Lovely food and ambience again. One problem - the server, we believe, wilfully added a bottle of wine to our bill and hoped we would not notice. Her reaction to us spotting it was really clear. Lots of apologies etc - but she had been caught out and clearly didn’t want us to escalate. We didn’t. Because we love the place. But the lesson is - check your bill very carefully.

Lovely meal, friendly and attentive staff with good attention to detail. Knowledge about the food and talking us through the steak that suited us best was very helpful. Some nice touches that went above and beyond, a glass of bubbles for our anniversary and a little card to mark the occasion. It was nice to have a spacious booth that was very quiet too. Prices seemed to be about the average going rate around Edinburgh for a steak lunch / dinner. It also seems to be standard practice that a 10-12.5% service charge is applied to the bill is standard in hospitality now too. As we are not out very often and it tends to be on special occasions, I do not mind this.

We were looking forward to our dinner in Edinburgh having visited Glasgow on a number of occasions in the past and being very happy with our experience. Unfortunately the beef was really poor and a huge let down. The staff were understanding and amended the bill, but that doesn't take away the fact that we could barely eat it and were so disappointed with the quality. Shouldn't happen in such a lovely restaurant.

Delicious food and steak. We had the beef carpaccio for an appetizer then we shared the chateaubriand for two. It was absolutely amazing! For our sauces we had the peppercorn and mojo verde; both wonderful although the peppercorn was my favorite. DEFINITELY recommend this dining experience!!! Fantastic, accommodating, and welcoming staff. The ambiance is loud, but relaxing. Man, I gotta a tell ya, the chair on the opposite side of the booth is not friendly for men because it leans back too much.

When we arrived for our booking, on time, the chap at the entrance couldn’t find our booking initially and made me like we wouldn’t be allowed in. Eventually he found it, but there was still a lot of back and forth leaving us waiting by the open door for a few minutes. We were shown to a table around the back of the restaurant and initially noticed how cold it was - there seemed to be a draught blowing in between the kitchens and the open front door. The chap didn’t seem able to do anything / close the door. We ordered the sliders and peppers for starters. These were a little underwhelming. We ordered a 600g chateaubriand for main with potatoes and a rocket salad. The steak was exceptional, cooked exactly as we asked for and surpassed my expectations. The potatoes were in many cases too charred / burnt, whilst the rocket salad was just rocket with 2 shavings of Parmesan! By the time we finished our mains, we were simply too cold to stay for dessert. It took us 90 mins in front of the fire to warm up and the next day we both started with cold. I wouldn’t come back. Which is a shame as we were celebrating a special occasion.
