The Surrey Oaks
Food amazing, good service. The decor, tables, carpet let the place down, could do with a refurb. Not cheap but worth it as food was amazing!
Good variety of food on the menu - decent portion sizes and tasty
Excellent food and impeccable service. A great selection of beer and wine with some fantastic specials on the menu. For the amount consumed the price was more than fair. Will gladly go again and again.
Lovely place, great food and staff was nice and friendly. Cant wait to go in the day with the kids
Great food, varied menu, friendly service and great village pub ambiance. We had a table near the bar and went to celebrate my mum’s birthday. Everyone really enjoyed the meal. Kids were able to run off steam on the new play equipment in between courses! Definitely recommend.
Great location, beer garden and play area for kids, and great choice of menu!
Always a pleasure to visit this lovely pub where it’s back to basics regarding the ambiance and great choice of beer. The menu is fine and the food great, served with friendly staff. Don’t be tempted to modernise this lovely pub - it’s fine as it is.
This place used to be so good, it’s gone massively downhill sadly, very scruffy inside, the clientele were also not the most desirable, it was very very noisy and very different to the hidden foodie gem we used to know, we left before eating and won’t be returning, a real shame.
Had a lovely family lunch (7 of us with a baby and 2 dogs!). The food was excellent, with a broad selection choice (we had a vegetarian with us). The service was relaxed and we didn’t feel under pressure to leave. The staff were efficient and very pleasant which made our visit all the more enjoyable. Recommended and we will certainly be returning very soon.
Good relaxed atmosphere outside under the trellis roof.
Drinks were reasonably priced but food expensive for what it was. Sausage and mash was literally that (no vegetables) and the jalfrazi was basically tomato (pasta sauce) with no spices at all, very bland. Had to ask for the salad and poppadum that it was supposed to come with. Would go back for drinks as pup has a lovely large garden but was very disappointed with the food quality and price!
Lovely surroundings and great food....plenty of choice, even for vegetarians! Staff were pleasant and friendly but service was a little slow and a bit inconsistent.
But if a rowdy crowd do very noisy and food not great. But disappointed as reputation so good
Often driven past this on way to work and thought about an evening there as this beautiful country pub looked always full and vibrant, wow, will make this a regular. Plenty of diverse dining or drinking areas both in and out, vast choice of fabulous beers and ciders, seriously great food and service to match!
Very pleasant pub. There's a reason it was UK pub of the year!
Country pub that was in a bad state of repair inside but had nice outdoor area including new kids play area and some farmyard birds in one corner to enjoy. Toilets were very down at heel and the bad smell in the ladies probably largely came from the huge amount of black mould around the bottom of the walls - would suggest the owners do some work to damp-proof the walls and redecorate these. The food wasn't great quality. We all had roast beef because we were eating a very late lunch and it was the only roast left. The roast potatoes were nice but the beef was overcooked - possibly where it had been reheated for us so perhaps not usually like that. The gravy really lacked flavour though and was definitely largely made out of gravy granules as some of these weren't dissolved properly. The baby sweetcorn had seen better days and probably shouldn't have made it out of the kitchen door but the rest of the veg was ok. Yorkshire pud was huge and yummy however. Overall the portions of meat and potatoes were on the small side and I definitely don't think each plate was worth the £16.95 charged. Service by the young staff was very friendly and helpful on the whole and I think we'd be back for drinks, but perhaps not to eat again.
Great range of beer and ale and lager on tap, good range of food so perfect for mixed or fussy crowd - staff very welcoming
Fantastic food and great service, will definetly be returning.
A lovely first experience of the Surrey Oaks. When we arrived the owner was passing and took the time to wish us a good afternoon. We went on one of the beer festivals weekends and despite the team being at the end of a busy bank holiday weekend they were so friendly cheerful and happy. Excellent selection of real ales on the bar and kept extremely well. Good choice of bar style menu, quite hard to choose. We all enjoyed our meals very much. A very positive experience all round.
The range of real ales is amazing. Could not fault the service. However the quality of food was poor and we sent back the desserts as they were tasteless The new owners have made many good changes but the food menu and quality of food has taken a backward step
Extremely good service, fitting us in even though they were fully booked. Very friendly, good food, great service.
Food and service was very good. Two pints
1. They could not find the booking.
2. Burger was cooked on the rare side so had to be redone which meant one both of us eat alone, one waited for over 20 minutes while they re cooked it.
Otherwise a good, friendly place to eat.
