Beautiful local produce especially meats and cheeses.. Delicious cakes. Good value for money. Will definitely make it a regular place to visit in both Wareham and Swanage.
Amazing food, good portion sizes and really accommodating for a fussy child.
Can’t wait to go again.
Meat was to “die for” on the venison; the veg was over cooked; great experience
Best roast dinner I have ever had out!
Very generous portion
Food was amazing and staff were so comforting and welcoming.
Not our first visit to the Salt Pig Too and it won't be our last. Anyone planning to visit should be aware that there's a much reduced menu at lunch time, other than on a Sunday, though.
Always a dilemma when taking the full english - what should and should not be included - my waistline and cholesterol are grateful, but my primitive man is not sated. But i keep coming back.
Food as ever excellent, lovingly presented and a great cup of tea.
Any chance of an extras menu to go with the standard menu?
However I do hope the Lockdown 2.0 gives you chance to attend to the toilets again - they are not great - and most gentlemen whilst standing would like the seat/lid to remain upright and not have to be held up!!
Great atmosphere- lovely food and friendly service
Absolutely incredible!
The food was delicious, we had chicken wings to start followed by a massive pork chop! It was amazing!
The chef cooked in an open fire oven in the restaurant area so you could see your food being prepared which was amazing. And then after the meal he came round to each table to check we’d enjoyed it-we certainly did :)
Definite 5*s from us-we’ll be back ASAP!
Disappointed to find the menu to be more limited than the example published online.
Food was of average quality and of average price.
Service was acceptable without being very personable.
Toilet facilities left much to be desired... no provision to dry hands either by paper towels or air dryer... seemed in need of a good clean.
Broken glass found on bench seating.
Table sticky and also needing a good clean.
Will not be returning!
We had such a fantastic meal. I had one of the best burgers I'd ever eaten. My husband is a Coeliac + is on a gluten free diet. He had a pork chop that was flavoursome, tender, juicy + delicious. The chargrilled pineapple for desert was amazing! When we holiday in Swanage again, we will return!
We booked through Open Table which apparently was new to the restaurant and we arrived to find our table taken which wasn't a great start. However, the staff made up a new table just for us and were very apologetic. This minor bump was worth it as the food was just superb and the staff friendly and attentive.
Servings were a good size, perfect for me, if not a little too much for my wife. Kids portions well sized too. All was served in good time, on a lovely platter and was very tasty.
We would highly recommend The Salt Pig and will certainly revisit next time we're in the area. We even came away with a takeaway bag from the butcher and bakery!!
Booking is essential here as its a popular spot and we saw plenty of people without a booking turned away.
Relaxed, informal atmosphere. Shabby chic decor, some interesting paintings on the wall by, I assume, a local artist - I had a huge cow's head staring out at me from a canvas as I ate my delicious, giant-sized slice of quiche crammed with veggies and flavoured with strong, mature cheddar. My octagenarian mother and teenage son also had the quiche, with potato salad and green leaves - all v satisfied with the food and the eating out experience.
There was no attempt to make the venue COVID safe. I doubt any tables had been removed or any precautions had been taken since COVID. Tables were very close together easily sub meter between chairs. Menus were paper but being reused.
Food was food good and as a small business wiener I’m usually forgiving but this was not OK. We are all reliant on each other to make an effort, protect each other an allow the broader economy to reopen.
We were a party of 4 and had the Sunday roast! We were not disappointed and would certainly recommend a visit. Be prepared to leave with a fully tummy!
Excellent food. Friendly and quick service, even though it was a busy Sunday lunchtime.
