Staff very friendly we were assisted and seated to our table very quickly.
Seafood chowder starter generous portion. Bit disappointed with rib eye steak and flat iron steak, meat very hard and doesn’t seem to be a good quality meat.
Good food, shambolic service. The dinner wine arrived before the pre-dinner drinks, which we had to chase. When the food arrived, we then had to chase to get the wine back. We ordered sides which didn't arrive until we had practically finished the meal. The waitstaff seemed willing but totally inexperienced, and clearly liaison with the kitchen was all over the place.
Highs and lows (weighted in no particular order):
- Needed to change booking from 4 to 5 at short notice, Mandy was brilliant at accommodating us
- Great for dogs,
- Convivial ambiance with people chatting across tables
- Everywhere was clean and tables well spaced
- Staff apologetic for any shortcomings and very patient
- Our waitress was a dog lover and very engaging with our wee Yorkie puppy, as well as telling us about her own dogs
- Some if the group arrived early and were immediately brought to the table
- Staff were all wearing masks but very few customers when not sitting at tables
- Very slow service, we expected this due to challenges in hospitality industry but waited around 40 mins between asking for a wine menu and getting the wine (why not give the wine menu at the same time as the food menu?)
- The wine was eventually was served, initially a glass rather than the bottle we’d ordered, then the bottle with 1 glass, had to specify how many we needed & the additional 2 glasses were warm
- Food was mediocre at best and didn’t live up to descriptions on menu
- Very overpriced for the quality & quantity of the dishes eg £9 for cheeseboard with only 2 small pieces of cheese, bland chutney & poppadum-style crackers, £10 for 3 tiny scallops
- One of the group ordered a Diet Coke (not as a mixer) and the can was brought down with no glass
- The main courses were served with no cutlery which was slow to arrive
Would we return? I simply don’t know - heart says yes for the dog-friendly aspect and we had a lovely evening, but head says no for everything else. In addition, it wasn’t particularly busy so I dread to imagine how much worse it could have been.
Great food, super table and service in a lovely atmosphere
Great service, lovely staff and food. Def be back with my new puppy who also felt at home. Thanks!
Not great, lots of flies! Two meals were wrong, then overcharged for a child’s meal. Food was fine but overnight 3 out of the 7 of the party were unwell. We won’t be going back.
Lovely lunch very well presented. Good friendly and pleasant service.
Booked our table online, seated quickly with no hanging around & the food was absolutely delicious! Even the kids loved it! Highly recommended.
Interesting menu, delicious food, attentive and friendly serving staff, a lovely ambience, and views of the marina - what’s not to love?!
Unable to have either the starter or main course that I wished from the menu.
Had to leave my meal as the beef was impregnable
Excellent place, love coming here when in Belfast
Waiter/waitress need to be more turned on / tuned in. Drinks order pre meal just about arrived before the food. Had to ask twice where it was.
Very tasty breakfast options and a lovely pot of tea.
Good food in a pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff too!
We had to re arrange our booking due to our bad timing issues and the hotel was most accommodating. The food was delicious, extremely fresh, very nice cod chops and peas. My gripe is the small glass of wine was £6.50. !!!! Really ??
It was good to have our dog with us as he badly needed a rest after his long walk from Holywood. Would return no problem. New staff and this could be seen at times, getting their attention for small things proved a bit diff.
We called in (with our greyhound) for lunch in the bar area where dogs are welcome. Food was lovely as usual - we shared a selection of dishes from the starter/nibbles menu and I particularly liked the spicy cauliflower ‘wings’ and my other half loved the chowder which he got all to himself because I don’t like fish. The staff are friendly and helpful and genuinely like the visiting dogs. It’s great to be able to have a drink and good food in relaxing surroundings after a dog walk. We’ll be back again soon.
Superb food and ambience, would highly recommend the squid and fish and chips and the brownie was something else!
The experience was fine. Food was ok, but we have had better.
Very friendly staff. Children’s menu allowed smaller versions of main dishes, which is excellent!
In Salty Dog, I had possibly the best curry I've ever had ever in my life. It was the chickpea vegan one and it was so delicious.
We also had the breads to share to start. They were amazing too but I think after that and the curry I was too full to try the deserts....should I go again, I'll be eating the hot lemon cake.
Hotel is lovely and the rooms are nice. Unfortunately its let down by poor dinner service. The staff are nice. Meals brought out and left waiting for cutlery. Drinks order placed and forgotten about. Condiments requested but not brought to table and all the time a member of staff and duty manager standing behind us. Had breakfast the next morning and while the service was better. No spoon or sugar was provided for the coffee unless requested. Also the Sunday dinner menu is different to what is advertised outside and on website and had we of known this before booking a table we would probably have went elsewhere. Personally the lack of service in the restaurant would prevent me from visiting again which is a shame as the hotel is beautiful.
Lovely setting, great food. Good value and very relaxed.
Lovely view from window seat for dinner for 2. Had a lovely starter each: Cauliflower wings and chicken wings which were quite hot but very tasty and included a generous helping. Good range of starters and mains but both decided to go for burgers... beef and chicken which were very nice and the chips were tasty as well. Good, friendly service and would definitely recommend. Good value for money, nice food and a nice atmosphere.
The restaurant was very warm and another diner asked for a window to be opened. There were seats by the window and we asked if we might have one but we’re told they were booked. This was fair enough but one of the tables remained empty throughout our stay only to be taken by a single diner as we left. The menu was very scant and the mains were occupied by 3 burger options. That’s ok if you are a burger joint and that’s where I’d dine if I preferred a burger. The short rib meals we ordered were of sizeable differences and our plates were mainly taken up with rocket lettuce. The portion of chips was quite scant. The starters were delicious and the part of the meal we enjoyed the most. Service was adequate.
Amazing cocktails ,vegetarian food choice was great and the flavours outstanding. We had a lovely evening and the staff were superb
Great food and lovely helpful staff. Enjoyed our evening!
Had a great table by the window. Server was helpful and polite. Food was fabulous as ever. Managed to leave my phone behind and when I returned it was exactly where I’d left it.
I got a burger and the cheese looked orange and a funny taste of it didn’t taste like proper cheese my husband got a chicken burger and said it tasted quite processed . Just ok staff where very pleasant but don’t think I would go back . S
just have a lovely meal. service was great and the food was the best i have had in a long time. such a lovely atmosphere will definitely go back
We were not acknowledged when we came in. Waiters were not friendly or welcoming. It was awkward and the menu was basic at best. Very dated. A surprise from the lunch menu that has been advertised on the website. Very sorry we didn't go for lunch and maybe would have had a better experience. The waiters maybe more awake, atmosphere maybe more present and the food hopefully better.
Ended up going next door for coffee and buns to perk up the day!
I'd doubt I'll be back. But if so, maybe lunch.
Very very raw Fish
well done pink steak
Hard inside triple cooked chips
Asked for wipes for fingers after eating starter of wings. Never arrived
Ordered a bottle of wine 6 times. It took 45 mins to arrive. Starters arrived at different times. Main courses ?? My hubby is gf and was brought a non gf meal. Waitress told us it was gf when ordering. Apart from above the food we did get was tasty
Food was fantastic as always.
Good choice for both meat eaters and vegetarians.
Could do with more staff as service was slow, especially for drinks.
Had a beautiful Sunday lunch here yesterday. We went for the two course option, food was awesome, service quick and friendly. Overall a lovely visit and will definitely be back very soon
1. We were over charged for our daughter's 3 courses.
2. Clueless / rude waiting staff, we must of had 4 different people.
3. Website said 'On a Sunday we will be offering our Carve@Home as a carvery on a plate for those eating in', this was NOT available to us yesterday, Sunday 11th July.
4. Tables that arrived after us got served Much quicker than us.
All in all an extremely disappointing visit.
Great location, excellent food and friendly and attentive staff. We will definitely go back!
It was lovely, service was excellent and the food was delicious
Excellent meal and service. Very safe Covid measures in place too. Will be back.
Nice place food was excellent and I would recommend
