Superb short rib and delicious sauces. The roasted cabbage was a surprise. Very tasty. Rump was over cooked and only a limited selection of red Ms was disappointing. Service was very good and the smell over the smoke great.
Food was lovely, really nice variety of meat. The sauce options to go with the meat didn’t really work but the food was lovely.
We really liked it, it was our first time at the restaurant, so didn’t know what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised, especially with the smoked mix meat platter that was delicious!!! We will definitely be back :)
Great food lots of it and good value for money very friendly staff
A bit loud for dinner, not great atmosphere but food is good. Try going for lunch and avoid the evening is my tip.
In the eye of the beholder. My guest liked the food but I didn't. I thought the starters were overpriced, small and basic. I really didn't like the lamb belly from the smoker. Service was good and pretty much spot on. Small wine list but adequate and well-priced. Usual bland, anodyne, furnishings.
After a little haphazard start, the waiting staff were attentive, however, think our order got lost which wouldn’t be too bad as chatting etc but off to the theatre and we had specifically mentioned, chosen from pre-theatre menu and had to remind them a couple of times. The food was fab when it came and worries disappeared. Off to the theatre around the corner and honour restored!
Poor service from distracted waiter. We were asked if we wanted still, tap or sparkling water. We ordered still water, got Tap water and asked the water, he walked over refilled the bottle and proceeded to pour more of what tasted like tap water over the existing water in the glass! At that point, we just gave up since we needed to make our Theatre time and it was difficult to get the attention of our waiter. I Ordered one of the Pre Theatre specials Chicken, pancetta pie which was highly disappointing as it was a hollow, over cooked slab of pastry stretched over about 1/2 cup of macerated dry as a bone smoked chicken in a rectangular ramekin. A horrid surprise was a bone I discovered as I was attempting to chew the leathery meat. Attempts at flagging down our waiter were futile so we just tried to forget about it. My husband enjoyed his salmon over greens. We were still hungry after dinner so we ordered 2 desserts. The Chocolate Mousse with honeycomb topping was delightful, the bland, unsweetened apple crumble served with equally bland cream was not. This is a hip looking place with poor service and food. To be fair, the lovely fashion model-tall waitress who brought our dessert over was very nice and the atmosphere is hip and very attractive with a fun drink selection on the bar menu.
It’s not often you come across with a restaurant offering something genuinely different, but the Stoke House does. The menu is based around its mouthwatering slow-cooked meats, which are smoked on the premises. We went for the sharing platter and it was amazingly good. The best meal I’ve had in ages.
The staff are friendly and charming and there’s a pleasant, lively atmosphere (we went in early December and it was very busy but not uncomfortably so).
I think I spotted some vegetarian options, but it has to be said that the real highlight of this place is its meat, so carnivores will be happier here.
Great value for money. Nice atmosphere.
Ideal for wining and dining my mother before Wicked.
Excellent dinner with some clients who are as much friends as business connections
Very tasty meats and sides washed down with a few decent reds.
Service was very good and relaxed atmosphere
Small portions. Food was overcooked and leathery
Accidentally ended up here and so glad we did. The food was extremely tasty, good quality ingredients and a great price. Had a group booking and it was a well suited venue. The art from beer cans is very cool too.
We were a party of 4 adults at the Victoria branchI found the staff to be lovely. Our waitress was so patient as one of us changed her selection of food a couple of times. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes & gave some great recommendations. An extra dish came that we had exchanged for another dish earlier & that was taken away & taken off the bill with no fuss whatsoever. No one rushed us out the door so we could linger. Food was fabulous. I’ve eaten here quite a few times before & pretty much always had the same experience. A great buzzy atmosphere & welcomed addition to the neighbourhood.
It was just meant to be a quick supper before the theatre. A limited menu but we were happy with the options. Served quickly and efficiently by a willing young waiter who was very helpful. A little disappointed that just two options for dessert are offered - chocolate mousse with honeycomb (very good) but the alternative was apple crumble with cream or ice cream - sounds good but no fresh cream or vanilla ice cream available. I can't actually remember what the options were but there were certainly not well suited to be served with apple crumble. We enjoyed the mousse but to be honest if you only offer two options in the first place they should BOTH be available.
Ordered teas and coffees - never seen HOT milk served with early grey before - most people like me have no milk but hot seems rather unlikely to me
Delicious food! We'll be back!
Great roast dinner and mulled wine. Did not enjoy the apple crumble - would have liked an option for custard with it - would made the pudding a nice winter warmer.
Loved it and will be back!
One of the best ribeye steak we ever had.
Very tasty sunday roast with a premium cut of meat, a mixture of root veg, greens and a large Yorkshire pud. Worth a visit if in Victoria on a Sunday.
I had asked for a quiet table and they gave us the best one in the house, a lovely booth which was surprisingly comfortable - moulded wood and no cushions. Maybe you wouldn't want to spend an entire evening on it but it was very cosy with a lot of room. We were disappointed that the menu we were given was not the same as the one on the website - I was looking forward to the marrow - and the waiter failed to give us a pre-theatre menu despite there being an offer board for it outside. In general, service was not fantastic, though the waiter was unfailingly polite. But we sat for a very long time in front of our finished main course plates, and it was generally hard to get his attention, and he got our coffee order wrong.
Having said that, the food itself was absolutely excellent, and the roast beef was a huge portion. I asked for well-done and it was cooked perfectly as I'd requested, and still delicious and tender. Good wine choices and a lovely waitress bringing our bill. I think the restaurant needs a greeter at the door, or wait staff better trained to see when a new customer walks in and go over to seat them. Better waitstaff training all round would improve this place.
The decor and the loos are absolutely lovely.
Thanks , Great venue for a family lunch - good pre visit communication & administration, good food, good service , good price, quiet but not empty will go again.
Just great food & very good service. Vibrant atmosphere & everyone seemed to enjoy the experience
The meal was absolutely wonderful. I had the roast beef and it was without a doubt the best I ever tasted. That was because it was smoked! The personnel and waitstaff were very polite, professional and very accommodating. I will be returning with friends on my next trip to London in a few weeks!
One of a number of restaurants in this newly developed area opposite Victoria Station, we went for the pre-theatre 2 course deal before a theatre visit. We only had 45 minutes but they got us our two courses served very promptly. The food was very tasty and good portion, and great value - much better overall than the obvious alternative of a quick burger.
Booked an early dinner for my birthday ahead of seeing Hamilton at the theatre. It was a great start to my evening. The meal was lovely - the food was tasty & fresh and the staff were very helpful. All my family enjoyed it & we would definitely go back again!
Stoke House is really for meat eaters. Its got a wide range of steaks and meat dishes which everyone enjoyed. Definitely not a choice for vegetarians or fish eaters.
Great lunch. Food a little on the cool side of warm but delicious. Attentive and quick service in pleasant surroundings.
This was my 2nd visit to Stoke house, I went back as my first experience was excellent this visit I would rate as mediocre. It wasn’t busy as it was Thursday and our meals were cold when served had to send them back, saying that the staff were attentive. Lovely restaurant, the bathrooms are beautiful! Portion size choices are good for the price I couldn’t eat all and took a doggy bag home! Im not sure if I’d go again though.
It was ok, an expensive Nando’s. Side salads weren’t great.
Excellent service and food ''',,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Great venue, food and wine.
We had a wonderful dinner for four at Stoke House. The fish and the brisket were amazing. We’d go back for sure next time we are nearby. It was the perfect meal before a show.
Picked restaurant due to location near theatre. The menu choice is limited but interesting - quality ingredients, so check it out before you go. Service was a bit slow even although restaurant was not especially busy. Excellent selection of cocktails, but beer on menu was out of stock.
Service and food was brilliant. Would recommend and return!
We booked the Stoke House for their pre theatre menu, which both myself and my parents thought it looked fantastic. We were not disappointed, everything from the service (they seated us half an hour early) to the meal, the great beer selection and just outstanding food. Would highly recommend.
Young crowd.. Good service... We were too early for the grill but enjoyed what we ate... Nice bar and a good vibe.
The Stoke House was the perfect place for our very good value pre-theatre supper which was served with great efficiency and a warm smile.
Good food - we had the Sunday Roast which was good value. Ask for a table away from the entry doors as they don't close properly so it gets mighty chilly in the winter when there is a constant draft between customers entering/leaving.
