The Swan at Southrop
Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle and the house wine on tap. Our seasonal table menu ensures a country pub feel which has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes as well as your pub classic dishes.
The Swan at Southrop is complete with traditional bar, low-ceilinged restaurant and further tables in a spacious garden room which opens to 2 courtyards. Sofas, open fires and a snug for more intimate dining create a charmingly rustic setting.
In idyllic Gloucestershire, The Swan is a quintessential English village pub on the Southrop Manor Estate.
Good food and very enjoyable evening
Had the most fabulous birthday dinner. Had drinks in Thyme then walked down to Swan. Food couldn’t be better. My husband (whose birthday it was) said it was the best bernaise sauce he had ever had!
The food was exceptional and great service too.
We will definitely return very soon.
Thanks for a great evening
Excellent food with a diverse menu. Charming and not too crowded.
Fantastic food and excellent service. Restaurant was very quiet but it was a Monday afternoon. We will return.
Really enjoyed our meal, lovely ambience, friendly staff. We went for a birthday celebration, this is my second visit and I introduced the pub to some friends. we all had a great evening thank you
The Swan is a lovely country pub with excellent food and gracious hosts. We had tricky dietary issues and they handled them really well. I can recommend this place for gluten free options. The menu was varied and we could happily have chosen almost everything on the menu. Highly recommended.
The fresh ingredients freshly cooked were to dye for.
The waiting was pretty long but when the food came it was a bless.
our mains were stuffed pepper and char grilled minute. Delicious!
All excellent but service was a bit slow. Fortunately we were not in a hurry.
Lovely meal and friendly service. Would recommend.
We arrived on time and were shown to our table but then had to wait 10 mins before we were able to order water and bread. We then waited another 10mins before we got the water and the waitress told us at that point that they were very busy and there would be a wait for our food so we placed our food orders then. One table of 2 came in after us and actually had their main course and dessert before our starters arrived an hour after we sat down. The food was also mediocre.
Bearing in mind the reviews showed this to have a red M we were surprised that they were not able to cope with a 3/4 full restaurant and that the standard of the food was below par.
Excellent menu choice and staff were knowledgable about the food and wine.
Great Cotswold pub. Will definitely be back.
Fab food and atmosphere ss always
And very friendly staff
It was ok - the chicken pie had filo pastry - it is very dark
Chicken pie was pastry and air, distinct lack of chicken. At what point does a pub (for yes it is a pub) introduce a service charge, what’s the rationale, what makes it different from every other pub, if it’s a restaurant then just call it that, London bad habits in the Cotswolds - not justified.
A chicken pie becomes £20 with th service charge - stop kidding yourselves.
We waited for 1 hour for the starter to arrive. The starter was good however the moment we finished eating the starter the plates were whipped away and the main course placed on the table. We had the chicken and bacon pie to share. The accompanying vegetables cold and undercooked. All in all a very disappointing evening and we will not be returning.
Waiting staff were courteous and pleasant clearly not there problem. The manager did reduce our bill but this did not compensate us for a spoilt evening.
Lovely little pub with excellent food . Lovely service too!
Ive eaten here many times with friends and family and we always enjoy excellent food and great service.
I would definitely recommend.
Food was very good. Service very slow and forgot things. No personality from the 3 servers we had. 12.5% service charge in a small village pub is quite frankly appalling
This was our our first visit (but there will be more now following our experience there) and we were delighted by the ambiance and the attentive staff.
The gold stars though must go to the chef and the team in the kitchen as all of the food was simply outstanding and beautifully presented.
Well done to everyone at the Swan and thank you for making it an extremely memorable (birthday) dinner.
Extremely poor service, bread ordered but not received, if you wanted to order you had to chase a member of staff at the bar, even though it’s table service. Staff are very young and it’s clear they do not want to be there.
I had eaten here last year and it was excellent, shame it’s gone so downhill.
Fantastic 3 hour lunch with friends, baby and children well looked after and service was excellent. Food was outstanding as were the cocktails. An absolute delight
I used to come here 25 years ago, and on my return I was delighted to see it has retained all its rustic charm of a traditional country pub, and only being improved by a refurbishment. Fabulous and warm service, a good if modest selection of ales, brilliant food (the mussels were outstanding according even to my Belgian wife) and an enclosed courtyard for outside dining. My next visit will not take so long!
Lovely food that leaves you feeling good. Great ambiance and service.
We booked quite late in the day but nothing was too much trouble. The service was rapid and friendly. They managed to answer all of our questions and were very well informed about our choices. The food was first rate. I had the fillet steak rare and it was beautiful. On a side note they also serve Chase Rosé which is a great summertime wine.
Just a ‘normal’ pub, not sure what all the fuss is about.
