Great as always. Excellent food and service, can’t fault
In amongst all the challenges of Covid the whole experience was superb
2nd time there and didn’t disappoint
Good food, well catered for vegetarians.
Good service and definitely would come again.
Excellent meal with very good service. Would definitely recommend.
Delicious food and great service
Visited for dinner on Saturday night with husband, son and girlfriend. All very Covid safe with spaced tables, sanitiser and masks and a one-way system. Great choice on the menu and so much home-made and locally sourced food. Home made garlic mayo was fabulous and loved the home-made ice cream. Food was delicious. Beautifully presented and good portion size. Particularly enjoyed the chef's specials. Good service, meal came quickly and staff were attentive. We had a really enjoyable evening and also very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.
In spite of covid arrangements the atmosphere was cosy with enough people present to feel companiable if not intimate. The menu was extensive the food well cooked presented and served including a pie to die for. We were away for a short break and probably wont return but not having eaten out for ages it was a highlight of the weekend.
Enjoyed it and staff all wearing PPE made us feel at ease. All tables spread out and food was so great! Really enjoyed it would go back again !
Some of the food was all a bit stale and old. (Veggie burger bun and mussels in the bouillabaisse). The panna cotta desserts were almost as solid as a rubber ball. The sorbet was lovely though.
Shame - as normally food is excellent.
Great food for lunch, kind and knowledgable staff/owners. Very enjoyable
A must for an evening dinner. Lovely old pub, we were welcomed warmly and shown to our table. Fantastic menu with a variety of dishes. We had a starter and main and it was all delicious and well presented. Staff were attentive and made sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Lovely.
Beautiful pub and great gardens where we ate.
Service friendly and relaxed.
My pork belly was perfect.
Flavours were great.
Burger was a little dry sadly.
Triple cooked chips to die for.
Definitely go again soon
Fabulous service from young staff. Fantastic food and a great setting. Garden is beautiful!
Table was over half an hour late, no staff around, food was slow to come out, and they forgot to mention they had a live music event in the garden which lasted for hours
Super pub, good food and friendly staff and booking worked really well.
Set in a very picturesque village. The food is fantastic, the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Very welcoming to dogs too.
The staff are very attentive and even turned down a loudspeaker adjacent to our table without being asked.
In light of the very positive experience that we had, I find it strange to see some reviews at the opposite end of the scale.
Lovely old pub with a nice big garden and play equipment for younger children. Staff wore masks so we felt safe and the food was all yummy inc children's menu. Washrooms nice and clean. Beautiful location.
Opentable reservation hadn't been received by the staff. Oops. But a nice table was found so no probs.
Maybe phone booking advisable...
Lovely dining in the large outdoor garden(s), and food was excellent. (both the fish and chips, and the chicken burger). Well worth the cycle.
Unbelievably fantastic food. The sardines, salads from the garden and gazpacho soup were amazing.
Lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Staff top notch.
Great food, great pub!
I wasn't overly impressed with any of my three courses. Lovely pub in beautiful setting.
Very good food. Very helpful staff. Shame it rained as outside area was lovely
Nice spot for lunch - excellent garden for children to play in
great food, clean , welcoming. all very inviting. All after lockdown.
Extended are reservation due to traffic food great service quick
One of the best Sunday lunches really tasty gravy crispy Yorkshire pudding succulent lamb and cauliflower cheese included. Very pretty pub and location
Had the roast and was very good -only complaint was deserts are expensive at £7.50!
We went to The Ship Inn for lunch completely by mistake as my husband booked the wrong place but in the end we were so glad that he did! We will definitely be going back. The food was absolutely amazing. The quality of the dishes was way above standard for a country pub. I cannot wax lyrical enough about this place. The service was impeccable, the surroundings were beautiful. The perfect place for a quiet lunch. We genuinely can’t wait to go back.
Apart from our table the restaurant section of The Ship was empty. The waitress was very attentive. We all had soup for the first course which was fine. When the second course arrived it was all over cooked. Admittedly we had taken our time over the first course and I suspect that the second course had been cooked too much in advance and then kept in a hot oven. Some of the chips were almost crisps! We should probably have sent it back but we didn't. We were too polite. Our experience may not be typical but I wouldn't go back there.
Good afternoon, I do apologise for your experience dining with us. If you wouldn't mind contacting us directly, I'd love to look into this further for you, and hopefully find a resolution. Very warm welcome. Good beer & quality food at an affordable price. Best I have seen the pub for a very long time. Congratulations to all involved. Will definitely be back for more.
