Absolutely love this place!!! Food is amazing..thanks Chef Jimmy!!
We decided to try the spicy belly because we love Manayunk and there was a 1000 point bonus. The menu looked interesting and prices reasonable. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. It's a small casual setting that has a fun vibe. The music was a little loud but when we mentioned it to our waiter Dorian, he quickly addressed our concern. Dorian was friendly and knowledgeable. The beer selection was good. We shared wings with the spicy Korean sauce. There were 7 wings perfectly done (crispy per our request)and not overly sauced. A highlight. We both ordered the bimbop, which had good flavor. I expected more vegetables and wished there was less rice, but that has more to do with my taste then there be anything wrong with dish. We were bimbop novices. It was a fun experience overall.
It was a very busy day and almost every menu item had sold out, lol. We were compensated for the inconvenience with a free round of drinks though!!
Interesting mix of styles, very good food. Knowledgeable server, good value
The food is always unique and delicious with excellent presentation. The servers are friendly and attentive. Value is excellent. We always bring food home because the portions are large.
Totally awful experience. My cousin was visiting from out of town (he lived in DC) and wanted to try some Jamaican food. This place (can’t even call it a restaurant because the service was horrible) popped up on Open Table. So we decided to try it. What an unpleasant experience, our server was grumpy and slow. We ordered a beer flight and he forgot to tell the bar two (2) times. The beer flight arrived with the bill. Our food arrived in five minute intervals… Mine (wait 5-min) my wife’s (wait 5-min) my cousins.
Would not recommend this place to anyone!!!
Took forever to find parking, was little pricey, but good food and good service. Would definitely go back again.
We enjoyed our meal, however, I felt rushed by the waiter to finish my meal so he could clean up. The entree I ordered, Mo-bay bimbap, did not have enough chicken compared to the rice and peas. My friend loved your Japchae. And we both could not stop raving about the Jerk Mondu, delicious!
Food was great! Definitely would recommend!
I really enjoy spending my birthday at spicy belly. The food portions were plentiful and very tasty.
Fun! The food and customer service was spectacular!
Food was good! Had a great time with family. Will visit again!
This was a very cute place with lots of vegan options. The food was very good.
Only one server and drinks were not up to normal taste level to prior visits.
Only sad thing was their was no seitan !! That is what was suggested the most as a recommendation for vegetarians/vegans and you were out:( Also my fiancé said the Rasta punch was weak alcohol wise. (Mine was great!!) lol. That’s all, it was still fantastic! The bartender made me a special drink and it was to dieeee for
Great little local restaurant that had interesting combinations of food. Some in our party didn’t think it was spicy enough but others felt the flavor was great. Good sized portions. Wine is an issue here - very expensive for a carafe as opposed to a full bottle
Unique setting and wonderful service! A bit funky - not as spotless as I would have wished and it took awhile to get our food but it was delicious and we will go back!
Six of us celebrated a birthday at the Spicy Belly on a Thursday night. The service was excellent and the food was diverse, inventive and full of flavor. From the Vegans to the Carnivores at the table, all were satisfied. The bar selection was great too.
Ok, so I've been wanting to go here for about a yr but because of work and me no longer living in Philly; I've been unable to do so. Let me just say that the best part of this location was the bartender Dorian, he was GREAT! The food was hot and came out in a decent time. It was a little pricey but that doesn't matter if the food and are both great. In this case the food was lacking flavor, nothing tasted good. I was highly disappointed!
Truly enjoyed Caribbean style vegan choices! Loved the Jamaican style beyond burger, sweet potato fries, plantains, starting with the trio medley of chickpeas, Asian marinated bean sprouts, and cabbage kimchi... my friend loved the very hot spicy cucumber kimchi, and the Jamaican jerk style seitan, and Rice and beans... also really enjoyed the peach purée and cranberry splash!
Such a good idea but so-so overall. Foods were decent but not great, and a bit overpriced. Very tasty apps/sides. Watery cocktails with minimal alcohol. Waitress was friendly but not really knowledgeable. Desserts were grainy, icy, and had clearly melted at some point, only to be refrozen instead of tossed. If a bunch of friends were going I’d tag along but probably wouldn’t go on my own again for a while.
Really cool little space.. The food is great. Service to
Thank you, for coming and enjoying with us!
Best new food experience in a long time. Very good.
Good was great, bartender was awesome, will definitely be back
I feel like the menu was smoke and mirrors.. Great idea, but the food was not at all impressive.
We will definitely be back - most dishes were a hit (we especially liked the fried rice Banchan).
Great fusion cuisine! We started with their Soeul wings which were some of the best I ever had. They were crispy in just the right way and had a deep flavorful sauce. Next we split the Curry Shrimp and the Bimbap with chicken. Both were a unique mix of flavors that were absolutely new to me and very tasty. There are so many things on the menu that we would like to try. We also had our 2 year old with us and even he enjoyed it. He loved the music. The server also suggested a mocktail for him which he loved. The owner/chef came over to check on us which was so nice. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely be back!
Small joint in Manayunk. Food is excellent overall. Bulgogi Beef was a little “meh” but the Pineapple Bowl was excellent as was the KimChi. Friendly staff, and good specialty drinks.
The curry shrimp was excellent.
The food was just disgusting. They definitely need a change in the chefs.
Second time there, and sadly, the magic was gone. This time the food was not at all outstanding. Appetizers were good, one meal was were ok, but root veggies in shrimp dish were all undercooked and disappointing. My guests are very familiar with Jamaican and Korean food, well traveled, and I wished they could have had a better experience.
Excellent cuisine, lovely drinks and great service
Food was pretty good nothing to brag about, thought for the amount of money paid per dish I thought I’d get more, I chose the pineapple plate which was bland overall even though it looked delicious online, don’t know if I’d give it another chance but I hope they continue growing and progress because I think they have a lot of potential
My entrée was salty and I usually add salt to everything! I informed the waitress but she didn't seem concerned. I guess it was near closing. They were also out of a few things.
My man enjoyed his burger. However, I ordered a dish with sweet potato noodles, mushrooms and peppers added jerk shrimp. It was so boring no favor. I won't order that again. Parking is awful near the restaurant.
The service was good. I might come back in the future to try something else.
I thought the food was not a great representation of either culture. Everything was really salty. It was also not well seasoned. They didn't have three appetizers and one entree, even though they hadn't been open for three hours so I couldn'tvget what I wanted. Overall, I wasn't satisfied and wouldn't go back.
Sorry that you did not enjoy the food, can you tell me which dishes you ordered so i can get that back to the chef? I see the service was marked a 3 also, was there an issue with service? we appreciated the feedback.
Delicious food. Got the pork spring rolls, jerk chicken bibimbap and the shrimp curry. Slightly expensive though. Might be better if cheaper additional charge for proteins.
Great cool vibrant cocktails and fun unique spins on Korean and Jamaican traditional dishes. Perfect for date night or friends foodie adventure.
an unusual taste and change
very attentive waitstaff
not bust when i was there
a good place to go if you want a change of pace
hard to find
impossible to find parking
Went here for a small bday gathering. The food was good. I had the Jerk, and Asian BBQ wings for appetizers. I like how they cooked them differently. The oxtail and rice/peas combo was fire too. The only issue was that they close the kitchen at 10:00. I’m pulling up again to try the curry shrimp.
Glad you enjoy you meal, thank you for coming. Jason
