The Spread Eagle
As of January 2018 The Spread Eagle became London’s first vegan pub with all our food, drinks, fixtures and fittings being plant-based and sourced sustainably where possible.
Our doors are open to everyone (families and dogs included) and we cater to all manner of lifestyles. Our fun & friendly staff are always on hand to make sure you feel welcome.
Fab vegan food (even for non vegans!), friendly staff and great atmosphere.
Always love it here. Especially the deep fried cheeze fried
The food is DELICIOUS! The fried potatoes, 'chorizo' tacos, and 'tofish' tacos are all out of this world!
Amazing vegan Mexican food. I wish it was closer to home. My only comment is that they seemed a bit understaffed. Overall I would really recommend it.
Great atmosphere, top quality service, a great selection of drinks and food so it blows your mind
We really loved the pub and how it had been done up. It had a really good buzz about it! We really loved the array of choices on the drinks menu and the food was good!
However, we had to wait 45mins for our food to come, and when it came it felt like it had been rushed. We had seen a table opposite with the same food we ordered when we arrived and they definitely had a greater serving than us. It felt like they might have been running low by the time it got to making ours.
The staff were all so lovely- but it was very slow service, and they seemed understaffed.
I was so pleased to see the menu of the spread eagle as it's often hard to find a place that caters to my mum (gluten free) and brother (vegan) - the 100% vegan menu and a healthy choice of gluten free options meant we were overwhelmed with choice, and for me who has no dietary requirements, I felt excited by the variety.
We were seated at about 14.10, and ordered food by 14.20... we didn't receive our food until about 15.05. The restaurant was busy but the table behind us who arrived after us had eaten their food about 20 minutes before ours came. It was only when I asked a waitress a couple of times how long our food would be that perhaps they realised we'd been forgotten. Unfortunately I had to cancel my order as I needed to get to work but my brother and mum told me their food portions were fairly small and there wasn't much of them when they eventually did come.
I really wanted to fall in love with the place as they menu seems brilliant and I love the atmosphere inside. I'll definitely give it another go and hope that it was just bad luck.
Food was decent enough but service was a bit slow (this was a Friday evening) and given lots of people are there to taste the vegan food they skip away before you can even ask for an explanation.
Food was tasty but quite pricey for portion size. We thought as it was a pub we'd have the table for the evening but then after two hours were told we had to vacate the table - should have read the small print!
Outstsnding vegan brunch i had chick'n with waffles and chilli maple syrup .utterly delicious
This is the 3rd time I've been to the spread eagle & I love it more each time I go.
Great staff and wonderful food - so glad it's my local pub!!
Been wanting to go here for a while and it certainly did not disappoint. The Chick'n wings were incredible as were the deep fried cheeze. Nachos were as good as ever, and the tacos were delicious, with the tofish standing out for me.
Really cool atmosphere, great music, cool decor.
The staff were great, so friendly, answered all our questions.
Only issue i had would be our table location, we were tucked into the corner by the door, was a bit cramped, and got a hell of a chill every time the door was opened.
Not too expensive and we ordered pretty much everything on the money.
Basically, go here, ASAP.
Absolutely perfect - staff were lovely and welcoming plus the food was out of this world!
Great bar with a very good selection of vegan dishes. It’s a must try!
Lovely staff, friendly atmosphere and yummy food :)
The food and the service was great. However it's VERY noisy so wouldn't go if you want to have a conversation over dinner.
We regularly go to the Spread Eagle and it is always amazing. However, last Sunday 20 of us went there for my friends birthday, and the staff smashed the food, hospitality and drinks out the park. We had kids, dog and lots of food orders and they were amazing with everything. Yep there is the prince shrine, the amazing music, the vegan food, but it’s the heart of the place that makes it so special. From what was a rundown boozer to this, it’s what a pub should be.
Great spot. Kid friendly as it's spacious. Good food. Portion sizes were a bit small for the prices charged. Overall we had a very good experience and service although slow was very good (catered for very specific allergies).
Excellent service and a really nice atmosphere. The food is imaginative and delicious.
Outstanding as always. Love this place. Food is amazing and the smoked pineapple cosmopolitan is seriously good.
Absolutely brilliant! Amazing atmosphere and 100% vegan!
Wanted to see what the fuss was about. I enjoyed it but wasn't blown away. Excellent for vegans tho!
First time to the Spread Eagle. Wonderful selection of wine, beers and cocktails. Mexican food was delicious; all fresh ingredients and very tasty. Definitely will return. Well done for going vegan. Lovely pub and staff.
We had a lovely Sunday brunch after a refreshing walk along lee valley .
The food was great, the staff friendly and we were able to take the dog . We will definitely visit again and recommend to others
Fantastic food, great vibe. Chicken burger was amazing.
Lovely pub, great food and super friendly staff. Can’t wait to come back
This is one of the best meals we've ever had in London. We booked brunch for my sister's birthday and had a wonderful time. The pub is absolutely gorgeous, busy but not overcrowded and noisy, and it has a lovely ambience. The food was extremely flavourful and even the meat-eaters couldn't believe how delicious everything was - especially the jackfruit pozole and Chickn' and waffles. This is definitely a new era for plant-based cuisine and The Spread Eagle is paving the way with brilliant service, inventive cocktails (get the Bloody Mary) and delicious vegan options without the cruelty. We'll be back for sure!
The spread eagle has become one of my new local favourites. The food is good, the beer and cocktails are good. All of the staff are super friendly, and there is generally a nice vibe from the other people there as well.
Lovely vegan food with a Mexican feel, down to earth, friendly staff - happy to alter the menu to accommodate my pickiness!
I got a virgin strawberry daiquiri which was also lovely!!
Tasty vegan food at reasonable prices, in a great pub
Superb service, great food.
Love this place and loved the Christmas 5 course menu. Crispy vegan turkey skin, how do they do it?!?!
The food was fantastic as always. Took my non-vegan family here and they really enjoyed it (which is saying something)! Had Nachos, burger and margheritas, all were fab. Service is great , everyone is super friendly.
Fabulous set Christmas menu. Only small complaint was that it took a while to get the bill once finished, but it was clear to see they were really busy, and not a major problem. Delicious!
Have been to Club Mexicans before, but this new venue more than lived up to the hype. Excellent cocktails (including a vegan milk-based one) and great food. Would highly recommend the cheese-style sticks and the cauliflower. Thanks for a great meal!!
My absolute favorite food and bar spot in London. Great food, great staff and great pub.
Really fun place to go for a night out! Great old school music and fantastic food! Will definitely go again - highly recommend this place.
Had a great meal here on Saturday night. Nothing fancy, just excellent vegan Mexican dishes (I am a confirmed omnivore): fresh and delicious nachos to share, buffalo "chicken wings" and an assortment of tacos, all excellent. Friendly service. There was even a mini old-school rave in the back bit. They ramped the sound system up after 11 so if you are after a quiet night you might want to leave then.
Service was very friendly and efficient.
I would have like a few more hand pumped ales perhaps but the beer selection was good and one of our party said their margaritas were pretty good.
I would definitely go back, Homerton obviously clearly now on the foodie map.
