Food was delicious
Excellent service and a fantastic meal. Good choice of veggie and non-veggie dishes. The Lemon Drizzle cake was delicious 🤤
Great breakfast, lovely seat at the window with a sea view and attentive staff
Food was terrible. Told the fish of the day was halibut, then was told they didn’t have any then was told it was sea bass. Went for the sea bass - it wasn’t fresh and it was tasteless but also horrible at the same time and over priced (£18). Really poor form considering this place is right beside the sea. Feel like it should be mentioned that the hygiene rating is 1/5 (major improvement necessary). Toilets were like being in a nightclub toilet at closing time.
Waited around 40.minutes for second drink, i had finished my starter and pretty much my main course. We had to ask another waiter where it was, he was young and nicely apologised. Our waiter not once asked us if our food was ok but yet asked the table beside us twice and gave them their bill before they had even asked.
We sat with empty plates for around 30 minutes, had to ask to see dessert menu, again sat about 20 minutes and nobody came to take our order so we got up paid and left. They missed out on 2 desserts and 2 liquor coffees. This meal out was for our wedding anniversary and first night out kid free in a year, very disappointed and won't be back.
Used to be good .. lots of staff running around but guests had to wait so inefficient . Food standard .
Delicious food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere.
Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant with excellent service. We were sat at a window table which provided us with a great sea view, would recommend The Salty Dog as a great place for a chill out meal with friends.
Love this place, food is superb, service is friendly and attentive.
All social distressing adhered to excellent service & meal (fish of the day - seabass) was delicious , only down side tiny bit expensive for portion size could've bulked out with bit more potato & asparagus but very well cooked & would recommend.
Delicious food, staff were happy to amend an item on the menu for me, great for dogs, overall lovely experience.
Staff were lovely dog friendly and lovely view from our table
Lovely food, quick service and nice variety of drinks.
Gorgeous food, lovely cocktails, staff were so attentive and helpful.
Excellent and innovative menu choices and food beautifully cooked and presented. Friendly service, a little slow to start but understandable as theycwere busy. Overall a brilliant first night out after lockdown.
Great to be back for lunch and food was very good as normal. Friendly staff who make you very welcome even with the necessities of COVID precautions. The staff love dogs and mine enjoyed her frozen yoghurt and all the attention she got from staff and other customers. I would really recommend for lunch out after a walk around the coast or castle.
The food was lovely. Adapted for gluten and dairy free. But on arrival we were seated at a dirty table. Had to wipe it down myself. Asked for a high chair and was never given one. So also had to take one from another table and clean it down. I had noted on our booking it was for a birthday and we were seated right by the fire exit (not very ambient) second place we’ve been to since places have opened up and it just wasn’t very welcoming compared to the other.
Have eaten at this restaurant before and experienced the same service.
The food is very good quality and delicious.
What let’s this restaurant down is the service, very slow to serve and take your order, although plenty of staff.
Ordered drinks initially and they took a long time to arrive.
When l ordered the meal l also ordered a glass of wine to have with the meal.
I had nearly finished my main course and the wine had still not arrived so l went to the bar and cancelled the wine.
When the bill arrived they tried to charge me for the wine l had cancelled.
On the previous occasion l dined there l experienced the same issue with the bar service.
Spoiled a nice evening.
Lovely meal but had to ask six times for a glass of sparkling water for our driver.
Had a great day sitting in the sun having lunch and drinks. The food was outstanding, friendly staff and the sun shone all day. A perfect day!
Food absolutely excellent as always and great value for money. Good selection of children's meals. Only mark down was re speed of service but I think this was due to the increased footfall and things settling back in after covid lockdown and food was well worth the wait anyway.
Lovely lunch, shame that the fish delivery hadn’t arrived because I had my heart set on Mussels but so lovely to be out and staff were very friendly.
No coverage whatsoever. Rain diluted drinks. Service wasn’t great. Sat waiting 20 minutes on a drinks order even though the place was dead. Food was nice and tasty.
Outdoor dining, but good to get for a meal
Starters were Excelent, we had the Wings and Pork Belly. Would definitely recommend if you are going.
One of the mains was the scampi, there weren't many of them but they did taste really good. The Burger wasn't the best I'd ever had and felt a bit expensive for what it was being £15.
Cocktails were really good way to finish night off with and all the staff were super friendly and always trying to help.
However on the downside, the wait was a bit long which didn't really bother us that much but could frustrate some, there was a big bit of mould on the wall (Covered in tape) outside and not all of tables had parasols with no outside heat at all.
Felt safe and all regs followed . Food cocktails and wine good . Maybe some fairy lights in the garden would help with ambience
There were no outside heaters.
Was only two servers to almost 10 tables
The food was just ok.
Sorry will not return for dinner again
Drinks service was a bit slow to start with but it improved. Food and especially vegetarian option my wife had was excellent as was the food service. Quality of Guinness and Cocktails were extremely good as well. The sunshine coming through the clouds made it warm but it was cold as we were leaving.
As we arrived we weren’t sure what to do, we stood in the foyer but there was no signage as to whether we should wait or not - staff were walking about so we went in ahead through to the back and took a seat. We asked other customers what we were supposed to do but they weren’t sure either.
A waiter came and asked if we had a booking which we did, and he asked if we could move to another table which was quite tricky to eat food at. This was odd as two fellas ended up sitting where we were anyway.
The staff were nice and polite but seemed confused, and people were constantly being turned away who had not booked tables even though they had already been allowed to come in and sit down.
This made the atmosphere quite strange, so maybe some signage would help.
No condiments were offered so had to go and get them, we asked for straws which never came, and none of the waiting staff could tell us how long we could keep our table for.
We didn’t have a parasol/cover at our table so we were getting rained on at various points. The tables that did have parasols kept blowing over.
This wouldn’t bother us if it was a cheap and cheerful place but it was £15 each for fish and chips, plus plenty spent on drinks.
Lovely food and ambience, great service and staff, made to feel very welcome. Will definitely return when open again after lockdown.
Beautiful food and fantastic staff! Can’t wait to go back!
On arrival we where met and greeted by the hostess taken to the table seated snd made very welcome
The food was ordered delivered with a smile. As for the food it was outstanding.
Wonderful meal as always, great to be back in a restaurant again. Well done to everyone and the hard work to put things in place to allow customers to return.
It was quiet when we visited which is a shame as the food here is always great.
Staff were quick, friendly and attentive.
Food was tasty and all presented with a little "twist" - my steak came with a small cottage pie - absolutely delicious.
Seating area so well spaced for Covid, staff efficiently remind of necessary rules and ensure they are followed, lots of sanitiser and all in all current issues are very well managed.
We love coming here with our dogs. Such a friendly welcome, great food, adhering to covid guidance
A great breakfast for both of us, served by a very pleasant staff member. The restaurant is reassuringly clean and Covid compliant.
Bit quieter than I would expect, but then so was the town. Really enjoyed the pork and my partner enjoyed the coley. Desserts to die for and a good selection of craft beers.
Good cocktails, great burger and fish and chips. Excellent service, relaxed and knowledgeable.
Staff great, friendly and helpful. Good food. Warm atmosphere.
