Our outdoor terrace is now open throughout Summer.
They served good food and very fresh; service a little slow .
We had the Sunday roast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Try the roasted lamb belly - it is excellent
We all had sandwiches (rump / lamb). Both were both really tasty and good value. The lamb was very fatty though, with quite a few inedible chewy bits. Roasted new potatoes were mediocre and when we asked if they were cooked using butter (my husband is dairy intolerant), no alternative or amended option was offered. The dessert sundae was nice (delicious cornflame ice cream!) but overpriced.
We had a pre-theatre meal here and were suitably impressed with the service, quality and delivery of the food. The staff were on point and friendly yet professional. I would have liked to have given an extra half a star if I could. Aside from the loud, obnoxious man at the bar who kept saying "welcome to Wal-Mart, wtf do you want ", it was a good dining experience and we will go back to sample other dishes.
It was a Sunday. They had no steak, beef or pork. Essentially nothing but the chicken roast.
we had the chicken from the lunch menu and separately from the smoked menu. both were luke warm and didn't really taste of anything. filled a hole but devoid of flavour and felt like poor value.
maybe the red meats are better but for chicken you might as well go to Nandos
Good food and great service. Really liked the Stoke House signature sauce with my steak. Drinks weren’t great e.g the virgin colada had chunks of ice in it because they don’t have a blender so can’t make crushed ice.
Do simple solution, get a blender.
Unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience. The chicken was served pink, when we sent it back it was just re-heated and the same piece of chicken was served again. It was a very disappointing meal. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and I won’t return.
Ordered their meat feast for two. Meat are fresh and well cooked however nothing too special about it. It's a bit noisy not the best place for a date. They do have their special menu which I believe will be better than the usual menu. Should have ordered it
At first service was a little slow, we sat outside for cocktails before our meal. Cocktails were nice. We had to ask for blankets after discovering our heater was the only one not working. Once we sat inside for our meal, our waiter was very knowledgable and helpful. Food was delicious.
We stopped here pre-Hamilton - right around the corner at Victoria Place Theater, which is right around the corner. Food was terrific - both my wife and I had rib-eyes, which were perfect. I had mine medium at the suggestion of our waitress, Victoria, who was extremely helpful and friendly. This is a superb spot if you want an enjoyable meal just before the theater. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
The menu lacked imagination and depending on dietary choices or personal preferences very limited. Not confident that I could recommend on this basis. What we chose and ate was very tasty. Service was impersonal and we did not feel welcome. The manager was attentive may be aware there were problems on shop floor.
The acoustics are not great - it was quite noisy. The food was not that good. The Cote de beuf, potatoes and sweet potato dishes sides just weren’t that appetising. I’d have expected the Cote de beuf to look really enticing, but it looked bland and tasted bland.
It was a very good place to eat pre theatre - Tom our waiter was very attentive.
Unfortunately, the air conditioning was not working on a very humid evening.
Definitely, would come back again.
Great food. Great restaurant. Great area. Great value pre theatre menu. Only downside the music made conversation a bit difficult.
Lively, friendly atmosphere- a nice menu. We attended for a pre theatre supper. Food was served fresh and fast and the smoky tones were very flavoursome. Staff were attentive. Good vibe all round !
Nice Devore but food was cold and rushed. Came very quickly which suggests it’s not prepared fresh. Dessert was also average.
The roasted lamb was so flavored from the smoking that I couldn’t tell if it was lamb or pork.
We arrived at 5.30 and it felt like there were lots of staff around to top up the water on the table. Unfortunately, as the evening got busier, it then felt like there were not enough available even thought there were lots visible. Orders were taken but not written down which meant that some thinks arrived incorrect. They did do a very good job of explaining what was in each course and trying to sell the specials. Overall the food was good although the chocolate mousse had not set and was replaced with a more delicious dessert. To sum up, a mixed bag so don't think we'd come back in the near future. It was a good atmosphere though and I would recommend for a couple of after work drinks
Excellent food and service at a reasonable price. We chose from the pre-theatre menu which was good value and was served promptly and efficiently. I only gave 4 stars for ambiance as we ate early (5.30pm) and the restaurant was not full. I would expect this to improve as the restaurant filled up. A lovely meal - thank you.
Food a bit cold. Lamb belly was a bit dry and overcooked
Lovely meal! The lamb was cooked to perfection. Staff very attentive.
Truly disappointing. Hopelessly restricted menu, average food, high cost. To be honest, I would rather lick Donald Trump than go back there. To be avoided.
I have been three times now and I just love the Stoke Housr the food is amazing it is just a bit too loud being open plan it is difficult to chat
Came here before going to see Heathers for a pre theatre meal. Food was delicious and the cocktails were great!
An interesting place, right in the centre of London, with a wall made of Tin Cans: Very Quirky.
We shared a Meat Platter of Beef, Lamb & Chicken, which was delightful.
Great food and service. Loved the atmosphere and decor. Staff very attentive. Would definitely go back.
We were promptly served despite the fact we were a half hour early for our reservation. Turns out there aren’t that many reservations on a Tuesday afternoon at 4:00, very few people there, which was fine with us. It was very close to our theatre, making it a relaxed easy stroll after our pre-theatre dinner, even time for a second glass of wine! We went with the Express dinners at GBP 12.00, seemed a good deal. Veggies were good, our chicken pie was also tasty!
Great Sunday lunch. Friendly staff
Small menu, but very tasty smoked food and lovely salads.
The Stoke House is so much fun! Great cocktails, service and even better food!
Absolutely horrid. An attractive modern restaurant in a good location, with Spanish-style options for smaller quantities. BUT, food prepared and presented with the finesse of a pyschopath in an abattoir. Sides essential - but all are extra. Oblong tables not sociable for groups. Average wine very pricey. Service charge obligatory. Do yourself a favour and give it a miss.
Only difficulty was that we specifically asked if the roast salmon was smoked and were told it was - it wasn't which caused some disappointment. Otherwise food was lovely and cocktails fab.
First time here. Good space and great service, but... the food arrived tepid and very quickly, suggesting it wasn’t to order (was it intentional?), but it was tasty. It was overpriced for the portion size too (£70) per head for 2 courses and wine. I’d give it another go but be a bit more discerning with my menu choices
Worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had . Raw vegetables , cold Yorkshire puddings and gravy that was stock swimming around the plate . £110 for 4 . Complete tourist trap and no effort made at all ... clueless ! 1 waitress, possibly American showed some sign of professionalism otherwise run by students!
We went for a pre-theatre dinner and found the menu short but interesting. The quality of the food was good and the service efficient. The pricing was what you might expect from a London based restaurant chain. I wouldn't say it was fine dining but good straightforward food.
I would go back again if the same circumstances were prevalent.
We were from out of town and not disappointed.
Love this place for a fun and relaxed night. Hearty food - the meat platter to share was delicious and there was plenty of it. We arrived in time for happy hour. 2 for 1 cocktails that were so tasty. Our waiter was great. Friendly and attentive service. We will be back.
A pleasant surprise with very tasty items. Will return.
What a gem of a find!! 10 out of 10 in everything ,will be back :-)
Slightly disappointing experience - food felt tired and the place lacked atmosphere.
