Fab interiors and great food. Need more vegetarian options though -- we went for Sunday lunch and there wasn't a veggie roast option at all. But the food we had was quite delicious and the Polish waiter was a darling and very professional!
Having been to the sister pub in Churchill we had high expectations and were not disappointed. An excellent Sunday lunch! We will be back.
Had a fab Sunday lunch, the service was very attentive and helpful and the food was gorgeous, great value main course and nice wine
Interesting menu, high quality food, beautifully prepared . Good service and pleasant cosy ambience.
The service was very slow, they even admitted they were short staffed! The food was ok. We ordered two Irish coffee which they did not now how to make. When we came to pay they had the cheek to charge us £40 for service. Unfortunately I will not recommend or return to this establishment.
Good quality food at a descent price.
Big menu from lots to choose from
Lovely experience all around !
Great food, atmosphere and service. Thoroughly recommend.
Something not quite right ! Restaurant felt cramped with small tables but with a huge bar area that nobody was using . The menu has an awkward layout that doesn’t lend itself to easy reading .
Overall good attentive service but not on my list of must haves !
A quiet (at lunch on a Tuesday) venue with rustic tables and mis-matched chairs. Outstanding and invariably interesting menu, although perhaps difficult to construct several coherent meals involving different dishes. Perhaps we shouldn't be so ambitious! A pricey wine list, but the house rose turned out to be excellent. Service started well, but tailed off at the end (admittedly we were quite late). The broad bean hummus was surprisingly delicious; the chopped hanger steak, however, had far too many capers. The burger seemed unambitious and out-of-place, yet was in fact involving, tasty and surprisingly complex. The BBQ prawns should be issued with free bibs (marketing opportunity?) as, although wonderful, they were extraordinarily messy. Excellent peaches and really unusual (and good) custard tart with raisins. Overall most enjoyable, and well worth the drive!
I have been ill with sickness since midnight on Friday, I had the chicken, not saying that my illness was due to the food but would be interesting to know if anyone else was ill
Friendly staff, great garden , a few more creative dishes or sharing dishes to the normal pub menu . But it is just good pub food , the veggies sides were really tasty Worth a visit for a fun, friendly casual supper with friends and NO washing up.
Anniversary and trying somewhere new in our much loved Cotswolds
Amazing food and quality of the service. The chairs could be more comfortable - maybe add a cushion?
I asked for a Fever Tree tonic which was not available so the barman suggested a refreshing cocktail which was delicious - nice introduction to the Swan.
Lunch was very good
Yes I would recommend it.
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here in mid August.
Everything was excellent and this place has a great feel to it and was lively in a good way.
The only minor downside was quite a long wait for our food but they were busy.
Great vibe when you walk in and friendly waiters. Loved the decor. Food was a bit disappointing however- fish was great but our other meals we had felt a bit meagre. Affogato consisted of only one scoop of ice cream with the coffee shot- rather steep for £7
Such a transformation from when we last visited. The staff were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about the food. The decor was just right with colourful but not over bright wall paper complemented with dark green paintwork and a mix of wooden tables and chairs. Our only slight issue would be the overall price we felt was a little high. Excellent local for food and drink. The menu choices were varied and different with lots of local options.
Really interesting menu with sublime pies.
Interesting menu very unusual dishes expensive compared with similar quality restaurants in the area. Experience only marred by inexperienced front of house staff who had little knowledge of the menu and had all only started in the last couple of weeks. Once a established team has formed this place will go far. Full marks to the chef for his vision .
Went after the Times review and it was every bit as good as Giles C said! Really tasty local produce cooked imaginatively and efficient friendly knowledgable service... I look forward to returning soon.
Excellent ambience, refined pub. Great for a quite drink and nibbles. Food was well conceived and delicious. It has been really nicely modernized - but keeping the traditional style and cotswold stone showing through.
The reason we didn't score this higher related initally to the menu - the main courses on offer were quite limited with no vegetarian offer, other than salads. Service was comparable to other local offers but there wasn't a more seasoned manager visible, and our food went for a wander around the restaurant looking for our table at each course. Selection of wine / drinks was good, but the Aperol Spritz was pushing the limit - I think a glass of wine / pint of beer would have been a better bet.
Welcomed promptly and given a bar table in the corner of the bar area, despite having booked (others were offered tables in the restaurant area or garden - regular customers or locals?). The area was very clean and pleasant though and we weren’t squashed in at all. Given water quickly but then had to wait quite a long time to order, despite not being busy. Starter had one slice of bread, despite being a sharing dish- had to ask for more, which was reluctantly given. One main meal had to be sent back due to poor quality and again there was a reluctance to supply more veg, although they did. The food itself was delicious when they got it right, and there was no rush for us to leave or pay up at all. The staff were lovely but small mistakes let the experience down a bit unfortunately. We would go back to give them another chance though.
Wonderful food, way above the usual ‘pub food’. Lovely staff and good wine for a reasonable price.
Lovely midweek meal.
We loved the atmosphere but found the food expensive and mediocre. Two glasses of wine £23 rather excessive!
I would absolutely recommend The Swan to friends. The food was outstanding and the service top paired with a very cosy atmosphere. Sanny
