The Spread Eagle Restaurant

Last minute decision to go for Sunday lunch and we really enjoyed it. Good was great, loved the decor and ambiance was really relaxed.

Beautiful setting in the heart of Thame. The restaurant decor and atmosphere was perfect for couples, spacious and elegant. We liked the romantic music which was set at just the right level to be able to be able to talk easily. The food was good value but pub food which didn't fit the up-market surroundings. Staff were friendly but one ate at the bar which might be ok in a pub but not here. Overall it was enjoyable but we'd rather pay more for a fine dining experience in such a lovely place.

Been here many times this will be our last,my hey didn't have our booking,mix up on their part,had to wait fir tables to be made ready. Wrong menu given out mix up over which they should hand out.foor took ages to come couple of meals were really awful ,complained to manager who wasn't really much help. Some what spoiled our friends dy out

Really lovely evening meal. Tasteful decoration, comfortable seating, attentive service and background music at a sensible volume so conversation possible! Good variety on the menu and reasonably priced. Would say it was suitable for casual meetings or celebrations. I'm not a drinker so can't review bar or wine list but my fellow diners seemed happy with their wine! I will absolutely use this restaurant again.

Eaten here many times,this visit service was very slow, our three meals arrived after long wait
One of the meals was wrong, same thing with desert/cheesboard . We have to wait ages to get things sorted out, our server very apologetic saying things would be made right when bill arrives. Another long wait for bill as staff had changed and less there, very nice young lady soon dealt with the problem with our bill as we had been charged for four meals not three.
Person who had been dealing with the mix up hadn't informed her before they left.
Only good thing was two of us had senior meal deals, food is usually great there,this time is was just ok.

We were a group of 4 living in Thame so thought we'd give the place a go despite the bad reviews. We won't be going back. The food is really bad and the service doesn't add any value. We also thought it was very overpriced. Shame as it could have potential.

I have eaten at The Spread Eagle before and have always been impressed. We both enjoyed the meal and found the service very friendly and accomodating. The chips were the best I have ever eaten and we can also recommend the cod and the salmon main courses.

Excellent food and pleasant quiet atmosphere at the Spread Eagle in Thame. Good value and excellent food though there was, despite the previous plaudits, no steak on our menu. Slightly spoilt by the dried ketchup engrained on the rim of our table!
