Great food. Lively atmosphere and a decent price
Meal let down by poor service, waited for 15 mins to place dessert order when restaurant was very quiet , totally ignored , gave up and had pud elsewhere.
Great venue. Good food and good value for money. The staff were welcoming even though I was a little early (before they were open for business). They even charged my phone for me with a smile. Highly recommend.
The food was amazing and so was the service. The only small downside was the noise level as it got busy.
Great restaurant and good options if you are on keto diet!
Great food, lovely ambience and quality drinks. One of my favourite restaurants, the short rib is amazing
We experienced excellent service on this occasion and this made our visit memorable. The food was delicious and the cocktails were also surpringly good. I will definitely go back.
Very enjoyable lunch. Quick service & really tasty food. Thank you
Disappointing, food very average, overpriced and unfortunately didn't enjoy our visit.
We had a birthday weekend in London and on our last night decided to stay local to our hotel. The atmosphere was lovely, and we had a great young waiter serving us who was helpful with the menu and cocktail recommendations! Food was wonderful (had the meat platter to share) and very good value for money.
The menu looked amazing; the smell of smoking meat as I walked in was mouth watering; the staff were friendly, and the cocktails an art form. Despite having an ambience reminiscent of the home furnishings section of a very upmarket department store, I had high hopes. The food was... fine. The short rib was dry and a bit under seasoned, but otherwise there was nothing wrong with any of it. It was just a bit disappointing. The stand-out dish was the green bean and broccoli side (which I highly recommend). The lamb belly was better than the beef rib. The smoked cauliflower cheese was on a par with the decent versions that have sprung up recently in many steak/bbq style restaurants.
If you are a fan of the fairly stark, ultra-modern restaurant styling, you would enjoy the atmosphere and the food is good enough. I find it feels slightly sterile, and so would have to be wowed by the food to balance that. And I wasn't.
Handy & upbeat pre-post theater spot to rally with friends over tasty local smoked meat &/or vegan dishes, beers, & vintages! Pleasant & hospitable wait staff too!
Fast service, good food and friendly staff. Recommend the meat feast and cheese board.
Stoke House lager was very easy to drink and the cocktails were good. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Was really looking forward to the evening, ambience is good but the food was terrible (2 of us shared the meat platter).
Unfortunately, will not be returning.
Really enjoyed the experience. We took advantage of their pre/post theatre menu which was really good value.
I went to the Stoke House for the first time, i had booked online and asked for a good table, when we got there, they gave me the best Table! the food was great and service very good. I will be going again.
The place is all about meat, and that element of the meal was excellent. Salmon dish also highly rated. Sides all tasty, and wine delicious and good value. Down side: the pork scratchings starter and coleslaw side we ordered never materialised. But that didn't spoil a very enjoyable experience.
Really enjoyed the ambiance and service. A nice find in busy Victoria!
Thought it was very expensive for quality of food. Not good that no extras such as potatoes salad or vegetables included in price. £9 for 2 portions of potatoes is ridiculous even for London prices!!!!
Chicken wasn't hot enough.
The food was great but the service was a little slow and my side came out much later than my main which was irritating. Nice that you can order wine in a carafe if you can't quite manage a whole bottle before the theatre!
Third time I've been to The Stoke House and this time for a business lunch. Staff are always friendly and helpful, the food was fab and overall a lovely lunch. The only criticism I have is of the wine glasses. I don't like wine glasses without a stem - just a personal preference!
Disappointing table service with limited menu and incorrect order, although only three mains chosen. Stayed for a drink at the bar where service did improve.
The location is great - right by Victoria Train station so it was convenient for mothers day. Food tasted good (a little over seasoned with pepper) but it came out so fast it didnt feel special. It was also luke warm, and even after asking for them to be reheated, it came back only slightly warmer. Sunday menu was restricted to sunday roasts only which was disappointing to not even be able to enjoy a starter. Pisco drinks were 2-for-1 during happy hour and tasted very good. Service was fine, although a little slow at times (getting bill). We wouldn't return as considering it was a special occasion, we didn't feel like treatment had been very special.
Ran out of pie’s from the menu at 7.30 pm on a Friday night ? The menu was very limited as it was.
Needed a quick bit after watching Hamilton at Victoria Theatre before catching a train. Service was quick and food was good
Fun place, food was very tasty and good vegetarian selection. Would go again.
"Nice" restaurant but lacks atmosphere at lunchtime. Its very large and was not very busy. Maybe evenings are different. Menu is short and food was ok, but not great. Prawn Cocktail was tasteless and the beef rib uninspiring. Small portions too.
Great food - giant meatball, and smoked chicken both much appreciated - served by friendly efficient staff in a good space with nice decor. Really enjoyed our pre-theatre visit, and delighted to have been allowed to stretch out our meal to make it a pleasantly relaxed visit.
One of the new restaurants that have opened in Victoria.
We were seated quickly and attended to relatively quickly - it was Friday night but quite quiet due to the cold snowy weather.
Ordered the meat feast and two sides - delivered very quickly and of good quality.
Would come back again
The staff were confused about my booking they asked me twice at two different times to confirm. They serve white wine in glass tumblers rather than stemmed glasses, this is odd as the wine list is extremely expensive and yet they don't know how to serve white wine to avoid it getting warm. I did ask for a stemmed glass and they let me know they don't have any, they offered a cocktail glass. I waited 35 minutes for my friend who was running late and they didn't offer me any drinks service in that time. I ordered lamb belly they brought me beef, my friend ordered chicken and got 2 small pieces of chicken, a leg with no thigh (just the drumstick) and another small piece for minimum of £15.00. A pub lunch provides a half chicken. A walk-in customer with a 32 kilo luggage was told not to leave it in the vacant area by the door but to put it up against my table where I was sitting. I would have had to climb across someone or ask her to wheel it through tables to go to the bathroom. The restaurant is located near Victoria station and coach station so there is a lot of luggage in the restaurant. It has a price range of being medium end but a clientelle of walk-ins. The restaurant is expensive for the location. 175 ml of wine is about £8.00. A drumstick and small thigh is £15.00. In the pictures you can see the volume of lamb I received and you can compare that to the small amount of chicken. The club music is a little loud and use of the tables only at the front windows to encourage trade is a little cramped. Food was cooked well, bathrooms are neat and clean, staff are friendly. Great potential but more work to be done here. Lower the wine prices for a start.
Young blonde waiter was excellent, really friendly. Super fast service, he knew when ro return to the table, a real talent for this industry. Nice food, lively if not a wee bit noisy. Recommended
The restaurant itself and the ambiance were very good. Service was slow, borderline on being embarrassing for a business meal, though if you are not in a rush it is ok.. Cocktails were excellent. Meat was delicious but sides were average. Portion sizes were about right. I would go again though probably just for business as it was a tad on the expense side (~£190 for two cocktails each, meat platter for 3, 4 sides, nibbles at the start and 3 desserts).
I booked a table with a friend. Although it was a nice atmosphere they didn’t have much choice on the menu. It was either the pre theatre set menu ( only giving a couple of options per serving) or the light snacks menu. The wine list was also pretty expensive ranging from £26-36 for a bottle of wine. It was for this reason we had one small glass of wine each with some olives and a bottle of water between us which cost approx £19 , that we left to eat else where.
It's a nice restaurant, they were very quick to serve the food which is pre-cooked. We were shocked with the cost relative to the size of the side portions. The 1ltr wine wasn't value for money going by the taste of it. It was like a glamorous Nandos. The meal cost was £165 for 3 adults not having starters or dessert. Just main, sides and drinks...
Had great night with friends. The food was absolutely delicious, the service top notch and the staff were very welcoming and friendly
Amazing cocktails, and the food selection was good. The kitchen was very good at checking on making sure they could accommodate my friends food intolerances.
Meat was a touch too salty for my taste though still very good but my two dining companions adored the extra salt.
A really great experience. Would definitely go again.
Friendly staff. Good service. Food good
I was looking forward to this dinner but the food was very disappointing. The service is amazingly quick and very friendly. The waitresses know the menu and were super helpful but the food lacked seasoning and was lukewarm. It was very expensive for what was a below average meal. Has the potential to be amazing.
Ate on a Monday Lunchtime, had the impression that much of the food was very prepared elsewhere and warmed on site. We had the meat platter, Chicken Lamb and beef. the Lamb was a fatty cut so not for all. Service was quick and cheerful
My partner and I went to The Stokehouse for Sunday lunch as we were heading off to a show in the afternoon. We told the waiter our plans and we didn't have to sit for ages waiting to be served but still had a lovely leisurely lunch. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for - relaxed. Would definitely recommend!
