The Salt Room
Recent winner of the Seafish UK Restaurant of the Year 2017 our menu champions sustainability and showcases the very best local produce.
Continuing the ethos of sharing plates like our sister restaurant, The Coal Shed, our menu champions sustainability and showcases the very best local produce.
Located opposite Brighton’s West Pier, our seaside restaurant has the best sea views which can be enjoyed from our glass fronted mezzanine or for alfresco dining on our shaded terrace. The Private Dining Room allows for a larger party to enjoy the views and menu in style.
Extremely good service with great recommendations from our server, especially the wine! Asked for a dry white and it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted! Lovely evening for our first visit to Brighton.
The food is overpriced for what you get.
Don't order the prawns as they don't clean them and leave the lovely digestive track in. You also can't open them so I lost one to the floor.
Dessert took longer to arrive than the mains
No mints or sweets with our heavy bill, and they take a 12.5%tip!
Feedback card was given with my bill, but no pen.
Told waiter about my prawns, but clearly he did not tell management.
Will not go back and do not recommend it.
Save your money!
Fabulous time here for afternoon tea with a twist.... I've only been once before for dinner and the 2nd time didn't disappoint us. We will be back again soon. Thank you
Excellent food, perfect balance of flavours. Couldn't fault the service. Best meal we've had for a while, and certainly the best we've had in Brighton. Very accommodating of our baby too.
Simply Amazing Evening, The Atmosphere was perfect
Wow amazing food, customer service top notch and great environment.
One if the top three on Brighton for sure
The food was spectacular. Every course was spot on. We will be going back for sure!
The food is good but not great making the value dubious.
While our individual server was good, the restaurant did not tell us that, presumably because we'd booked a table for 6.15 using OpenTable, we'd be expected to leave within 2 hours. That's fine if you understand the expectation in advance; but a brisk requirement to move half-way through coffee, followed by a swiftly arriving bill we hadn't yet asked for, left a bad taste in one's mouth and dampened any of the good feelings the evening have engendered. We left feeling this was more about maximising covers than providing patrons with the experience the they are payable Ng (quite a lot) for.
Huge contrast to the warm atmosphere and friendly care at 'Food for Friends' a couple of hundred yards away.
Came for my wife’s birthday and the meal was faultless. Steak was perfect and service was friendly and professional. Great for a special occasion.
Always a good experience with great service. The food has always been very good to excellent.
Great food, ambience and good value. Highly recommend!
The service was excellent, the food incredible and the overall experience was amazing...
Great food and lovely service. The crab salad starter was amazing. The halibut main was a little on the small side as were the side order of fries but so tasty! Venison was melt in the mouth good. The cheese course was very good and a decent amount too. Wine carafes are a great idea with an excellent list to choose from.
Lovely food and excellent service by friendly and efficient staff. Will be going back again soon.
The fish dishes were fantastic, we had hake, octopus and sea bass cerviche, beautifully cooked (or marinated in the case of the cerviche!) and beautifully presented. We also had venison which was cooked to perfection. The staff were incredible, not intrusive, available when required and generally knowledgable and friendly.
Really delicious and well thought-out dishes. Service was friendly and welcoming. Very reasonably priced for the quality and level of service, and it’s prime position on the seafront and view of the old pier!
Excellent lunch in every way, although service could have been a bit quicker
Overall, our visit was fairly good. We’ll visit again. It’s a shame your wines are just so EXPENSIVE.
It’s not reasonable to be charging £30 to £40 for wines costing just £6 to £8 pounds.
Celebrated new year with friends, staff were amazing ( louise especially ) and food was fabulous
Perfect way to end the year with my girlfriend. Looked after by Holly all night with our beautiful 5 course meal and champagne. Thank you Salt Room!
Wonderful service and wonderful food. Highly recommend. The staff are super friendly and trained on the menu.
A very lovely afternoon tea on New Year's Eve. Not the usual sandwiches, but an array of pescatarian delights alongside gorgeous sweet treats. Recommend.
Just amazing seafood, highly recommend the surfboard
Fabulous food and wonderful service. I will definitely go back there when next in Brighton. Oh and the most lush cocktail - I can't remember it's exact name but something like Lemon Sherbet - delicious and not sweet.
Outstanding food and service.
Someone in the kitchen understands flavour, and uses some unusual flavour-combinations to produce stunning, and surprising, food.
Can't wait to go again.
Fab visit. First time and was really well looked after. Food amazing. We had the sharing roast. The table location wasn’t the best as was near the kitchen and there was a lot of traffic. That’s all I could think of that wasn’t 5 star. Planning another visit soon.
Lovely meal at the Salt Room - third year in a row we've been for my husband's birthday. Food is excellent, and they are accommodating with children. Highly recommend.
Overall a good experience, not too many good restaurants in Brighton - worth the visit.
Great food, great staff, had a lovely time with my family
Great food and great service!
Fantastic food and waitress. We had the same waitress 2 years ago and her enthusiasm and passion for the restaurant is fantastic.
Lovely food and ambience. Only downfall was the wait between the starter and the main.
We love the Salt Rooms but disappointed with this visit. The main size portions are more like starter size, we had fish stew which was very tasty but not enough of it. We were told that there were no mussels in the stew only to find that there were. Unfortunately we won't be rushing back as there are many restaurants in Brighton that beat this restaurant for value for money.
Excellent food, % a very good menu. Atmosphere was good, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. A great evening and we'll be going back soon.
Don't drink G&T its £14.50
Food, service, goddess choice of wind
Excellent food as was the service. Delicious pud which has given me ideas!
Excellent food, very friendly and efficient service - not cheapest place in town- good location particularly on a nice day which was not when we visited
Excellent evening, good food, great service with a good pace throughout the meal. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends.
It’s a lovely place full of lovely food and lovely staff! We’ve been here in summer and winter and it’s perfect all year round. Beautiful fresh produce cooked really well... we’re going back in New Year too for Sunday lunch!
Monkfish for two after poached halibut - divine!
The food was amazing but we weren’t expecting that it would take that long to get the food.
