The Salt Room
Recent winner of the Seafish UK Restaurant of the Year 2017 our menu champions sustainability and showcases the very best local produce.
Continuing the ethos of sharing plates like our sister restaurant, The Coal Shed, our menu champions sustainability and showcases the very best local produce.
Located opposite Brighton’s West Pier, our seaside restaurant has the best sea views which can be enjoyed from our glass fronted mezzanine or for alfresco dining on our shaded terrace. The Private Dining Room allows for a larger party to enjoy the views and menu in style.
It was really lovely and we definitely felt safe with our kid after a long lockdown.
Good choice of food, flavour and quality of cooking excellent. Lovely to have the option of sitting on the terrace
The salt room is a lovely experience with great food and service!
Great food, service and view. The cocktails and wine menu were also good. I will return.
Very attentive staff. Great social distancing measures in place.
Food amazing. Went on a Sunday lunch time and had the steak tartare, seafood platter for two and a chocolate bar for desert.
Slightly limited menu and I was disappointed that the ‘Taste of the Pier’ desert was not available as I have been wanting to come to this restaurant for this.
Despite that, great all round experience and would highly recommend
Service was good but very little social distancing from staff and no masks at all which was disconcerting in these COVID-19 times. Other restaurants did brief diners and were careful. In normal circumstances I’d say great but unlikely to go back because of this till after the emergency has passed.
The food and drink was superb.
Excellent bounce back from lockdown. Great service, great food - first time there and we shall be recommending it to everyone we know who is local or going to Brighton.
Fantastic food, amazing scallops, lovely staff, really good value
This is the 3rd time we have been to the Salt Room for dinner and it has been lovely each time. The food is amazing, the waiter was attentive and friendly and the cocktails were great. Highly recommend!
Our first meal out since lockdown. Simply superb, well organised to make us feel safe - delicious food and great and attentive service. Perhaps a bit too much to drink but that shows we were having a fun time! Many thanks - we will be back
Just a fantastic restaurant across the board, prime location, delicious food, attentive and welcoming staff.
Excellent food the best pudding I’ve ever had,t bone steak beautifully cooked and well presented, salad excellent
the staff are attentive and seem very happy in their work!
Amazing location, brilliant food (really!). A bit noisy with the seafront traffic, and the waiting staff are getting used to the COVID procedures which is understandable! It’s a challenging time. But overall, A great experience!
The food can not be faltered but it was freezing cold in there and unfortunately the place was dirty. Not the experience I expected for the money.
Great food and lovely seaside location
First visit on reopening. Great experience felt totally comfortable. Food great as ever could eat the Mackerel ‘Nduja, every day of my life! 🥂
Excellent seafood would recommend sea bass for two. Lovely sitting on the terrace in the sun.
No better place to escape lockdown! Friendly service, great ambiance, busy enough for a good buzz with great food and wine, assisted by a couple of vodkas. Again highly recommended!
Our 2nd meal out in Brighton since lockdown. Everything was perfect service, ambiance and the food was excellent. Our first time here and would recommend it to everyone.
Lovely food as always! Plus delish wine and great service
Went for a meal with my husband and toddler and we were so impressed. The staff made us feel safe and really welcome. Very impressed with their health and safety. The food was excellent as ever. My husband LOVED the turbot special. I had the mackerel nduja and lemon sole which were both very good.
We went to The Salt Room for my birthday. It was our first time in Brighton and we heared about the restaurant on some reviews. My boyfriend is vegetarian so the choice of the restaurant was taken to satisfy me especially, but he was able to have a vegetarian dinner as well and he was very happy because his dishes were as tasty as mine.
My monkfish was amazing and the dessert as well and I was definitely surprised by the portion of the snack, not small at all and easily digestible.
The waitress was very kind and careful about the new safety rules.
Overall a great experience and we definitely come back here!
The food and wine were both excellent. Holly was our server and she was outstanding. She was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. We were celebrating a birthday and your birthday truffle was a very thoughtful touch. A great evening in exceptional circumstances.
Fabulous good. Lovely ambiance. Safe working practice in this new era.
Everything was perfect. They even did me a birthday message on a plate (asking whether it was a special occasion or not)
I always usually have the surfboard for the awesome flavour and amount you share.
This time you charged £5 more and gave power quality and almost half less.
Cray fish is tastless amd that was what took up most of the plate. The plate had a few prawns and just a poor selection. It was barely enough for one not 2 people.to share.
I will definitely not. Order that again and may even consider not coming again as that's what I love to eat.
We went for our first dinner after the lockdown. It is in a very nice location on the side of the Metropole Hotel with seafront views. The menu was limited but original and with choices for vegetarian, meat eaters or fish eaters. We had minkfish chheks and ventresca as a starter, and monkfish un chorizo sauce and tarbot for main. All delicious, tasty and with an original twist. Size of the portions about right. The waiters were nearby and dealt with requests very quickly. The wine list is ample, but a bit pricey. Service was friendly and eficient. There was enough distance between tables.
This was such a lovely delicious post lockdown meal. The servers were friendly and glad to welcome people back and the food was amazing.
We had a lovely meal, our server was great, really friendly! We shall be back 😊
Food is excellent as always. Service is great and toilets clean with sanitation stations to reassure
First meal out after lockdown . We went for my lovely daughter bday . The food was fresh and tasty . The service was brilliant we felt very well looked after and even had a complimentary bottle of fizz . Ross was charming and very helpful . Thank you .I would highly recommend the Restaurant and the experience .
We booked for my husband’s 60th birthday - the after restaurants reopened after Covid lockdown. We’ve been many times before and as ever the experience was amazing. Excellent customer service, gorgeous food and a really lovely relaxing setting. Just love it here!
The shellfish platter used to be amazing but now you get the following each: 3 langoustines, 1 oyster, half a squid and lots of steamed mussels (bland), plus a share of fries and a small salad. That costs £60 for 2 people.
Lovely evening - our first meal out since lockdown. The menu was great and all our food was cooked to perfection, service excellent too. It was great to return to one of favourite restaurants!
A superb meal with exceptional food and excellent and friendly service. Best place in town!
Very nice restaurant great food reasonable pricing except drinks
Great place, great food. Good service. Social distancing rules were kept.
Amazing food, atmosphere, and value for money. Would thoroughly recommend.
