Disappointing. Booked a table and was then sent a menu. Arrived on night to find a very different menu being served - basic pub food like burgers and pies. Spoke to manager - he blamed it on covid, yet other restaurants didn't seem to be affected. Not a great atmosphere or welcome so left to go elsewhere. Got a lovely meal at The Adamson.
The starter took 45 mins to arrive and not cooked properly. The second course also took too long and staff needed to be reminded that we were waiting. It was awful. It was the worst meal I have had in years.
The services very slow but when the staff came to the table they were excellent.
We enjoyed yet another fabulous time in the garden. Great setup and service. Food great. Totally made us relax and enjoy time with our friends.
Well organised for COVID safety. Excellent staff. Good food
Dined there on Monday as part of group of 4 & dog! Eat out to help out scheme in place so great value for money! Excellent social distancing measures in place, sanitisers on tables, one way system & temp taken on arrival. Felt safe & enjoyed our dining experience...thank you
Always enjoy a visit to The Saint in St Andrews. Enjoyed drinks in the beer garden and were attended by extremely friendly efficient staff
Limited menu and slower service expected due to COVID but no Haddock on a Saturday night with a limited menu was poor management.
I have always been a promoter of The Saint but at best the food would be classed as over priced pub food so very disappointed.
We had a lovely lunch under a parasol, in the walled, hidden garden at the back of The Saint. Staff really helpful. Very well organised for social distancing, temperature check, sanitizing tables, one way system but atmosphere very relaxed and friendly. Food good, standard pub grub and not expensive. My husband, son and I had a really nice time and would recommend to everyone.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review about your recent experience with us. We are so delighted about your comments about our team and our safety measures. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.
Lunch food was average. One course with one drink and coffee for four people, £65.
First time out since start of lockdown and felt totally safe!
Thank you :)
This was our first experience in a beer garden/restaurant since lockdown. We felt at ease and the staff were all friendly. The covid measures were in place and all staff we could see were following the procedures. Would recommend especially in times where knowing whether restaurants are taking these measures seriously is so important. We were just in for drinks, we had a few cocktails and a couple of pints. We've booked to eat next time and looking forward to it.
Booking was easy, required measures in site all appropriate staff extremely personable, food n drink superb. All round 5⭐️
Went recently and enjoyed the outside area at the back. Restaurant was very professional with recent requirements for COVID-19. We paid a second visit at the end of the week after just a good visit first time round.
Fantastic place. Well set up and following all covid regulations. Well done
Lovely establishment . We’ve eaten there a couple of times when visiting St Andrews . A well run establishment , good food & service . Excellent Covid procedures in place too
Amazing food, good service. A little noisy and slow service at times due to how busy it was but we understood that. Will defos be back and will be recommending to people.
The serving staff were amazing! We absolutely loved how friendly and pleasant they were. The outdoor seating could have been nice but for the chairs which were awfully uncomfortable and did not accommodate social distancing. The menu was changed and the website was not updated with it so we were a bit disappointed to see a smaller range of less than impressive list of dishes- which were enjoyable but nothing special. Overall, I don't think I would return to the Saint.
Awful service. All tables had to be pre booked however no where near enough floor and bar staff working. No excuse if pre booking was required. Shocking time to get a drink. Even had to leave drink to be able to reach a dinner reservation after.
Very good visit on Eat out to Help out. Food was really good, just one criticism would be that the fried could have been crispier! Staff were attentive without being pushy.
Good covid measures and really good food. Loved the black pudding hash starter.
Standards have slipped since lockdown, good was boring, bland and cold
Friendly atmosphere, lovely staff and fabulous food. X
Food was great, service was very friendly and Professional! Alissa looked after us very well last night, great with customers, really bubbly and smiley personality
In spite of Covid-19 precautions the atmosphere still felt very normal. Staff all very attentive, smiley and friendly. The menu is currently advertised as restricted but still sufficient choice and the food was excellent quality, well presented and decent sized portions.
Good pub grub, nice setting and effective distancing. Relaxed and enjoyable.
Great food, lovely garden, reasonably priced, service a bit slow
I can appreciate a reduced menu however on the day we visited (Sunday) it was 18:45 and the haddock & chunky chips option and daily special (roast beef) had sold out leaving a very very reduced menu (accepted given current Covid issues).
Mine and my sons cheese burgers were fine, very nice beef burgers in-fact, however the same could not be said about my partners Mac & Cheese as this was beyond charred on top, it was burnt. This meal came with garlic bread and unfortunately this garlic bread was again more than chargrilled or blackened it was badly burnt.
I understand mistakes can happen however this badly burnt offering managed to get out to service past the chef and the server that served it which should not have happened.
On complaining, the original Mac & Cheese dish was left intact with us, and a new piece of garlic bread brought out relatively quickly, and although not as bad as the first this was again burnt all down the edge on one side... how did this happen when a complaint had already been made about the same??
When it came to pay the server asked if everything had been ok, I purely passed comment on the burnt garlic bread and the server quickly asked if I wanted that meal taking off the bill... I agreed and although my partner had not enjoyed her meal as she should have (she managed to eat half of it..) the offer to discount the bill was a saving grace for The Saint..
This is an often used establishment for my friends and I for drinks but this was the first time I’d tried food here with my family, therefore given the current situation regarding the pandemic I will give The Saint another go as the waiting staff were as helpful and friendly as they could be.
All I’d suggest is that the servers are actively encouraged to challenge a clearly unacceptable dish that they’re asked to serve if the situation arises in the future as that burnt garlic bread should never had made it to our table...
Very reassuring Covid safe venue. Plenty of sanitisers, cleaning and social distancing.
The fish and chips were recommended as was the venue however they had none in stock at 5pm on a Sunday.
Great lunch in a very chilled out sunny beer garden. Service was excellent and was all within COVID guidelines. The steak sandwich was super!
Great help and very safe feel to the place gvery well done
Bad news first. We’d booked an outside table but were sat inside. As the weather had turned chilly, we didn’t actually mind and I’m sure if we’d asked they’d have found an outside table for us. The service was excellent and the waiting staff were friendly. Every effort has been made to put customers at ease during these difficult times and we felt very relaxed at all times.
The food was good and reasonably priced and there’s an excellent choice of drinks.
We really enjoyed our visit.
During this ongoing Covid situation we felt very safe and well looked after. Well done to the staff at The Saint!
Good service and welcoming staff we ordered chicken open sandwich and macaroni cheese to be honest sandwich dry and mac and cheese not the best. For a condensed menu would expect what is offered is the best but didn't impress sorry 😐
Nice beer garden. Food was average and quite pricey for portion size. Staff friendly although no placemats and table had food spilt from previous diners.
Really nice restaurant, food was fantastic however we did wait over an hour for our main meal....
Good Covid procedures in place with staff wearing masks and temperatures taken at the entrance. Food was from a much more restricted menu than previously but good. (Steak pie/fish &Chips/steak Sandwich/Salads etc.) The restaurant appeared fairly busy. We had booked a table outside but for some reason that wasn't available, so we had to eat inside which was disappointing, therefore, we did not stay as long as we had intended.
Due to current climate, obviously things were different and limited menu.
The Med sandwich - £7.50 - floppy bread, oily peppers and courgettes, halloumi was nice - not sign whatsoever of the hummus that was meant to be with it. Could have been much better with, for example, toasted bread or on a nice baguette, and some hummus! Chose not to have side dish as thought this would be enough. Wish I had! Very overpriced.
Partner had deerstalker burger - very bland, served in rather measly looking roll with dressing served under the burger (??) and chips. Overpriced as well. He said it was the worst burger he's had and he normally eats them when we are out!!
Did not complain at the time, as it's restricting enough trying to talk to people without getting too close and through visors. Disappointing as was in St Andrews for the night - first time away from home since before lockdown
Booked a table originally going via their website. I went into the 'garden' section of the website and scrolled to the bottom of that page where I followed a link to make a booking. Selected a date and time, and turned up to be seated in the bar area on some stools, when we assumed we'd booked the beer garden. This really should have been made clearer, as it was a beautiful day and we were disappointed to be sat inside. We did query this at the time to be told outside was full. I ordered a pornstar maritini cocktail and it was disgusting. It tasted as though it was pre-mixed from a carton and felt ripped off being charged £7.60 for it.
We all enjoyed our food at the Saint which is a really clean and nicely decorated pub restaurant. The service was also very good with polite, friendly staff who were attentive. The hygiene and protection measures in place made us all feel safe and we will definitely return on our next visit to St. Andrews .
The Saint is rated 4.2 stars by 237 OpenTable diners.
