The Stamford Public House
Please note: The Stamford Public House is a dog friendly venue when dining in the Bar Area. Please select a 'Bar Table' when making your reservation. Dogs are not allowed in the main restaurant. Thank you
Great meal with great service and lovely venue. Sun was shining and our table enjoyed the whole experience.
Really enjoyable meal at the Stamford for a family birthday. The food was fantastic as always and the service was perfect. Thank you. Will be back again soon.
The rugby was on so they were not serving food in the bar, we had a dog so couldn't go into the restaurant. They bent over backwards ensuring that we got a table sorted - they are always so lovely and do everything can to ensure you have the best experience.
Really good value Sunday lunch, well cooked, well presented and the service was attentive without being intrusive. All in all we had an enjoyable meal and will definitely return.
Great Atmosphere and high quality surroundings. Good selection of beers. Sunday lunch was excellent and good value for money. Highly recommended
Service was very pleasant however the food was very oily.
Children's portion of pasta in tomato sauce we initially commented that for our 8 year old girl of moderate appetite the portion size was too small and that the only solution was to buy her 2 meals which I thought was a very poor and non customer focused solution, I question therefore whether it was fresh or a ready meal set portio ? as we only wanted an extra spoonful. When it arrived the child's pasta meal tasted really salty and oily and we had to send it back. Our girl was offered an icecream as an apology but then we were charged for it on the bill!
The pub is lovely and the waitress was really pleasant about dealing with our complaint but I would definitely not recommend the food particularly as suitable for children given the saltiness and small portion size.
Great pub, good service and good food. Felt very welcome by all staff and made special space for my nephew.
My favourite pub food in the area, never a bad meal and always friendly attentive service.
this is my favourite place for Sunday lunch ever! They serve the best gravy and the staff are always so lovely!
The food was delicious! But it’s a shame it was let down by the service. Once our food had come, nobody seemed to bother with us after that, no one asking if everything ok with our meals, no one asking if we needed more drinks (we only had the 1 drink we started with) or anything else. We sat waiting with our desert menus for ages, including a toilet trip with a toddler (which isn’t quick!) still no one came. We gave up and went over to the desk to ask to pay. We mentioned to the lady we gave up on deserts, but nothing was said... disappointed.
This is a nice pub, and the food is good.
There's one issue the pub has a separate restaurant area that you need to request specifically in your booking otherwise you'll end up sat in the bar. Open Table has two types of tables "standard" and "bar", I assumed standard meant the restaurant but it turns out they don't use it to mean anything - which seems a bit stupid. I ended up in the bar which was relatively noisy - the music is quite loud and was told there wasn't anything available in the restaurant.
Worth a try though
Great food, new chef is amazing.
Friendly, helpful staff.
The Stamford is one of my favourate places to visit! Its my local pub which provides Great food and a wide variety of drinks especially Gins! also the atmosphere is great!
Another great evening and lovely food at the Stamford Arms. Friendly helpful staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our vist the second in month o. My only complaint is that I ordered crispy deep fried squid rings as a starter which when they came were barely cooked - almost as bad when they came back the sgecond time. It was only after sending them back yet again that they arrived “crispy”. Otherwise the haddock and fries were superb, the service excellent and the general ambience great so we’ll definitely visit again.
Fantastic food! Amazing ambiance both kid and dog friendly!
I love the cozy, relaxed feel of this pub and it's a real asset to the neighborhood. However the staffing on New Year's Day was not sufficient to give us the level of service I've come to expect when eating there. We had pre booked and I must admit I did leave feeling slightly disappointed that the experience didn't live up to what I'd expected. I felt rushed and that my custom wasn't appreciated as much as it has been on the many other occasions I've been. However it won't stop me from giving them another try as it is always brilliant usually, and I really appreciate having it nearby.
As always, excellent food friendly and professional
staff, lovely atmosphere on Christmas Eve.
Faultless, will def return
Service was friendly but very understaffed leading to long waits for drink refills and orders
From the manager to the bar staff - always friendly, helpful and great fun. Went out of their way to give us the best day for a welcome home party. Food was imacluately presented with amazing flavour. Would recommend to anybody wanting a friendly atmosphere with good people.
Very poor effort at a Christmas Dinner - turkey was cold and the veg was very below par. Roast potatoes would have broken a toe if dropped on it. All round a very poor experience.
We had our work team Christmas meal. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We were put in the small side room which was decorated beautifully and really Christmassy. Really enjoyed it, great time had by all.
Great place great service
restaurant was very cold, service excellent, food was great
Raw parsnips and cold food spoilt the meal. Obviously after such a long time not doing food it is taking a bit of time to get it right again. Staff levels were low and stretched
Really enjoyable Sunday Lunch experience. Decided last minute to bring our dog along and our booking was changed over the phone to seating in the dog friendly bar area. This was really appreciated. Service throughout the afternoon was fantastic. Food was of a high standard, the only disappointment being the creme brûlée which was more like a pot of custard with crumbled biscuit on top. The bar area does get busy and lively but this is one of the reasons we enjoy it so much here. Would definitely recommend.
The parfait had been left under the hotplate for too long resulting in the topping being liquid and the whole dish turning into slop
The chips with the burger seemed to be well past the first flush of youth (warmed up after lunchtime service?) and smelt of cooking fat
After finishing the first 2 courses, we were offered the dessert menu, and despite deciding not to take a dessert, we did decide to have one cup of coffee. However, despite the waitress passing us several times to clear up a recently vacated table, she made no effort to either check on our dessert or other requirements.
In hindsight, we probably should have made our dissatisfaction known.
We walked out after paying the bill.
Food was great but the lady serving the room needed more help. She was very good and nice, but only having one table staff to serve a full room on a Saturday night meant she simply couldn’t get round everyone. We ordered two drinks that never arrived and our food order was wrong initially, and it was simply down to there not being enough staff. Food was excellent though and will definitely be going back.
food tasted good but we had to wait so long for it and then when it came it was cold so it had to go back to be reheated. they did warn us of a delay when we sat down but for the food to come cold once wed waited so long was very disappointing. also whilst the sunday roast over all was good once hot the beef was really tough and not at all easy to cut/eat. its a lovely place but unfortunately needs to improve or people won't go back!
Lovely restaurant but very limited vegetarian options. Initially looked at the menu for Sunday dinner on the website but this wasn't what was on offer when we arrived on the day.
