   Visiting Bangor again after 1 year we were keen to go again to the salty dog as the vegetarian options were great. Our high expectations were exceeded. Wonderful food and service ina great setting

   Ate here last night as a family for my husband’s birthday. We had the flatiron and the beef cheek and both were perfection on a plate. The steak was succulent, complemented by baby boiled potatoes and garlic butter - one of the best I’ve ever had! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the beef cheek and opted for champ as an accompaniment. The children all ate off the Pup’s menu and enjoyed their food and desserts. Excellent service and glorious views!

    Our first experience in the restaurant and sadly it will be our last. The wife's Caesar salad was average and my Salty Dog Fish and Chips looked like the left overs of a busy lunchtime. Not one chip exceeded 1 inch in length, the batter on the fish was soggy and the mushy peas were like semi set concrete. Probably the worst Fish and Chips I've ever had. We will not return to eat.

    Not bad. Slow service. Meal arrived without ordered side dish and chicken wings were lukewarm at best. On the plus side, meal was still very enjoyable. Ambience good. Good value.

    Salty Dog is one of our favourite restaurants however we were not impressed on our recent visit. The chicken wings on the kids menu were not suitable for children, very hard to eat and served with a spicy coleslaw. The other food was ok but not up to the usual standard.

    Having a sub-standard meal at 5pm on a quiet Sunday was unexpected. Duck ragu inedible (watery, sour, pasta boiled to submission). Burger had to be sent back, items missing from order. I can appreciate mishaps on a busy day, but it was very quiet and disappointing. Expensive for what it was, even for the duck being removed from the bill.

    The food was good/OK, although one dish was described as Lamb shoulder but was in fact some kind of lamb mince composite with a very strange texture. The location by the marina was great. However the service was poor. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 children. Our waitress could not explain our questions about the menu. The various dishes we ordered did not arrive at the same time so that some people only started their meal when others had finished. On two occasions the dish we ordered seemed to have been forgotten and we had to remind the waitress what we had ordered. We had to wait a ,long time for the dessert to be served. Overall it felt quite disorganised.

    Disappointing experience. Our party had visitors from Scotland who specifically wanted to go to SD. Whilst we appreciated being accommodated at the window with enough space for dogs, It felt like we were forgotten about. It took a longer than average time for the food to arrive, which was lukewarm and didn’t arrive together so very disjointed. The chips had clearly been re heated and burnt as was Yorkshire pudding. Roast beef was not served pink as requested & there wasn’t enough cutlery and napkins or condiments provided. The service was polite but very slow and disinterested at best. Disappointing. We weren’t offered dog menu, water bowls or desert.

    Great first experience with dining at The Salty Dog. If you are a dog lover or have a pet choose to sit in the bar area. Food and service was excellent. Only fault, was the sofa seating was quite low down from the table. Overall enjoyed my visit and would definitely be back again 🙂

    We love that we can take our pup here and enjoyed our last breakfast outing however yesterday we booked a table for lunch at 12, we were shown our table however not given menu’s, we eventually after approx 20 mins had someone take out drinks order however still no menus given, I had to ask for menu’s to receive them! Our order was then taken fairly swiftly however cannot say the same for the food arriving. We were waiting a further 30-40 mins before staff apologised about the delay and said food would be ready in the next 4-5 mins, we waited another 10-15 mins minimum before food arrived my son and husband enjoyed their meals however considering the price and the wait for my pork belly, while the meat was cooked the fat was not rendered down at all there was no crispy areas of fat at all, flavours were lovely but would have been a lot nicer and memorable if it had been cooked correctly. I generally don’t put up negative reviews and hate to put this one up but it was very poor service yesterday.

    Started with the share platter - it was amazing! We had the breads, squid and cocktail sausages with all the extras - excellent value for money. Will be back just for this alone! All the mains were perfect too.

    3 of us ate here and overall had a good experience, albeit a bit hit and miss. Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of local beers and ales. One starter was cool and not great value, whilst another was plentiful and delicious. One main was a great helping and perfectly cooked. Desserts were adequate.

    We had a wonderful mean in the Salty Dog, 3 adults and 3 doggoes. Dog friendly restaurants in NI are still few and far between which is a shame because it really limits dog lovers' activities on days out if they want to both eat an enjoyable meal and spend the day with their fur. The staff here were lovely and were as attentive to the pups as they were to us, bringing them water and treats. It was a lovely sunny day too so an all round cheery atmosphere. Highly recommend!

    Great to be able to take our dog out to dinner with us instead of leaving her at home. Food is really good and the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

    All 3 meals had to be sent back as the food was cold. Steak was also very tough . The favours of the food although were good. Service was slow / meals didn't come out together which wasn't good. We only ordered main dish from the 2 course which was priced at £20 so only saving £ 5 .. £ 20 a meal was expensive for what we got and meal quality poor . Dessert was tasty .

    Great evening meal with my wife and son. Service stood out - portions perhaps a little too big? We had Scotch egg and bread board to start and then Fish Pie and Flat Iron steak for mains. Finished the evening very satisfied if not a little full!

    I won a voucher for breakfast for four at my Grandaughter’s preschool and brought 3 friends. Everything was wonderful! Lovely choice for breakfast - it was all delicious. Service was excellent - found the staff to be attentive without being overbearing. Will definitely be returning, not only for breakfast but lunch and dinners too!

    The starters took over an hour to come, when they did (samosas) had little filling as it had oozed out on frying. The server then announced there was not enough of the special main course we had ordered (venison), so some of our group had to reorder something else. When the special arrived it was small as if it had been halved. The table we got assigned was draughty and could not move as restaurant was full. Disappointed as we had been before and had a lovely meal.

    Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening, it was busy and there was a wait in between courses but this wasn't a problem for us at all. The staff are very polite and the food was amazing. Would def eat here again.
