I Joyed the food and the Service
Very good experience, food and service was excellent. Feel confident to recommend it to anyone. 👍🏻
This place was just ok, not a great selection on the menu, very pricey for what you get, staff slow to take orders, tables left in a mess from previous customers, not too quick to clean it up, was ok because we could take the dog in, if we hadn’t had the dog we’d have gone elsewhere
Drinks order taken with food order instead of offering drinks first which kept us waiting for anything to arrive at table. Hubby ordered sausage roll and scotch egg he was disappointed stating sausage roll hard as if overcooked and scotch egg not as good as usual. I had scampi which was delicious. Unfortunately we got bill and they had charged full amount - when I pointed out it was Eat Out to Help out they took bill away and amended. I sincerely hope this was a genuine mistake and not deliberate to charge customers but still claim back from government. We usually sing the Salty Dog praises but I am a bit sceptical as to the quality of meal and the bill episode left us wondering whether to try again.
Very disappointed with both the quality and quantity of food
Visited on Monday lunch: friendly welcome and precooked table was by a window.
Service good long with tasty food.
Superb. Fabulous ingredients prepared perfectly. Already booked again!
Food was delicious and service was excellent, great value for money also
Service was excellent, main course was v tasty but lacking in presentation, needed salad garnish with it. Tiramisu was like no tiramisu I've ever had before....with 2 rock hard inedible slabs of dark chocolate.
I've been to The Salty Dog many times, I like the location, atmosphere & service is always v good.
Great meal and great staff, who had personality which was great to see.
Nice place, staff very good but menu limited . Very expensive. £15 for fish and chips with no extras.
I felt the Salty Dog welcomed my husband, myself and my 2 Scotties. The seated dog area was totally suitable for the Scotties and the food was lovely. Definitely recommend the Salty Dog as a dog friendly restaurant, 5 stars.
We were staying at the Salty Dog and our meal was included as part of our 'deal'. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. All good hygiene and social distancing practices in place. Would recommend.
A seamless service provided by friendly helpful staff all aware of the regulation surrounding Corona virus All endeavoured to make the evening a posltive experience for my family.
The food was delicious, served hot and no long delays.
Can't wait to return.
Well done and thankyou.
Limited menu no doubt to allow the kitchen & serving staff to cope post lockdown, but the options we chose (Kalamari, Pork Chop, Surf & Turf, plus roast cabbage as a side) were excellent. Lots of flavour & colour on the plates, generous enough portions, and reasonable prices. Plenty of space between tables to allow for social distancing, and staff were attentive & polite. No complaints from us at all. Would recommend.
Gorgeous little place, with amazing views. food was absolutely stunning so will definitely be back. Also dog friendly which was a big bonus.
Great Menu and lovely staff. Definitely worth a visit
Great first post-lockdown meal. Couldn’t ask for better food or better service. Will be back!
No anbience at all. All very cold and silent. Young waiter cleaning table legs beside us as we ate. Surely that doesnt need to be done when its clearly spotless and nobody apart from 1 other table in... maybe wait until after customers have their meal. Wouldnt recommend The Salty Dog at the minute. Its a shame we always loved this place.
As regular diners at the Salty Dog, and despite many obvious Covid-19 related changes, the same high standard of food and especially waiting service remained. We booked through OpenTable for a light early evening meal as it was our wedding anniversary and this was picked up on by our waitress when ordering our meal - (sorry that we didn't get her name) - so that when desert was served, there was a special message piped onto the plate wishing us a Happy Anniversary. A small thing to some perhaps, but this lovely gesture is a true reflection of the constant level of good service and quality food that we always receive at The Salty Dog. As ever - we will be back.
Friendly helpful staff. Prompt service. COVID-19 protocols were in place and didn’t intrude on our enjoyment of our meal or long awaited evening out
Fabulous as ever! Great social distancing measures in place, food is fantastic and the service was great. I was glad to see the time behind closed doors was put to good use too, the place was looking great!
Excellent as always. Great to see the restaurant re-open.
Wonderful visit to the Salty Dog Bangor as always , excellent food & service and our little Bichon Pierre agrees 😊🐶
Lovely service, beautiful food and homely atmosphere!
Lovely atmosphere. Tables were quite far apart because of the coronavirus and the waitress explained what measures were being taken to try to ensure that the health of customers was not compromised. Starter of Irish seafood was large and filling. It was really delicious. The seared hake was also delicious and very well presented. My husband had the scampi and said it was the largest portion he has ever had in his life! A great dining experience.
We had a great night. The food and service was excellent. The only disappointment for us was the fact that the clams weren't available. We are already looking forward to a return visit.
Beautiful food, great cocktails, lovely wine and efficient and friendly service!
Great experience staff excellent great night will definitely be back
Food was not nice . It didn’t taste fresh . This used to be a really great restaurant but it was very disappointing and expensive
I am very sorry to hear this. It is not what we aim for. Can I ask when you were in and what you had so that we can check on the issues?
The service was excellent. Very helpful and polite staff. Food was delicious. Will def be back.
The food and service is generally of a good standard with a interesting menu and nice specials.
One negative is the dog friendly aspect of this hotel, personally I don’t want to be eating next to a table with dogs and dog bowls in the vicinity! But that is my own personal view.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and the kind comments. With regards to the dogs there are two areas of the restauarnt that do not have dogs in them. If you are booking in the future book a standard table and you should be seated in an area away from the dogs. Thank you again.
Excellent service from the staff and the food was amazing, couldn’t fault it. Will be back again.
Relaxed, welcoming, chilled atmosphere.
Cheerful attentive staff.
Nice warm reception for 4 legged friend.
Menu a little offbeat, though food also added to a laid back evening.
Thanks Salty Dog, whole family enjoyed.
Went on xmas eve for an afternoon tea. Although I’d emailed separately they didn’t know we wanted an afternoon tea but nothing was too much trouble and it was made relatively quickly. Everything was freshly made and the scones especially were some of the best I’ve ever had. Will def return
We both had rib eye steak and it was gorgeous chips and sauce also good. Not that fussed on the mushrooms or onion but that was just me, hubby loved it
Very comfy seating in the bar, great big sofa and cushions
This is a lovely place to eat and drink with great food and attentive staff.
Was there with family and we all had a very good night. The ambiance was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Another lovely meal at this coastal delight. Opted for a special of lemon sole and wasn't disappointed. Very large portion which was delicious and accompanied by some local Irish gins.
We had a wonderful over night stay in salty dog as the owner of a service dog I was delighted to see regular dog owners with their fur babies enjoying the warm welcome atmosphere of this incredible hotel and restaurant. My friend and I were very impressed with the warm friendly staff excellent food and comfortable bedroom. I plan to return before Christmas with My service dog moo and having now checked it out would be very comfortable to travel with her to this wonderful hotel. The location of the hotel is very central to Bangor Town and the town itself is very pleasant with great walks .
