of this down with a sweet rose wine. It wasn’t cheap but I felt it was value for money.
The building is very cute. It’s decorated in an appropriately chic way. Location is very good and central. We were pleased with the salads and entrees. Scottish gnocchi is different than Italian so that is a bit of a change but not bad. Everything was good. The service is somewhat slow but all around quite nice and probably the best we experienced in St Andrews.
Soup was cold, too long for main course to come, and the chunky chips were hard. Also, this is the first time we have been charged tax on the meal.
My husband and I always lunch in The Saint even before it changed name, but unfortunately will not return.
Very accommodating especially with friend who required GF menu. She was delighted with her special GF fish and chips. Comfortable and look forward to visiting outside terrace when weather gets warmer
