The Swan at Swineford
If you're looking for a country pub in a rural setting - and one that's only ten minutes away from the busy Bath centre - then you really can't do much better than The Swan.
The Swan looks out at willow-edged fields with the River Avon meandering by in the distance. The pub's garden is also understandably popular with both customers and children in equal measure.
The Swan has earned a reputation for serving unpretentious, down-to-earth,satisfying and well-presented food, as well as their extensive range of well-kept beers and cider.
Please note between 3-5pm our food menu is sandwiches, chips, and bar snacks
I would recommend the pub for drinks as it's in a lovely location. The Sunday roast was okay, although the cauliflower cheese had been reheated and was very dry and the three bean roast resembled a burger and lacked flavour, the roast potatoes were lovely though! Nice pub, lovely location just needs a little more attention to detail with the roasts.
I hadn't been here a few times now and it never disappoints! Definitely worth a visit. Re: 4 stars for cake for money. I only have it 4 as I thought the desserts were a little expensive, but overall, the meal was excellent.
Had a fantastic Anniversary meal with family!
Venison was spot on👍
Coming back soon....
Food was wonderful, very tasty and good value. The Steak & Darkside pie was absolutely delicious and the Venison steak superb. Good wine list, good service, nice beers - the only downside for me was the pop music / rock stuff in the background - not quite apposite for such good gourmet food - for my taste.. but it wasn't overly intrusive.. and the food just took over anyway.. ! But try a bit of Bach maybe, or some gentle jazzy stuff.. anything but thumpy schlockpop..
Great menu and enjoyed the steak and also the Swan cheeseburgers! Friendly atmosphere and lovely staff. Would recommend a visit!
The Menu was rather limited and made worse by the Lamb not being available. The Asparagus was good as was the Smoked Haddock. The service was rather "matter of fact" and not very personal. The ambiance was ok, if rather noisy. The drinks choice was very good and the pub in general was a reasonable choice for lunch.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch for Mothers day - our expectations were high, we have been visiting the Swan for a long time and we are always very impressed with both the food and the service. They didn't disappoint, we had wonderful roast dinners and desserts and the staff were very attentive.
Staff excellent very friendly and really helpful. Food was good as normal the only problem being the amount of foods that were not available due to running out. Not a good idea on a busy Saturday night and we were quite an early booking.
Really lovely atmosphere when eating here, felt cosy and homely. Will be back to visit again, thank you
Went for the Sunday roast. Had a vegetarian amongst us who was catered for without any problem. Was offered samples of the cider and stout as they were unknown to our group which was a really nice example of customer service.
Food was delightful. Everything was well presented and really well cooked.
Will definitely recommend to others.
Excellent menu. Food delicious. Very friendly & helpful staff,. Cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Very enjoyable evening.
Excellent lunch for family with great choices. Very friendly staff.
Food was well cooked and didn't have to wait too long..
Had Sunday lunch which was excellent. Would recommend.
Food was ok, steak overcooked and fish cool. Expected to sit in restaurant but put on a table on the end of the bar which was exposed to draught and cold everytime someone came or went. Ciders were so-so. Could do better
I booked for 4 diners and mentioned in the on line booking that one diner required a gluten free menu. I was very impressed that the menu was clearly marked with all the dishes that were GF and furthermore the waitress checked that the person ordering had chosen the GF option. Good food and 4 very satisfied diners.
Very pleasant Sunday afternoon treat. We will go again.
Excellent We were in a party of 4 and all enjoyed very much
Fantastic food as ever.
This visit was unusual as I had a puncture and recovery vehicle arrived half way through my roast, when I came back from the car park after it was sorted The Swan had very kindly put my lunch away to keep warm and brought it out to me on a fresh plate.
Couldn't fault their kindness and service.
Have been many times here over the years and food has always been great, will continue to go.
Good food and service very friendly and welcoming. Noise levels a bit high though. Otherwise well worth a visit
We went for Sunday lunch after a dog walk in the area. Nice food although under seasoned in my opinion. Good selection of beers and other drinks.
We will come back again, the roast was fantastic. Easy parking and a nice ambience inside the pub.
Came here a couple of weeks ago and the menu was really good. Not such a wide choice available on 29th. Food lovely. It'seems a great local country pub. Little understaffed though.
The Swan has become a favourite destination for lunch or dinner with family and friends. Service is always friendly and efficient, and food quality is excellent and reasonably priced.
Food was nice, tasted good and presented well. Did not like being surrounded by dogs when I am eating.
Lovely pub, with helpful staff but Sunday roast was disappointing. Vegetables tastes reheated and colliflower (which was extra) was awful. Disappointed as it was lovely last time.
A lovely Sunday lunch. Easy parking. Lovely friendly greeting straight away. One of our party asked about gluten free recommendations. The young staff were relaxed and each of them highly knowledgeable about their foods and which might have allergy warnings . They didn’t need to check with the chef- they were trained to know straight away. The food was tasty with reasonable portion sizes. This was our first visit and it won’t be our last ! Thank you
The staff were very welcoming and the pub felt cosy and inviting. Food was outstanding and everyone had a good time!
Booked last minute for a family meal after passing a few times on the way to Bath - no one was disappointed! Food was delicious, especially the mushrooms starter. Portion size was good value for money. Service was impeccable and the staff really friendly. Will definitely be returning!
Fantastic friendly service with a good menu choice, something for everyone. Tasty food well cooked and presented. Nice cosy atmosphere
Excellent food and great service. The meals were very different, presented well and tasty. The three of us had the guinea fowl, the duck and the pie - all were excellent. Sticky toffee pud afterwards was very good too. The staff were friendly and efficient.
Definitely worth a visit.
Very enjoyable experience with good food, lovely surroundings with a friendly feel and the staff were very nice and accommodating. The table service was much appreciated - no waiting at the bar to be serviced.
We had a great evening.
Great menu with something safe or something different. My pigeon starter was awesome. Very nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Some unusual bar snacks too - even though I was full I had to take home some salt and vinegar pork scratchings.
We didn't go for the usual Sunday Beef Roast but the Pork Roast instead. It was a very generous portion garnished with West Country potatoes and veg. Nothing beats fresh produce and proper seasoning. It was a very enjoyable meal. Well done Swineford!
Lovely food but small portions and too expensive. The beef was superb but I could have eaten the meal all over again.
Good was really good with a good choice of different foods. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will return 😊
We had a table booked for Midday. We were waiting for the doors to open along with other diners, they opened the doors late with no apology.
They did not listen to requests, we asked for a small lime and soda, a large arrived, when we advised the response was “oh” again no apology.
We asked for extra gravy, they did not bring out the amount requested, after 3 attempts we had enough for the six of us.
The food and service was great, the kids loved the garden. Will definitely be going back.
Great food even though on a limited menu because of the bank holiday. Good selection left with something still there that was a bit different.
Great steak pie with loads of good meat and flavour.
Beetroot Gravlax also really nice.
Four of us went for lunch on a Saturday. We had already booked a table. The service was attentive, the food was good and arrived in an acceptable time. I would happily recommend the Swan.
