The Swan at Southrop
Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle and the house wine on tap. Our seasonal table menu ensures a country pub feel which has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes as well as your pub classic dishes.
The Swan at Southrop is complete with traditional bar, low-ceilinged restaurant and further tables in a spacious garden room which opens to 2 courtyards. Sofas, open fires and a snug for more intimate dining create a charmingly rustic setting.
In idyllic Gloucestershire, The Swan is a quintessential English village pub on the Southrop Manor Estate.
We had an early booking so the restaurant was quiet. We were very impressed that extra precautions had been taken to ensure adequate spacing between tables in an attempt to minimise spreading unnecessary germs. As always, the staff and the quality of the food was up to it’s usual standard. I particularly enjoyed my pork loin and blue cheese main. We look forward to our next visit.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. We had a small baby with us and the staff couldn’t do enough to help.
Excellent food and service as ever and dog friendly too.
Went for Sunday lunch and weren't disappointed with the delicious roast beef and all the trimmings. The menu is a bit misleading as we thought we had to pay extra for the veg but they were in fact included. Lovely atmosphere and dogs are welcome so great for including a local walk. Only downside was waiting for drinks which got forgotten but the staff were pretty busy. Would definitely go again.
The table was so small we had to ask to move, we couldn’t fit three people comfortably. The table we had then was okay but I had to swap my chair as it had painful springs in the seat.
The food was okayish. Scotch egg was good, the risotto was good but the Hake which was supposed to come with Cavalo Nero came with kale despise a side dish of buttered greens (cavalo nero) having already arrived as a side dish with the risotto. The lambs liver was apparently very over cooked.
We have had great meals at the Swan in the past so hopefully this was just a bad night and won’t happen again.
I booked the swan for dinner with a friend and was pleasantly greeted by warm and friendly staff. I requested a table by the window and we were seated as requested so really pleased that this was arranged.
We ordered bread for starters which was lovely, however the portion was quite small for the price.
We shared a pie for 2 which was lovely and shared a sticky toffee pudding which was lovely.
Good pub food, and service in really cosy surroundings.
Food very disappointing and over priced, far better places to visit nearby.
I think we were just unlucky! The service was very slow and our dessert order not actually given to the kitchen so two courses took over two hours. Spent the last 20 mins sitting with no drinks wondering where it was all going wrong! Food was good - not amazing.
Really excellent meal which I thoroughly enjoyed with my parents. Would have no hesitation in recommending.
A lovely pub within a beautiful village, thoroughly enjoyed our evening and for my birthday and our anniversary so many lovely touches and great customer service.. Would love to return.
I am always impressed when I visit The Swan and our friends who have never been before were very impressed.
Fabulous setting and food, excellent service, would recommend
Food and service are very good and the Swan is worth a visit. Our visit was only spoilt by having a couple with two children sitting next to us that weren't under control, were noisy and parents not particularly bothered either. Thankfully they left half way through. This seems a family orientated pub so bear in mind if looking for a civilised quieter lunch.
A great location and stunning pub for a lunch with friends. The food was exceptional! We will definitely be back!
Wonderful food and friendly, attentive service, as usual.
Excellent all round! Friendly pub with great food and great atmosphere; kids loved it too
Great food and outstanding service. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
We really enjoy visiting The Swan, the menu is always diverse and interesting, lots of delicious things to tempt you but do ask the host what the dishes are as sometimes the explanation does not do them justice, for example the Ploughmans is not just a Ploughmans!
Excellent food, good local products and good value for money.
Ie eaten here many times and it never fails to disappoint. Great food, lovely atmosphere and attentive staff.
Would definitely recommend.
Lovely venue and wonderful food.
We'll priced and friendly service.
Would highly recommend the Swan
Great old pub building, renovated into a beautiful dining space. Friendly staff, family friendly and great food.
Nice to have it on the list to revisit.
Limited menu on this occasion as just open for brunch but great service and environment as ever.
A real pleasure.
Perfect. Lovely place and delicious food. I recommended that perfect pub.
The Swan has a nice atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff. We shared the chicken and bacon pie which was lovely. Highly recommended.
Great meal and service was excellent. Barman Conor was especially pleasant.
A pleasant evening spent at the swan for dinner, service was excellent staff were attentive but they really had no excuse as there were very few people eating.
Menu was lacking £35 to share a pie?? And £35 for a steak ? Very expensive
Great service, delicious food and amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Great food - great service - lovely dining area and delightful pub - will definitely revisit
Excellent meal and good service. Chateaubriand for 2 was sublime!
Good atmosphere which is why we have returned several times with an imaginative menu and good food and service
This being a local pub to us we eat here on many occasions and never disappoints. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend.
Coming from Scotland this was what we 'Northerners' saw as the quintessential Cotswold pub. Great atmosphere, excellent food and nice people. The men had the roast beef and the ladies the ploughmans. Would come back. Deffo
Poor slow service, no atmosphere or ambiance in the new dining area, too sterile, whilst 2 of us were eating starters ( 2 did not order starters ) their mains came sane time. Sadly two guests could not join us ( our fault) but no suggestion or offer to move us to a smaller more suitable table where we could actually speak to each other instead of a huge, round, impractical table. A very disappointing evening at what used to be a very special place for us .
Outstanding quality food, with great flavours. The service was superb, charming and knowledgeable staff
We were made very welcome. Unfortunately after we had ordered there was a problem with their gas, so our meal became rather protracted....however we were kept up to date with the progress in the kitchen, and were quite happy to enjoy our drinks and the lovely log fire.
When the food arrived it was delicious, with wonderful use of seasonal produce. Staff were very attentive, and to our surprise 25% was taken off our bill for the delay, which we hadn’t minded at all.
A lovely setting, good service with excellent food, the roast beef was delicious together with the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud and a great selection of vegetables, one of the best in the area. Thank you!
Delicious lunch sitting cosily by one of two open fires. The hake was perfectly cooked and the whole dish divine!
One of the best Sunday Roast's I have had! The pork was melt in your mouth....the roasties were super crunchy even though they were swimming in fabulous gravy! Starter of a scotch egg was perfect! Service was a bit fast although polite. Will return!!
