Another lovely evening in this lovely, intimate restaurant. The food, service and ambience are just wonderful. We keep returning and are never disappointed.
Lovely restaurant with lovely food. Food nicely presented. Staff really nice and friendly . Would definitely recommend and would love to go back some time in the future
lovely setting for an intimate meal, good friendly service but not intrusive. food was excellent, will visit again.
Great meal. Service was fantastic and a lovely romantic atmosphere. Stayed 3 hrs but never felt unwelcome.
What a great way to end our visit to Edinburgh! Great food, lovely space and super friendly service! If you’re ever in Edinburgh you should definitely visit. We’ll definitely be back next time.
Amazing food and service!
Outstanding as ever. Food never ever disappoints. Service was very friendly as well as being efficient and professional.
Just love this restaurant. Only wish we didn't stay so far away.
When my 18 year old daughter and I showed up for our reservation, the server asked if she was 18. My daughter had to produce her ID before being seated. This is not a bar or pub, but a lovely little restaurant with about ten tables. It’s described as romantic and intimate. The server explained that they have a very specific license. It was weird in a town that has not blinked and eye at her being in pubs or bars or having a glass of wine with dinner. I did not ask what would have happened if she did not have her ID or had not been 18. However the next day, we walked by one of Stockbridge other venues and there was a sign stating no one under 18 allowed- not even infants. So check with the restaurant before bringing your under 18 year old.
Best restaurant in the UK!
The food was pretty good although the main courses were only warm. My friend's steak was cold but she didn't want to make a fuss. Provision for coeliacs wasn't great very few dishes were gluten free and the preferred option for making dishes gluten free was to remove an item from the dish. Staff were very nice though.
Excellent restaurant providing a comfortable atmosphere, superb food and friendly, helpful service. It provided the best meal I have had this year and I will certainly return.
As always the Stockbridge Restaurant was wonderful - it always feels special!
This was my second visit to The Stockbridge Restaurant having been there in January of this year. This time I was with family and had already recommended it highly so was pleased that nothing had changed since my previous visit. Staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, the host Jane always makes you feel very special and that nothing is too much trouble. We had the sea bass and the steak and both were excellent. I would highly recommend this little jewel in Stockbridge.
We had our son's 21st birthday here recently and it was great. The menu was excellent as was the wine list. The staff were attentive and informative and went as far as to put a candle on the cheese board as a birthday surprise for him. We didn't order pudding otherwise I'm sure that the candle would have been on that!
Booking was made due to there being a vegetarian menu this was however fairly one dimensional. Had 3 courses off the a la carte menu . We both had the duck which was well prepared but there wasn't much else on the plate to compliment the flavour and the vegetables were overcooked for our liking.
Dessert was underwhelming ...had better at a pub the next day.
For the price not value for money
This is a low key restaurant with excellent food. We both chose seafood entrees which were excellent
It was good, but the service it was not too good we were waiting to much for the food and drinks.
Absolutely marvelous experience! The ambience, warm personal attention and meals were superb.
The lamb was the best we’ve ever eaten. My wife called it a religious experience. We will return to Edinburgh and Stonebridge!
Really good food and price. Would thoroughly recommend.
Outstanding cuisine, very attentive and pleasant staff, informal and high class ambience. Our best dining experience in UK over the last few years
Really enjoyed the simplicity and high standard of food and attention to detail - at a great cost too! Will certainly revisit and highly recommend to others.
The restaurant is suitable for all sorts of gatherings , subdued decor but welcoming. The food was excellent with good choices of creative food made with fresh and local ingredients. Staff were charming, attentive but not overly so. Would definitely go again and recommend.
Great find for last night in Scotland!
Everything from the ambiance as we walked in the door to food and service were outstanding. I was entertaining my client and we never felt rushed throughout the entire experience.
Excellent value and I would 100% recommend to family and friends.
Very enjoyable - interesting food beautifully presented and a "white tablecloth" ambience without being stuffy. We went on the Sunday night with the benefit of BYOB which made the event very good value we felt.
The only criticism would be the slightly cheesy background music.
Quietly understated but classy. Staff very attentive without being intrusive. Lovely food and nice addition of little amuses bouches!
Food & staff were very good. 2 little points - my wife's meal was luke warm & no petite fours with coffee but as we were out for all special meal with friends we didn't make a fuss. Won't stop us coming back & friends thoroughly enjoyed it.
A cosy restaurant with very attentive staff.
The food is superb, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection, couldn't fault anything. Can't wait to return.
Everything was amazing- it’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a 3 course meal so much!
This is a lovely little restaurant serving excellent food to a very high standard. We were a party of 5 who struggled to chose from the admittedly small menu, but that was because everything sounded delicious. We were not disappointed by our various choices, all of which were expertly prepared and beautifully presented.Very friendly and efficient service as well. This is a hidden gem of a place.
I was my wife's birthday in February but life is busy so it took us until May to find a quiet moment. This restaurant is a gem. The service and attention is friendly but not intrusive. The menu looks limited but look beyond the words. We had lamb and it was superb, well presented, full of flavour, not too much on the plate. Then we had dessert, rice with apples ( 10+) and rhubarb crumble (individually cooked to order) also 10+. Equal to and better than many quality London restaurants.
I would recommend you try and visit, you will not be dissapointed
The waiting staff must be some of the friendliest in Edinburgh, always smiling. The decor is slightly dated, but the food is of a high quality & flavour. Overall, its offers well-above average value for money. Highly recommended!
This was our first time at the Stockbridge even though it is very close to us,but we will defiantly be back again. The whole experience was really good, the staff were attentive in a quiet way food was excellent as was wine so we were very happy with everything.
3nd visit here. Looked after very well! Lovely food you always know will be good. Romantic chilled evening!!
What a wonderful restaurant! We had booked in advance as we'd never been to Edinburgh before and we were thrilled to find this hidden gem!
All I can say to anyone looking for exceptional service and divine food is make sure The Stockbridge is on your list.
Excellent food and lovely service. Restaurant was a bit empty so the ambiance suffered a bit but might have been our timing (start of a long bank holiday weekend when most of the city had escaped to the country it seemed!) would absolutely return.
First time at this restaurant. Very good table d'hôte menu. We're on a budget, and didn't order drinks, but the staff didn't seem to mind. There was an amuse-bouche, and a pre-dessert "mini" dessert. The restaurant was a bit louder (with conversation from other tables) than I was expecting, but this was ok. Recommended.
This was our first time at this restaurant, heard lots of good reviews from friends and we weren't disappointed! Amazing food, lovely atmosphere and lovely staff. We'll definitely will be back :)
Warm welcome and great service. Understated decor but food was superb, really could not fault it, especially liked the Avocado ceviche served with the Scallops, superb. Not too fancy but skillfully executed an put together. Restaurant was smaller then I'd expected but its in a basement so not surprising, a wee hidden gem.
Cute little basement restaurant. Pre set menu for £35/person seemed to be good value. No fuse/more traditional style of dinning. It’s nice to go to a restaurant that isn’t overly pretentious.
