It's while since I've had the opportunity to dine at The Stockbridge Restaurant and was pleased that it had not lost its charm and ability to produce innovative and delightful dishes. My sister and I, dedicated brunchers, decided to treat ourselves to an evening out with some fine dining for our birthdays this year (only 4 days apart) and the Stockbridge Restaurant provided the perfect venue and meal. With just the two of us, and not sharing the same tastes in wine, we were able to choose a couple of wines 'by the glass' each to suit our menu choices, and palates. Following our amuse bouches and some lovely fait maison bread, I had a delicious trio smoked duck breast, foie gras and duck confit salad, whist my sister enjoyed the spiced pigeon breast, with figs and prune. I followed up with the rack of lamb and bean cassoulet whilst my sister had the grilled halibut with fried quail egg and crispy pancetta. We felt that dessert would have been just too much for us that night, but there was tempting menu. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented, and we were pleased to note that vegetables were part of the main dishes (ordering separate sides is so irritating!) The menu is not extensive, but there was a good, varied choice - IMO something to suit all tastes. And I noted that dietary requirements would be catered for, if advance notice given. The service was just right - friendly, helpful and readily available My sister has returned to her home town delighted with her first meal at the Stockbridge Restaurant - somehow I don't think it will be our last!
Fantastic food, even better service. Everything was beautifully prepared and elegantly presented.
I could not have been happier. Possibly the best meal I've ever had. Food was divine, drinks delicious, service excellent. Wonderful experience overall, can't recommend Stockbridge highly enough.
Excellent food and service. Very friendly and professional. Would defiantly visit again if I was in the city. Wonderful evening.
This has always been one of our favourite Edinburgh restaurants, but on this occasion the service left a lot to be desired. No problems with the food, the shredded beef cheeks starter was excellent, as was the lamb and halibut main courses (not on the same plate!). We also managed to find a 12/5% red wine, unfortunately the only sparkling water comes in very large bottles.
Problem was, we knew that they wanted the table back for 915pm, having booked for 7pm, so finished our mains at 8pm. 30 mins later, one of the staff asked us if we were finished, erm, Yes. We asked for a dessert menu, which arrived after another 10 mins by which time we did not feel like ordering anything.
Pay more attention to table management, the food is very good.
Lovely food, beautifully presented. Quiet atmosphere. Cosy and high quality.
An excellent venue with first class food. The variety of tastes each dish provided was a pleasure to endure. The dishes were perfectly balanced and cooked to perfection - a must visit venue for food lovers.
Food was excellent.
Very friendly staff who were very attentive.
We had a brilliant meal at the Stockbridge restaurant. It wasn’t full, but the staff managed to get the balance between formal dining and a pleasurable relaxed dinner.
Will definitely go back for a special occasion
Every time we visit Edinburgh we always make a booking for Sunday evening , food is always excellent presentation lovely and staff very friendly and look after you.
This was our second visit and as before everything was exemplary.
Our waitress was lovely: friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and quick to try to improve our evening whenever an opportunity presented itself.
The food was beautifully presented and delicious: meat. Poked exactly as requested , vegetables the right amount of al dented or crispy as required. Flavours just right.
Our wine recommendations were also excellent.
Very well done to everyone and thank you!
Very friendly staff and wonderful food. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
A spontaneous decision as we were passing by which was a good choice. The staff are friendly and are ready to make a suggestion. For the starters spiced pigeon and cod with scallop were chosen and were both fantastic with excellent flavours. Following this came the venison and cod with crab. The standard did not drop.
Great atmosphere and the service was excellent. Quite a small restaurant so atmosphere was quite intimate.
The food was excellent and very seasonal. This is the second time we had visited and it didn't disappoint.
Mothers Day Lunch started very well but as we were about the last to arrive at the restaurant by the time our main course came the kitchen had obviously ran out of food and were stretching everything to the limit. As we were waiting we had to ask twice for our wine to arrive as the staff were obviously not coping. We saw other diners receive a decent sized slice of salmon on crushed potatoes, with crab and scallop beignets in a lobster bisque. When mine came the salmon was a slither of overcooked salmon and a wrinkly beignet on a plate with more crushed potatoes than I could eat. It was a complete disappointment.
The comment was that everything was the same weight in the kitchen but I can assure you that by the time I received mine everything had shrunk.
We didn,t stay for dessert as we were so disappointed.
Fantastic food and service. Great dining experience, thoroughly recommend. Hope to visit again next time in the City.
It was the worst night of the year weather-wise, all transport was off, red warning on the news. By contrast, The staff could not have been more welcoming. Loved it.
The ambiance at the Stockbridge restaurant was excellent and even though the restaurant was extremely busy everyone knew their role and the service was impeccable . Drinks were served quickly and the food was really good . We would have no hesitation when we next stay in Edinburgh to dine here again . There is a great cocktail bar next door too
Excellent food, service and ambience. Thoroughly recommended!
The menu and quality of food is always great. And for the non alcoholic drinkers ( drivers ) there is a nice choice of non alcoholic drinks too!
One of the reasons we always go back is that you can have conversations without having to ask to repeat things. The decor is chosen in such a way that it dampens noise to a very acceptable level.
Service and attention to details is great.
This was actually the second time we have been to the Stockbridge Restaurant. The food is excellent and the service is even better. Recommend it for special occasions.
Worth every penny. Well done team.
We don’t normally dine out on Valentines as find it’s overprice and undelivered! But wow! How wrong could we be. This little hidden gem was utterly amazing. Fantastic food and unbelievably excellent value for money x
It's always a great experience dining here. It's a small, intimate restaurant. The food is divine and the service attentive. We try and dine here every time we visit Edinburgh. We've never been disappointed. It's consistently a great experience.
Fabulous food and a lovely atmosphere. Service was attentive but not overbearing. All in all highly recommended.
Food and service were excellent. The restaurant is quite small but this only adds to the intimate atmosphere and general cozy feel The Stockbridge Restaurant works hard to foster. £30 for a fairly average bottle of Proceco would be my only slight gripe.
Overall, highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.
Excellent service. Super menu. Great wine selectiin
Fantastic food, staff and ambience, can't fault it it any way.
Lovely restaurant, great staff and wonderful food. Would definitely recommend!
This menu was very limited. It’s not at all child friendly!
There was only ravioli stuffed with squash that was remotely okay for a child. The chef was supposed to make plain cheese ravioli for my daughter but instead made the squash... it cost over 15 pounds and was a total loser.
I had a salmon terrine which was pleasant. Not too impressed but very nice servers.
My wife and I booked this restaurant on our trip to Edinburgh for our First Anniversary. It was the perfect venue for us, being small enough to be intimate for two but also big enough to offer an excellent menu. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in food, wine and a perfect atmosphere.
A great local gem for us. Small and intimate, the food, service and wine were all excellent and this is definitely somewhere to have a dinner for two or with friends.
One of the nicest restaurants I've ever eaten at, went there for an anniversary and had an amazing meal, the service was fantastic as well, couldn't have been nicer. Will definitely be back!
Another wonderful meal and staff attentive as always at the Stockbridge restuarant one of Edinburghs gems tucked away in Stockbridge very highly recommend this place
Best kept secret in Edinburgh. Book it - you wont regret it.
This was my third visit to the Stockbridge and it was just as good third time round. Interesting menu, great ambience, fabulous food and welcoming friendly staff. It always feels like a private dining experience. We'll definitely be back.
My wife and I really enjoyed the entire experience at the Stockbridge Restaurant; from the outstanding service, to the unique menu featuring high quality locally sourced ingredients to the very comfortable ambience! Outstanding in every way.
The Restaurant is below street level down a few steep steps . When we visited it was midweek so very quiet , the food was excellent , we had the duck . The waitress was very friendly and attentive and altogether it was a very enjoyable experience.
Great restaurant & service. The food is always amazing, always such a treat to visit. Highly recommend!
The wait staff were very friendly. The food was some of the best we had in Edinburgh. The appetizer and pre-dessert were a welcome surprise, as was the bread basket. Chocolate brûlée is a must.
excellent meal - good choice on menu - warm and cosy restaurant
