fab food and a great atmosphere, we had the mussels and the scallops were amzing and presented very well
Great fish. Very central location. Lovely smile from the waitresses.
At the end of the day it’s fish and chips. Pleasantly done, bit of a twist, but still fish and chips.
Really unassuming place with excellent fish and superb service. Very pleasant experience. Feels like a mix of fresh fish and fish and chips. To get a bottle of Greek white wine was a bonus. Will definitely be going again.
Could not fault the restaurant at all - food was delicious, great atmosphere and i'd go back in a heartbeat. Make sure you book though as was full on Saturday lunch when we arrived and people were being turned away... a must visit!
Our family loved the whole experience. The mussels for starters was excellent and the cod for main course tasted amazing . We will definitely come again . Great service nice decor and friendly staff. Plus the chips are great
Lovely restaurant and amazing fish and chips!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely loved it here, amazing food, wine and brilliant staff. Will definitely be returning again very soon. X
Fantastic food, great ambience and attentive staff. Great selection of fresh fish with clear menu. Service was great. Would definitely recommend.
Friendly casual atmosphere and the food was outstanding
Took the grandchildren there and we all loved it. The best fish and chips in town!! Great efficient service and it was nice and quiet upstairs.
Best fish and chips in Bath and the "Fisherman's Lunch" is fantastic value. You'd be mad to go anywhere else to eat at lunchtime!
Food excellent as ever, will be back. the grilled hake was fantastic
Always very good. I had the half Dorset Brown crab - excellent
My wife and I opted for the Fisherman's Lunch which is great value when you visit at, yes, lunchtime! The fish is not massive but is ideal for us. My wife was allowed to exchange her chips for salad which resulted in a 50p reduction on the usual £10 cost! Thus an extra 50p went into the tip box. Lovely restaurant and pleasant staff. Thank you.
Excellent food, service a little haphazard, didn’t get water like other tables had to request
We enjoyed our meal (again) and we will be back again. This time we brought friends who have never been before and they also enjoyed the food. We marked down ambience as we got that table that next to the wash room entrance.
A worthwhile visit in all respects. The food is outstanding and the service excellent. Could do with one or two less tables downstairs as it is very congested.
Fish was all dripping in grease. Chips very dry with no flavour. Over all not worth the money at all. Couldn't even finish the meal.
Very nice place, rustic decor well thought out. Nice food and attentive staff reasonably priced fresh food. Delivered in good time.
Sat upstairs which was quieter. Service was friendly and food was good
The food was outstanding. However, their kitchen extractor just does not do the job. The whole restaurant smells strongly of fried food, as did our clothes after we had left.
Very pleasant evening at the Scallop Shell
Great fish and chips, good choice of fish
Excellent service and nice atmosphere
Lovely casual fish restaurant, busy which didn’t affect the quality of service. Beautiful fresh food, good size portions.
Absolutely love this place ! The staff are lovely ,the food is amazing ..nothing bad to comment, looking forward to the next visit already
A truly great experience. We will be back. Thank you.
Best fish and chips ever
Just amazing, the best haddock and chips!
A dessert of sherry trifle was delightful!
Will make it a must for next time we’re in Bath.
Absolutely excellent gluten free fish and chips but the service could have been a bit more smiley and friendly.
This was a brilliant little find. Really busy friendly place. Appeared really well run and clean. The food was fabulous - lots of options - but we all chose the fisherman’s lunch- cod and chips - all served with mushy peas, tartare sauce, bread and butter , and a mug of Yorkshire tea -£10!!! Really lovely. We were booked for 2pm but rang to ask if we could come earlier - gentleman who answered was really accommodating. All staff were really nice and friendly - only sour note- one waitress was particularly rude and snappy. We ordered 2 starters between 4 of us. She brought them to the table then walked away. I called excuse me , politely after her - to ask for side plates. She barked at me “ wait a minute”. Felt this was unnecessary and totally out of step with how nice the rest of the staff were. Wouldn’t stop me going back though . Chilled, relaxed , friendly surrounding serving good honest food 👍
Delicious! Our table of 3 tried scallops, crab, sea bream and lunch specials sea bream and cod, all amazing! Only let down by queue to order was a bit hectic and the guy at the til disappeared when we got to the front and then also at the end when we went to pay, but hey everyone needs to take 5 now and then. Will be returning!
We had scallops for starters followed by skate. The fish was superb(and the chips were good too).
This was a find on a weekend to Bath, found in a restaurant guide. Very busy and lively, with pleasant, speedy service. Only negative that they couldn't provide us with a second bottle of Chardonnay and the substitute was inferior.
Friendly, happy place with a very nice atmosphere. Good food although my monkfish batter was just a tad soggy. Very good male waiter who was keen to keep the clients happy and informed of menu choices.
As perfect as ever.
Fantastic choice of fresh fish.
Only reservation is over white bread. Might be traditional but would prefer granary
A very enjoyable evening, will certainly return. Staff very friendly and service good
We have visited before as we live close by. The quality of the ingredients is superb, fish so fresh they’re practically flapping. And they know how to cook them just right too. It’s great that they offer grilled and steamed cooking varieties too plus. A cut above!
Chose this place for a special meal for a group of 7 people. Was fantastic. Had been before and it’s always the same expand quality.
This is one of the Best fish restaurant I've been to in years. The welcoming atmosphere and above all the food was tasty and the chips where A1. Definitely coming back
This is the third time I have been to The Scallop Shell. All the staff are charming and the food is first rate!
I will be back
