The Savannah Bar & Restaurant
We sat in a busy hotel lobby, ambience was awful but food was ok, good rump steak, fried food too greasy, not over priced and came very quickly which is what we needed. Excellent service, nice staff.
I can't describe better than hidden gem. Together with few friends we were looking at some nice place around Euston and found The Savannah. We were friendly welcome by staff, offered drinks in the bar area (nice beer selection by the way) and offered a table in the restaurant upstairs. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, wine list extensive, service attentive and professional and everything very reasonable priced. Overall awesome experience and definitely will visit more often.
We can on a quiet evening.
The restaurant had low lighting and candles on the tables.
The menu had something for everyone. We opted for scallops trio and lobster tortellini for starters. Both looked great and were yummy.
For mains we had salmon teriyaki and rump of lamb. Really delicious and big portion.
We shared a pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. This was truly amazing.
Service was good. Attentive but not intrusive.
Will definitely go back.
Very poor quality food but staff were nice
Amazing food, lovely place. Very nice staff but very slow service and not busy. Limited menu, not as advertised online. However, they have only opened recently and there are building works nearby.
Delicious food! Atmosphere a little lacking but great food made up for it.
Didn't accept my OpenTable voucher which was a shame.
Great position near Euston station. Food was good despite undergoing refurb.
I have been to Savannah many times; disappointed that the upstairs restaurant is no longer available. Downstairs feels cramped. Service was provided with a smile and promptly. good menu selection and tasty dishes. Starters a little overpriced. Overall OK. Thank you
I went for lunch with a business colleague at 12.00pm. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The staff put on really loud music and we had to ask them to turn it down. The staff seemed to be playing a game, running in and out of the kitchen accompanied by loud shouting, laughter and the occasional scream. The staff paid no attention to customers - we got the impression that they wished we were not there. The service was poor, and we had to stand up to gain anyone's attention. The food was just about acceptable but pretty mediocre. Overall this was a bad dining experience. This restaurant is definitely not to be recommended.
Booking was accepted via Opentable but ongoing works resulted in Restaurant and Bar being closed and a temporary room used - disappointing - staff excellent and frustrated by works
Read some dubious reviews about this place, but was st
Untrained staff. Can’t make their own cocktails.
I was asked to find a restaurant near Euston station which I did. The staff were friendly and efficient, but the food was not good.
When the waitress gave us the menus she explained (very politely) that they were out of a number of dishes as the menu was due to change the next day.
Two of us chose the crab starter, which arrived cold covered in a think tasteless tomato sauce, the other person had the risotto but only had a spoonful.
When the waitress came to clear the food I told her quietly what we thought the food was like and asked her to ask the chef to make sure the main course was better.
One person had the crab as a main, came with less sauce, was slightly warmer but still tasteless, I had the ostrich which was cooked ok but came with the vegetables I specifically asked for it not to come with, the third meal was tasteless.
The very polite waitress made a reduction on the bill as a gesture, but I would NEVER eat there again.
This was possibly one of the worst meals I have ever had, and I have now been forbidden from choosing a restaurant again - but I stress the staff were friendly and helpfull
Warm ,friendly & professional waitresses . Good choice of food well cooked& well presented. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely people, nice menu, relaxed atmosphere, and really convenient for the theatre
The food was really good and well presented and staff were friendly
Limited menus but good quality.
The food was very good and the service gave no cause for negative comment however the ambience was not what we expected as it was very quiet apart from a private party who left 20 mins after we arrived. The bar is nice as we had a drink in there before dinner. We will go back again but perhaps nearer the weekend when it’s busier.
Excellent first class food service and atmosphere highly recommend it to all
This restaurant is part of the Welsley hotel which is not clear. We were seated in the back part (which I’d say is the bar usually) in grubby chairs and in what felt like a corridor. Service was non existent (I had to get up twice to get attention). Then the restaurant started putting out trays of hot buffet food for a conference that was taking place in the hotel and which took over all space in the restaurant. Never again!
Lovely food and service and very relaxed environment, thoroughly enjoyed our experience
The food was surprisingly tasty, and I would definitely recommend the soup of the day. Service also very prompt, but then I was the only person in the restaurant. This made the ambience a bit lacking, but on the other hand if you want somewhere quiet to have a meal, this is a good place to go
Really bad service, the menu was not as advertised online, food was far from satisfactory and the when i tried speaking to the staff, none of them understood English very well, so it felt it was on deaf ears. Really disappointed as was looking forward to trying the cuisine which was advertised. Wrote a letter of feedback to the restaurant and it has not been acknowledged or responded to. A shame, as looked so appetising online.
A small group of us visited this restaurant early January having been impressed by the reviews/feedback and the web site. We were particularly interested in the set menu advertised on the website as it seemed to offer an interesting yet good value dinner - perfect for just after Christmas/New Year.
On arrival, the bar staff were friendly and helpful. The House red (Tempranillo) was poor quality but the cab sauv was far better so we stuck to that for the rest of the night. A generous portion of crisps accompanied our drink.
Unfortunately when we sat down in the restaurant we were told the set menu was not available. The A la Carte we were presented with was pretty uninteresting for a ‘fusion’ restaurant and the food when it arrived continued in the same vein - pretty bland. A pity as we had high hopes! We agreed we would not readily return to this particular restaurant.
Menu less original and flexible than expected. Prawns not tempura actually. Good fresh veg but fish overcooked. Helpful service. VG coffee.
A friend needed to catch an evening train from Euston so a suitable restaurant nearby was the order of the day.
I found this one which is remarkably close to the station. Its a good restaurant with a stylish approach to food. You can see they aspire to great things but there are some shortcomings.
Firstly the first two red wines I chose off the wine list were not available - which rather reduced the options as its not that extensive.
The spinach wasn't washed properly. It was gritty, which is pretty inexcusable these days
The braised ox cheeks were gorgeous so largely the meal was excellent - but gritty spinach does rather spoil it
A pleasant environment and funky décor, the menu was a little unusual but we found dishes we wanted to try and were not disappointed. The wild mushroom risotto was delicious. Service was friendly, although the food did take a bit longer to arrive than it should have, our server was attentive in letting us know we hadn't been forgotten.
The was good (if slightly overpriced), the staff were lovely. Sadly when we went there on a Friday night there was no one in there and no atmosphere
Really good food at reasonable prices. The service was excellent. A bit quiet as it's probably more a weeknight place rather than a Friday night haunt but family still very much enjoyed it.
We took clients here for a business lunch. I booked a few weeks before as the food look amazing in the photos. We arrived and we were put in the bar area because they had a large party in the main restaurant. The booth we were put in had filthy stained seats which was not nice.
We were told we could only order off of a random small menu, we asked if it was possible to order something from the main one which after asking the chef, it was.. The food wasn't too bad but expensive. Service was pretty poor considering we were the only people in the bar area.
This was my first visit to this restaurant and it certainly will not be the last. The ambiance of the venue is bright and welcoming, and the staff member are very warm and courteous. The food was of excellent quality, tasty, beautifully prepared and presented. The South African influence is evident in many dishes. There's a good wine-list containing many good vintages at moderate prices. The service is exemplary. Highly recommended.
Food value was good but overcooked. We ordered one steak medium rare and the other medium and both were brown all the way through.
Inventive food with a South African flavour in modern surroundings. Very friendly and attentive service and not wildly expensive.
Great value, good food, very attentive staff and so close to Euston station! Shall definitely return again!
Very good service and nice staff would recommend .
Good service, foid was well prepared and presented, the layout of the dining ares helped eith the business meeting.
A very enjoyable dinner with friends. Friendly service and lovely food
My Dad and I had a lovely time at The Savannah. Perfect proximity to Euston and the food was incredible! Service was fantastic and the waiter went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I would highly reccomend this place for the pork belly starter, the duck and apparently the in house beer was 'top notch' (Dads words). We will definitely be back!
I booked this restaurant for a catch up with a friend... the reviews on Open Table looked good, menu looked good, was looking forward to it...
BUT... even though the booking was accepted, the restaurant was not open - only the bar downstairs, where they were serving food.
REALLY? Seriously the ambience of the bar is nothing to write home about and we didn't fancy eating there - so we left after a few drinks.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!
