The Stoke House
We ordered rib-eye steak and flank steak. Good but not outstanding. Considering the price, it should be considered good value for money.
Atmosphere is lively and noisy. Great to have a happy mood but not too good if your are looking for an romantic dinner.
Très sympa, un peu trop bruyant
Fantastic food. The dinner for two option coupled with one salad and one side was enough food for two adults and one nine year old child, with some to spare. The service was excellent, even though it was busy, and the place welcomed our nine year old, though I wouldn’t call it a “kid friendly” place. Decent for kids for a pre theater dinner, but I wouldn’t take them there for a late dinner.
I highly recommend reservations. We made an early reservation at 1745 to make sure we made a 1930 show, and the place filled up quickly around 1800. My only negative critique is that the restaurant was exceedingly warm. Finally, don’t skip the desert! The Apple crumble is fantastic.
Excellent food, great service. Air con was broken so it was vert hot! Our waitress was very helpful and opened a side door for us to get some air in
Good for cocktails at happy hour. The food was fine but lacked flavour.
Wonderful pre-Hamilton dinner. Lush cocktails. Enjoyed our meats from the smoker!
The service was great. Food was fine but expensive and not mind blowing. Pudding was best.
We did have problems with the meat being overcooked, but the management were very obliging and did everything they could to put it right. Service was very good from the young ladies, very attentive and concerned that we were not happy the way the meat was cooked. The 'real gravy' isnt really as it was very thin and initially arrived luke warm, but came back piping hot but still very thin .
The air conditioning did not seem to be working as it was very hot inside, and we moved outside as soon as we had eaten.
Not much variety on cocktails or types of Gin, but its located in a very buzzing area which is conveniently near to Victoria train station.
Overall I have awarded a 4 star, but I think they could easily get a 5 star if the chef ensures he doesn't overcook the meat, as it was very tasty.
We will definitely give it another try.
Really enjoyed our meal - delicious lamb and excellent house wine - attentive staff
We will come back next time we are in London
Lovely staff and atmosphere. Food was amazing. Really recommend the Lamb Belly not fatty at all and really tasty
Lively venue near Victoria Station. Have been there several times. Always find the main dishes good value and tasty - but the desserts are a bit of a disappointment. Good deal with 2 cocktails for £12 before 7pm - nice idea but why should they have to be 2 the same?? Noise level rises and becomes quite difficult to hold a conversation across the table.
The meat platter was great, the service was good and the ambience was good!
It's such a small thing, but the group I was with were great steak fans and the Stoke House markets a big 'smoker' menu and grill. However, steak without chips is like salt without pepper, it doesn't work and it seemed really odd not to have that on the menu at all, for anything. So took the shine off the experience. I'm veggie and those options were ok, but I given the many options in the Nova complex alas I'd recommend keep on walking.
Food was nice enough but the medium-rare beef was very much medium and the lamb was a small portion. All pretty pricey for what it was.
the food was really tasty ... we had a table inside and it was really warm which was a little uncomfortable staff were very patient with my 2 1/2 niece ... Will definitely go again.
great food, nice ambience, staff attentive, but when it got busy they forgot some food extras we had to ask for. But actual food was superb.
I keep coming back to the Stoke House as it never fails to deliver. The short rib and hispi cabbage are both 'must haves'. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely evening though we were caught out by the "Happy Hour".
Good food and excellent service. Our servers couldn't have been more helpful.
Well positioned and good food and service. Will go again.
Lots of undisclosed fees in our bill. The daily drink special was unclear and I ended up paying for a drinking I did not intend on getting.
Business lunch. Good price, great food. The service was fast and efficient. It was very quiet when we visited so it may not be as good when busy- but I will be happy to return and find out- the food was VERY good.
Food was enjoyable and salmon was delicious, but roast beef had some large areas of fat which lowered the portion size. Cocktails were great and staff were very friendly, I marked this down though as they werechecking in too regularly and interrupting our conversation and meal; personal preference as I know others like this type of service.
My family and I dined here for my birthday on Sunday. We were disappointed that a large number of the items on the menu had run out and we were not told until we ordered. However, the staff were very friendly and did try to make up for the problem which was appreciated (and it was not the waiting staff’s fault). The food that we did have in the end was very nice, and they gave me a lovely birthday surprise for my dessert.
There were no lamb left nor brewdog beers, which is why I booked at the Stoke House in first instance. We then had the meat feast which was really good.
I never write reviews but I booked this for Fathers day - the meat we had was tough and badly cooked, the vegetables overcooked., the waiting staff were unable to accommodate special requests and didnt look up from their iPads when taking orders.
it is a noisy restaurant with very little ambiance but that wouldn't have mattered if the food lived up to what they put on their website. Sorry but won't be going anywhere near it again.
This was my 4th visit to The Stoke House after watching Hamilton at the Victoria Palace. The food is reasonably priced and delicious, and the staff are always welcoming, efficient and courteous. The location is excellent and the atmosphere in the Stoke House is lively but not too loud. I would definitely recommend the Stoke House to anyone for a pre or post theatre meal.
My daughter and I ate at the Stoke House before the Hamilton show. We really enjoyed it, food and service was really good and the restaurant has a great vibe. Our food, drinks and desert came really quick and we had no problems getting to the show on time. Thanks!
The food was excellent, but service, although friendly, was overbearing. Various waiting staff kept coming to the table one after the other to ask if ready to order, even when asked to come back in 5 minutes. Didn't really have time to look at menus, or have a chat. We were wanting to be able to have a relaxing lunch, but it was quite stressful having the staff constantly coming to the table. We could understand if the restaurant was crowded and they needed to shift the tables, but it was a very quiet day.
Amazing food, happy hour cocktails and great service! Would definitely go back!
We had the smoked meat platter for two. Presentation was poor and the platter was placed down by the waiter without any detail of what was on the plate. The food was ok on the whole but wouldn’t be excited about going back. It is a nice looking restaurant inside though
Booked this restaurant prior to theatre matinee performance, was in walking distance so was perfect location. However the food was not great for the money I would have expected a lot better quality food. The service was slow and this was not due to the number of diners.
Ordered two cocktails and the Sunday dinner for two. The food arrived within minutes of our cocktails; and took too much time to get the server’s attention to order wine. Service felt rushed and not up to standard.
Food was very good. Ambience was good, too. For the money, service was a letdown.
food is OK, but the service is really good and friendly
Delicious food, although it arrived alarmingly quickly after we ordered. The waitress was overkeen though and we felt very rushed even though we still had the table for more than thirty minutes. I had told them it was our wedding anniversary but the waitress interrupted us numerous times pushing for us to order dessert or more drinks. It was a shame because the food was very tasty with perfectly cooked meat and lovely flavours. The cocktails were good too. Would go back but would insist on a slower pace.
some personable service people tough meat
limited wine by the glass
i smoke meat and it is not dry like Stoke
Absolutely terrible. The food was appalling. Three of us ordered steak which came with sweet potato. The sweet potato was so burnt it was not edible. I ordered a medium steak this was raw on the inside and burnt on the outside. It was one of the worse meals i have ever had and most tables were sending their food back.
Very tastey food, great cocktails.
Service was good and staff helpful although a little less attentive once it got busy.
Nice food and atmosphere.
The waiter comes every 15 mins and ask how we are doing or what we are going to have next is a bit exhausting though.
We brought our parents to London to see Wicked. We picked this place due to proximity. We had an excellent experience because of the wonderful fare and service. The wait staff works together to make sure you have everything you need. The food is fresh and delicious.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Can be quite noisy at times if you are sat in the middle of the restaurant.
