A lovely location just outside Farnham, Surrey, good parking, loads of outside space, good sized childrens area. only downside is useless wifi (they like you to order on the app, will happily take it verbally.
Absolutely gorgeous tu ked away pub with great food. A tab on the expensive side as a 2 course meal for 3 with no alcohol cost well over £90.00. Well worth it for a special occasion but not for every day
Food was really really good, prices are actually really good for the quality of food, the one thing we had is the burger came out and they said two minutes but we waited 10 minutes longer for the pizza, so the burger was all eaten before my partner got her food and it isn’t nice having to have that
Just great to be able to go out for lunch at a regular location and feel comfortable was great. Attentive staff and good layout.
We sat outside under the Marquee which was well Covid spaced with great ambience and food excellent
This pub has a delightful countryside setting and plenty of outside seating. Although it was a sunny day we sat in the semi-enclosed marquee area in front of the pub, so that we would be a bit sheltered from the slightly cold wind. We were warmly greeted and allowed to choose our own table - not many people there when we arrived so plenty of choice, which was nice. Our order was taken quickly (but two more staff then asked if we wanted to order, which indicated some lack of communication behind the scenes.) The food was delicious (though a little on the expensive side) and the beer (Tongham Tea) was in excellent condition. Chicken and chorizo skewers with rice very tasty though perhaps could have done with more vegetables. Superfood salad with chicken - lovely and a very generous portion. We then placed our order for banoffee pie and coffee, which is where the service deteriorated. The coffee arrived promptly and we waited for the dessert... and waited. We asked a different waitress to see what had happened to it - she disappeared and didn't return... we waited...and waited. We finally saw the same waitress and enquired again. She first of all asked if we were sure we had placed the order. We confirmed that we had. She apologised and tried to explain in broken English that there was a delay. We said we couldn't understand why there was a 20 minute delay (how long does it take to put a slice of cold banoffee pie on a plate and drizzle some sauce over it?!) She went to chase it along and it appeared quickly and was tasty enough. But it's such a shame that this incident spoiled what would otherwise have been a perfect lunch. We would certainly go there again but we really hope the management sort out this problem with inexperienced and poorly trained waiting staff.
Loved it. Good food, great service. Lovely outdoor space.
Socially distance ordering via app on phone which did not work and took a lot of time to rectify.
Food did not come out at same time and a waiter had to be flagged down for the remainder of the food to be brought over but once arrived it was nice.
A very Lovely meal and great service for my birthday.
Very warm and welcoming hosts. The pub looks fantastic! I love what they have done to maximize the outdoor seating.
The food was absolutely superb! My partners sea bass was the best he has ever had, and it was a very generous portion of fish. No seasoning was needed at all - great sign of a brilliant chef!
We will definitely be back soon. Thank you for giving us the most normal day we've experienced in all this madness :-)
Food all came at different times. First two dinners came and we waited so long for cutlery we sent it back. Then two more dinners arrived, one was fine and the other cold. We spent the rest of the meal waiting and chasing for my daughters (5year old) food that it was an appalling meal. We never leave these reviews but terrible.
The Spotted Cow is in a great setting and welcome was good. Suggest the WiFi code which is written on a board should be referred to at the same time as the explanation on how to order using the QR code on the table. So when you come to pay for your order your phone is already on the WiFi.
The Prawn & Scallop Starter was well presented and good but for the price would have expected one more item of each.
The mushroom starter would benefit from a more refined sauce which was a bit gluppy but tasted ok.
The Daviolo Pizza main course was tasty but the base was a little burnt so fell apart when cutting it.
The vegetable portion was very disappointing especially related to £4 cost, 2 small florets of broccoli, 5 very baby carrots and 2 not sure which white vegetable it was meant to be, so big room for improvement.
The wine was excellent but pretty expensive so should have been.
Last but not least no outside heaters or any blankets offered so we’re rather cold, which was a shame.
Location, ambience and service was awesome. Food seemed a bit rushed.
The food was amazing, they have done very well to adapt to covid with the large covered area. Really nice evening, will definitely come back!
Would and will go again (and have been before). All good.
Pleased that they are back and in operation. We have missed our Friday lunches. As usual the service was excellent.
Cold food on a cold day with poor service and one diners almost finished when another just received his meal. Have cancelled future booking.
Very good food but not inexpensive (£25 per person for a main course, water and coffee). Most of the clients were not young and could have done without the music they played although that was turned off after a while. Absolutely delightful staff. Would recommend as is a lovely setting and atmosphere.
Great food , great staff we love this place ......
Had a really lovely meal with friends in the outside 'tent' - great food and service and a nice buzzy feel despite social distancing requirements.
Lovely pub all round... would be great for a summers evening!
Very pleasant atmosphere, our waitress was lovely. Our food was average . The garlic mushrooms were not hot . We both had the veal schnitzel which was very greasy & not crispy coated ,the potatoes were also very greasy
Service on the overall was good but the wait for food is way too long. This has been the case for each visit. Wait of 15 minutes is ok but 30-35 minutes is too much. Food is great! Would recommend if you are ok with wait for food.
The Sunday roast's that we had were excellent, only minor problems were one of our meals the kitchen got wrong, a knife had dried food on it and when we asked a waitress for horseradish sauce she didn't know what it was.
The quality of the food outweighed the problems though, so will definitely go back.
Wonderful, excellent, fabulous etc....
Outside of course; food was fine (I made a not brilliant choice but that's my fault, my friends were delighted) , staff couldn't have been nicer and very attentive, service pretty prompt (they were busy) and, overall, a really good experience. I'll be going back (and trying something different) soon! Thanks, everyone!
The pub seems okay. The shouting out loud of food orders in the garden does get a little distracting and also annoying. It's every minute or so at busy times! Table number are on the tables and so surely the staff should be aware of the table numbers and bring to your table without the need for shouting out numbers. Staff are friendly.
Very disappointing first night out after lockdown.
Table was dirty and service was indifferent. Waited ages for food. Starters were ok but the main burgers were overcooked. We won't be going back.
Great attentive service and lovely atmosphere.
The food was amazing. I had pie of the day & it was truly delicious. The staff were brilliant & I will defo be returning soon ☺️
Warm welcome, reliably good service and excellent food. Good hygiene in practice.
Friendly staff, good service. Like the large gazebo for when it’s raining or cold. Plenty of seating.
Very friendly, good service. Would go again without hesitation. One minor consideration - no outdoor heating and it wasn't a particularly warm evening.
It was wonderful to have a meal out after lockdown. We were made very welcome.
It seems like a nice place to be and especially sit outside with good weather. There are a good variety of seating options. My business friend's Pizza was delicious. That however is where my/our good experience stopped.
1) The sign in procedure and app based ordering are cumbersome - it took us nearly 15 minutes to get through the process. There is too much to fill in and too much to get wrong. This v last - we have none of this where I live.
2) Absolute NO-NO - my chicken fillet skewer was served under cooked/actually raw. Any chef too lazy to properly cook chicken should not be in this (or another kitchen)
3) The waiting staff are noisy in distribution of food. Calling out numbers that relate to the tables people are sitting at. The staff should know the numbers and tables to which they refer.
4) I have to follow a GF diet - options were very limited (almost non-existent)
All in all a surprisingly poor experience for a wealthy neighbourhood such as Farnham. We are much better served in Suffolk - the locals should complain more.
The waiter Ettero was extremely good and so was the food
Nice beer garden, friendly staff, nice pub food. Recommended.
The whole ordering digitally Via the app on your phone is a big no from me.
Also any pub that has a marquee for dining in April needs heaters. Was freezing. Average at best and expensive for what it was.
Very good, but cold but due to the weather and having to be sat outside due to COVID restrictions.
It was very nice, would definitely recommend to others.
