Restaurant closes at 1am,-when making a booking please allow yourself as much time as possible to relax and enjoy your visit.
Outside area-closed at 12am ,which we recommend booking in advance.
Situated in the coastal village of Muchalls, just off the A90, and 10 minutes from Aberdeen and Stonehaven,The restaurant derives its name from the sea stacks located on the beautiful surrounding coastline.

It is brought to you and led by head chef and owner Andy Smart, who’s aim is to offer a flexible and relaxed environment where everybody is welcome.
Dogs are also welcomed too.(we have treats and water bowls for them!)
Dining in a relaxed environment , the food style is seasonal and inventive and draws inspiration from international flavours, whilst using local suppliers, with an emphasis on simplicity, and where the staff are both friendly and professional.

Friendly efficient staff who worked very hard. The place was busy and they coped well. Their friendly nature and banter really was amazing and should be commended. We did however have to ask twice for a whisky to have with cheeseboard... it arrived after cheeseboard was eaten... we had to ask twice for bill...however they were busy. The food...wow amazing. We all enjoyed everything. Atmosphere was pleasant... once the screaming kids left. Lovely to see a dog in. Definitely a new favourite and can't wait to return. Brilliant staff, fabulous food ... great experience. Thank you

This is one of our favourite eating places. I enjoyed a starter of Cullen skink which was very tasty and packed with smoked fish and potato. My main course was the tried-and-tested Stack burger. This was nicely presented with a crusty roll, meaty burger, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The triple cooked chunky chips served with the burger were absolutely perfect! Very good service and reasonable value.

We had a fantastic meal at The Stack! We went on a Wednesday - they do a special midweek deal on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Very good value and a great selection for all courses. Been a while since I’d been but I’ll definitely go back. Staff were very nice and the chef even came out to speak to us about something the waitress was unsure about. Only small negative point was the room was cold and didn’t heat up in the 3 hours we were there. I’ll wrap up better next time I visit! Thank you!
