Had a fantastic anniversary lunch here. The vegetarian options are amazing and tasty. The fish was cooked well and the service provided was top notch. Goes to show you don’t need to be in London to have good food out
Great food, setting and service. The food was delicious, and the dessert was inventive and fun (Taste of the Pier). We were sat by the window with views of the sea and the sunset, lovely dining area with the decor and lighting. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Really cannot fault anything!
Good atmosphere and view. Decent service but the food takes a bit too long to be served. But overall it is good.
Very good fish, but pricey if you go when menu deals aren’t available... delicious desert! Liked the view.
menu disappointing 'same same ' too little variety - ambiance ok but not great . Food was pretty good , had whole fish to share , but no vegetables on the menu !
Starters all a little arty for me -
Needs work on the menu for me to go back
We came here for my son’s post graduation meal and my birthday. It was my son’s suggestion as since living in Brighton whilst studying, he had heard it was one of the best dining experiences in town. Being a vegetarian myself with an allium allergy, I did not have any expectations and thought I would have to make do with side dishes of chips and veg, how wrong I was! I can honestly say that more effort was made to accommodate me than any restaurant I have ever been to, including Michelin star restaurants around the world. I experienced tastes I have never experienced before and nothing was too much trouble. And my husband and son loved their food too, my son said the lobster was one of the best meals he has ever had, we’ve set him up to have expensive taste, lol. I can not recommend this lovely place enough. Thank you The Salt Room and compliments to the chef and our lovely waiter.
The food was excellent and we had an enjoyable evening celebrating a birthday. Service at times was a little slow but generally Ok and friendly.
Excellent meal, fantastic attentive service, strongly recommend. Looking forward to visiting again.
Fabulous service as ever. Best tables are looking at the sea I think. We had quite a noisy table of about 8 near us but it wasn't very intrusive re noise just a bit. The starters and snacks are amazing. Friends who eat meat say definitely choose fish rather than meat. Really lovely and my favourite special occasion place in Brighton.
Very good quality food and great service. It's not cheap, but good for business meals or celebrations.
A very relaxed atmosphere with top quality food especially the fish and desserts
Amazing Food, Fabulous Service, Great Night! Would definitely recommend!
Great sea food and great service. Probably one of the best sea food restaurants I have been to in the UK in a long while. Try the 'catch of the day' - in our case it was locally line caught sea bass - it was absolutely delicious. Service was perfect and always with a smile.
Very disappointed, no crab claws, no roast beef and a sharing platter of seafood for £50 that was tiny!
Excellent service, wonderful food, generous portions
We ate here after doing the Brighton and Hove triathlon last Sunday. The pre lunch drinks service in the bar area was great fun and I had a delicious gin and tonic - others had more exotic drinks - servers were knowledgeable and helpful. Two of our party had Sunday roast - it was excellent. They had run out of Yorkshire puddings but made more when they saw our disappointment! I had mussels - really good. To top it all, we got chocolates and a well done plate!!! Would highly recommend this place; it is an achievement to do a good roast dinner when the place is full and everyone wants it!
Fantastic dining experience last Saturday evening. I had the halibut which was very good and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the sea bream. Staff could not have been more welcoming.
Will definitely return.
Incredible food, great service
Best meal out in a long time
We went for tea for a joint anniversary celebration and it was really good. Interesting tasty food, good atmosphere, nice table overlooking the front. Not the cheapest place to eat, but a bit special and worth it. Highly recommended
Very good food, would definitely go back. Quite noisy though as popular. Friendly bit professional service.
Very enjoyable meal with first class, friendly service both at table and in the bar, by people who actually knew what they were doing. Usually dislike 12.5% service charge, but they were actually worth it here.
The dishes were interesting and good value - so many 'quality' restaurants offer pretty dishes which you have to follow with a visit to a burger bar so you don't starve. The portions here were well proportioned, enough without being too much, very well presented and with interesting tastes. Only disappointment were potato fries which were made using very floury potatoes more suited to making a mash, but after this was mentioned, it was immediately taken off the bill and we still had enough on the plate not to need a dessert.
We were persuaded to go off the 'house wine' selection we usually go for, and were pleased as the wines suggested were really good and worth the additional few pence (well, pound or so...).
Overall, excellent. Will be returning. Need to visit the dessert menu if for no other reason.
Lovely spot for a special treat lunch in Brighton, the food is fresh and delicious and the End of the Pier desert must be tried!
The seafood platter was fresh plentiful and amazing as always. Staff very helpful and attentive without being in your face. We had a fab birthday lunch
Waited for a while between courses. Advice re bones in a fish (edable ir not) was not given along with a correct knife to slide the bones out ( was rectified mid course). Advised that the meals do not come with potatoes on a set menu so we ordered chips on a side. Well, ended up with boiled potatoes as well as chips as one of the meals did come with potatoes. Pudding was visually a let down. Just 3 cubes on a large plate. No carnish or sauce to make it more of an experience. Felt that rhecubes had been just lifted out of a fridge to a plate. Service was ok and food itself tasted good. Less of an experience than we had hoped for.
A good meal. Excellent service, and decent wine list. Pricey, but good.
Great roast, unfortunately i dont luke fish so would only go for the roast
4 of us went to the Salt Rooms for my daughter's birthday. We ordered the beef roast but they came back to say that the last portions had just gone - despite it being only 2pm on Sunday. We had to re-order. They took ages with the food, made mistakes with our orders, failed to fill our wine glasses and the standard of service was very poor for an expensive restaurant. Furthermore when we left at about 4.00pm they were still serving others with the roast lunch - apparently you have to pre-order this if you want it.
We had been to the Salt Rooms a couple of times before and I doubt we will go back. The location is good, the food is fine but expensive but the service is consistently poor.
A fantastic and faultless meal. The food was delicious and inventive. The service was attentive and knowledgeable of the ingredients. I have not tasted better fish.
The food was excellent. When our food took a little longer than expected we were given a complimentary dish (without prompting) we were made to feel special and also given chocolates as it was our wedding anniversary.
One slight criticism one of the starters was advertised at £9.00 but on the bill was listed as £11.00 however as we had been looked after so well It didn't seem worth worrying about.
Just had a great meal here with my husband. The service was excellent and the food was incredible. Everything we had was excellent!!
amazing oysters and fish cooked to perfection! The desert and cocktails let the side down a bit, but overall it is a great place to eat.
Excellent food and ambience. Slight problem with the main course being delayed but overall a very enjoyable experience and good vegetarian food as well as great fish dishes.
We went for the pre-theatre special - 6-7 pm. A meal for two, with a cocktail and carafe of wine came in at £85.
The food was very good - using locally caught fish. The menu has some nice wines and unusual cocktails to choose from. The service was attentive, friendly, and efficient.
All in all, it was a lovely meal.
It is pricy: if we had gone a la carte and chosen a more costly wine it would have been an expensive meal.
The staff were very friendly, attentive but not intrusive. The food was perfect, happy with everything which is unusual compared to most restaurants in Brighton! It was my mums birthday and she was chuffed to pieces with her lunch. Very happy!
Totally wonderful meal,
The team were amazing, food Devine , atmosphere perfect for our 5 year anniversary. Service was cheeky and on it! Loved it.
Great menu choices, excellent cocktails and friendly and helpful waiting staff.
The "Taste of the Pier" sharing dessert is a must!
The food was great, the waiter was terrific, and the 99 desert was epic—but too much for us. Presentation was awesome.
The afternoon tea on my birthday was more interesting and tasty than most and the service was friendly and attentive. The candyfloss to finish was a nice touch.
Waited 1 hour 20minutes from ordering for main meal- we had been forgotten- and one of group had not had a stater.... Spoilt whole occasion. Another waiter did apologise but no reason given that was plausible. Did not like the soup flavour for the mussels but mackerel starter was delicious and monk fish quite tasty, perfectly cooked. Noone asked us if meal was ok and the waiter seemed to wander past and take no interest- I suspect if waiter had been attentive delay would not have happened. We eat out regularly but tend to just go to a couple of restaurants were service is excellent- I don't plan to go back to the salt room
