1. Location is very pretty and secluded.
2. Sunday roast was good. Pork was lovely. Beef was cooked beautifully. I first thought they had missed the vegetables, but they were simply hidden under the beef slice!
3. Waiting staff were very courteous and sweet. Especially the older man! Thank you!
Regardless of having made the booking and the restaurant being empty, the manager seated us at a tiny table in the bar area, among constantly moving and talking staff.
We made a booking for Sunday lunch. When we arrived the restaurant was empty (15-16 tables). First, the manager seated us in the middle of the room. I asked if we could take one of the more private tables at the side, yet he insisted that we can only sit in the bar area, because “they are fully booked”.
When we left, only three other tables were occupied.
I saw another couple being seated by the toilets, when the whole restaurant was empty.
It baffles me why he insisted on us having the worst table for Sunday Lunch, with at least dozen tables available. We did make a reservation.
We ate our lunch as quickly as we could. The atmosphere was very unpleasant.
I will not go back.
Food was absolutely delicious and the staff friendly and attentive.
The football was on so inside the pub was empty so not much atmosphere. The conservatory was full with the game on tv- my fault for not checking if they showed sports.
Would have been lovely to sit outside as garden is amazing- but the English weather beat us with torrential rain.
Really lovely location to be eating on such a sunny day.
Lovely location and good food. Strange at table remote order. Never been in a restaurant where food arrived before the drinks and on hot evening that was uncomfortable.
We made a mistake and sat out lots of loud screams children but our fault to sit there as realise it is relaxing for families with small children . If you don’t have small children best to sit in the marquee. They need to sort out system though to speed up drinks
First time visit. Chosen because we had a vegan in the group and this was rated as good for vegan food. However there was only one vegan dish offered and it was a starter. Overall the food we chose was very nice with good service.
Fab as always! Love the Garden section. Chilled and peaceful but still fun and vibey!
Great service even though they were super busy!
Great on all fronts, thank you. Ordered via app ant in person. Pizzas great. Good persistence from staff on ordering dessert or not, recommending pimms as the solution! Great outdoor space. Lovely evening, well done.
It is still a lovely pub but no sandwich options at lunchtime was disappointing and having to do everything through the app was a pain.
Lovely menu, spoilt for choice. The paella was delicious with plenty of chicken and seafood. Attentive and friendly staff and a lovely location particulrly on a beutiful sunny day
Second time we have visited in a few days, food lovely, service and staff quick and efficient even on a busy Friday night. Outdoor seating well adapted for all weathers. We will definitely return again.
Spot on! Thank you Spotted Cow - We will be back soon!
Great food, excellent atmosphere, wonderful see a return to something approaching normality after lockdowns. The Spotted Cow deserves to do well.
Great night. Great service and great food, will return!
This is a great pub, in a beautiful location and particularly good for families with (young) kids as you can sit by the pub bench seats while the kids play in the shaded playground. They have adapted really well to Covid dining have plenty of outdoor seating.
Unfortunately my one big criticism is value for money - the mains salad is extremely pricey for what you get and it’s not the most inspiring salad. For 12.50 I would expect something of higher quality. Also when adding chicken for £3 you get 4 small cubes…
I’d recommend going to the Mains or Pizzas if you’re looking for more value for money.
Lovely garden and pub. Choice for veg food was limited but overall nice.
Food was excellent and we were really looked after despite it being really busy. We sat inside as it was much quieter.
Very good service with drinks and food. We both chose the burgers and they were great . Waitress was very friendly.
We had been here once before so decided to book to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Everything was superb, from the welcome to the coffee. Thank you - would certainly recommend.
Lovely lunch out with friends, very good service, food was good, reasonably priced too, we sat outside, was really comfortable and it all looked very nice.
Will definitely go back.
Enjoyed a lovely family meal in a wonderful welcoming setting - the menu was very varied and the served food was hot and very tasty.
We sat outside and the area was perfect for us to all catch up.
Will definitly be back!!
Excellent food and accomodating staff. Fed a vegan, vegetarian and meat eater with ease.
Food was average, paying system very slow and complicated and service a bit sloppy. Location and outdoor space fantastic and great for kids; will be back for drinks but not for food...
Food generally good and pizzas clearly a speciality. Could have done with a few more salad options for summer menu though.
It was a beautiful day so we sat in the garden, husband had a pizza which you can see them cooking in the pizza oven in the garden and I had the most delicious fish and chips which came with minted mushy peas and tartare sauce . Onion rings were a little oily and we had to remind them about our missing salad but it was quite busy and it’s easily done . Throughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely go again .
A fantastic pub with great food, a beautiful garden with a playground and lovely staff. The place is gorgeous, hidden among trees, quiet and the menu has a good variety of dishes. It's out of the way from the busy streets and very safe for kids. I highly recommend this pub, especially for the ambience and the friendly, lovely, super helpful people too.
Obviously overbooked and with not enough staff. Food took nearly an hour to come and wasn’t very nice when it did come. Staff were complaining about how busy it was and that there weren’t enough of them working. First and last visit.
Garden was lovely with facilities for children. The online ordering system worked well once we got the hang of it. The pizza was delicious, fish and chips were really yummy and other food was ok. The burger was rather overcooked and solid.
The serving team was very friendly but the fact that all our food arrived at different times was disappointing. My son had completely finished his meal by the time the last two dishes arrived. Two adult meals arrived but it took another five minutes to be brought any cutlery. And we had to wait 35 minutes between ordering and arrival for some ice cream - which seems a little excessive. I appreciate you were very busy but I think it is crucial that all food arrives at the table at the same time.
Visited with our 2 teenage daughters booked a table outside easy to order food came quickly and was excellent all 4 of us enjoyed
Really nice place to eat and drink. A few members of staff weren’t complying with COVID rules(wearing masks).
Friendly service, good menu. quality food. good location.
Fantastic food, decent service. 3 courses with drinks worked out at £200 for 4, but that seemed decent value for what we had
Great service, loved the ordering system and app, so easy to use. Food was great, especially the pizzas. Good for children. We will be back
Nice chilled pub with lots of outdoor tables, surrounded by forest. Yum pizza. Would go back!
Wrong main Meal served , was just told he must have misheard you , I get that sometimes things go wrong , but there was no real effort to sort , tried to get us to accept the main , sent it back as we wanted what we’d ordered (as you do) then waited another 40 minutes , said they’d take a round of drinks off the meal , they didn’t , also tried charging us for the wrong mains , then there was a problem with the WiFi , that’s not their fault but they stood and argued about deciding if my payment had gone through or not , and just ignored everything I said , then got aggressive when I pointed out they were just ignoring me and I’m a customer , again I do accept that sometimes things go wrong but the way they handled the things going wrong displayed the worst service I’ve ever had in any restaurant, would never go back , ever
Lovely evening , excellent food, lovely service, really excellent
A British pub set in a woodland, menu as you would expect, solid pub grub.
Lovely restaurant and secluded location. Great food. Large garden.
It was good, but not great. I think it's nicer outside than inside, and the weather was bad, so we ate inside.
Nice under-cover area outside the pub, helpful staff. Lovely food, although I would have preferred a light lunch menu - it was all quite substantial!
The staff are so friendly and attentive without being too much!!
Food was outstanding as usual. My husband had a great birthday meal
