Lovely pub, excellent service and food. Good beer on tap.
Lovely place. Great atmosphere. Dog friendly.
Food was excellent. Staff could be a little more attentive especially when we were trying to order more wine and pay at the end.
Probably just need a bit more training.
We will be back 😀
We ate here two nights in a row as we were staying at the hotel.
The staff were really friendly and service was consistently good.
The menu is utterly delicious but very limited for vegans (no starter - just bread and olive oil which was disappointing as we had emailed and called ahead).
Between us we recommend the beef burger, the grain bowl with cabbage (delicious and filling!) and the vegan version of the cauliflower dish.
Also we recommend the chips and curry sauce but sauce could do with being thickened up for more satisfying dipping!!
After dinner it is worth trying to bag yourself the comfy chairs by the fire in the bar and if you fancy, there’s a scrabble board and a couple of other games to keep you occupied!
My husband met with some friends and we booked this pub on the strength of a review a while ago in 'The Week' magazine. We visit regularly different pubs in and around the Cotswolds where we live. My husband was a tad disappointed with the portion control and the pie had no gravy inside. The burger had an unusual cheese melted on top. Overall fine but not as outstanding as others we have reviewed.
Excellent country pub with great food.
A very enjoyable even. Great food and service.
So pleased you enjoyed your visit! We hope to see you again soon. best The Swan
Brilliant local country pub with delicious food. Friendly service and intimate setting.
Thank you Jake for your lovely review, we're so pleased you enjoy our pub! Very best The Swan
Every pub is allowed to have an off day. It happens. The only problem is when their off day is your first day there. I wanted to like the pub but I thought the ambience, service and food were all off. The chicken pie was dreadful. The steak came with watercress that had been cooked to death, and the service -well, Im assuming the A team was off training. Not running back, I'm afraid.
We really liked the decor and the staff were great. But we ordered the chilli, which didn’t have any heat or spice at all. More like a ragu for with pasta.
Good Afternoon, thank you so much for your review, I will definitely let the team know you think they are great! We are always happy to adjust any dish to suit our customers and would have happily added more chilli/spice to your Chilli should you have asked. Hope to welcome you back soon Very best The Swan
Lovely pub, good service and ambience. Limited choice for the coeliac in our group (and didn't offer gluten-free bread) although, as we had warned them in advance, the menu had been annotated to indicate the gluten free dishes which was host. Limited but interesting vegetarian and vegan options.
Good Afternoon Rebecca, we're so pleased you enjoyed the service and ambience. I am sorry your guest felt our gluten free options are limited, we of course cannot guarantee a gluten free environment but about 80% of our menu can be adapted to have no gluten containing ingredients. I am so pleased you felt our vegetarian and vegan options are interesting, we think it is very important to offer more than the 'standard' for people to enjoy. We hope to welcome you back soon. Very best The Swan
The food was very Good and the service too, although they were not busy so you would expect. There was a problem with the central heating so room was cold and we had to keep our coats on. There was a fire place but no fire lit!!! Therefore ambience was poor and once we finished we did not hang around. Shame really
Good Afternoon Andy, thank you so much for taking the time to review us, i'm so pleased you enjoyed the food and service! unfortunately we are slightly quieter than usual during the middle of the week at this time. I can only apologise about our heating, we have since had this looked at. We are very proud of our beautiful open fire and do endeavour to have it lit at all times! We hope to see you again soon, very best The Swan
This was our 2nd visit and we took 2 friends. We had an amazing experience. Our fiends are vegetarian and also eat fish. There was an excellent choice for them and they were delighted. The menu's changing next week, so will have to return shortly to experience!! It's such a joy that the Swan has turned a new leaf under the current management. We are so lucky. My business is patient based so I have been recommending The Swan to all Foodies!
Good Afternoon Jacqueline, we try so hard to deliver a menu that suits everyone, so thank you so much for your thoughtful review, we really appreciate it and can not wait to see you again. very best The Swan
An excellent Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve !) lunch with friends. This was our second visit since it was renovated and again we were very pleased with everything. Well done to the staff!
Good Afternoon George, thank you so much, i will be sure to pass on your positive comments to our team! very best The Swan
Excellent menu, great service, good prices, recommend for a range of dining or gatherings
Very quiet night in terms of tables , only 3 in the restaurant taken , but VERY loud women on the next tables - , all placed together , which spoiled the ambiance and experience .
Food OK but nothing special and service efficient but no feedback from staff on dishes and side dishes which resulted in over-ordering when the main dishes already came with veg or potatoes.
Good Afternoon, thank you for your review, on our quieter nights we do try to assign all tables to one area, in order to maintain a wonderful atmosphere. I am so sorry you felt disturbed by our other guests, we would have of course been more than happy to relocate your table on request. i'd really like to discuss this further with you, if you could please get in touch via email, that would be greatly appreciated. very best The Swan
Relaxation in unbelievably stylish surroundings. Staff very friendly, room amazing, huge comfy bed, food delicious and reasonably priced.
Totally recommended The Swan
Good Afternoon Juliette, what a lovey review! I will be sure to share with our team. Looking forward to welcoming you back. Very best The Swan
The truffled cauliflower lack truffle flavour, but the rest of meal was delicious.
Good Afternoon Graham Thank you for your review, i'm so pleased most of your meals were delicious! Please do let us know when you are next in, we'd love you to try the cauliflower dish again, as we always revisit our dishes when we receive feedback. Very best The Swan
Incredible food and wonderful rooms. Would highly recommend.
Good Afternoon Lucy, what kind words, thank you very much! Very best The Swan
Very good experience at The Swan. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, lovely atmosphere with a great open fire. Every course was great but my wife loved the lamb roast. Good beer choice. Going back soon.
Good Afternoon, thank you so much, all of our staff, front of house and in the kitchen, work so hard so this positive feedback is great to read! we also think it is so important to have the fire going, especially in this miserable weather! looking forward to welcoming you back soon, very best The Swan
Great Sunday lunch. Good choices on the menu, good value for money for the quality of food but drinks are slightly higher priced. However this is only a minor comment and would definitely go back again.
Good Afternoon! We love our Sunday lunch and are so pleased you did too! We make sure to offer the best drinks selection we can find, so some are priced slightly higher, however we do offer a house option for everything. We look forward to seeing you again soon. very best The Swan
Great food nicely presented at a good price. Birthday fizz made it extra special - thank-you!
Delightful pub with a great feel. Food tasty and imaginative. We will be back.
The decor, ambience and menu promised a great deal however food didn’t quite deliver for us. It was perfectly nice but not quite amazing as other reviews suggested.
Absolutely OUTSTANDING!! From the excellent friendly and professional service upon arrival through to departure, to the ridiculously delicious food, to the very good and reasonably priced wine list! Honestly, hand on heart, this is the BEST meal we've had in the UK and we live here! We've been a few times and although it's a 25 minute drive, we consider it our "local" pub!
Well done to the Management and Staff! BTW, try the Chicken & Leek pie... I've had it three times and it is consistently outstanding!
Very very very disappointing and a waste of our money, will not be returning. Thought as it has just reopened that it would be wonderful but it was too awful for words. Food tasteless, £29 ribeye was without flavour, and chicken cassoulet dry and my daughters steak was raw not medium rare. Staff pretty indifferent. Left without pudding as did not want to waste anymore of our money.
Definitely try the tarte flambee, the bread board, the mussels in whisky cream, the black pudding turnover!
We ordered the mixed bread plate and the fougere (differently classified) only to discovered that it it was pretty much more bread. My husband's moules frites were good but the grapes on my salad were frozen (not sure if they were meant to be) and the whole thing needed salt. Perhaps my tastebuds had been devastated by the copious preceding bread course. Oh, and the wait between breads and mains was too long...45 mins.
I would go back and order differently, maybe just a main. The setting was lovely and the walk in the surrounding countryside afterwards was fabulous.
Really lovely night. Served by David who was superb. Food was delicious - had cod cheeks, mackerel and the haddock. All scrumptious followed by a chocolate Jaffa cake desert which was to die for!
Fab interiors and great food. Need more vegetarian options though -- we went for Sunday lunch and there wasn't a veggie roast option at all. But the food we had was quite delicious and the Polish waiter was a darling and very professional!
Having been to the sister pub in Churchill we had high expectations and were not disappointed. An excellent Sunday lunch! We will be back.
Had a fab Sunday lunch, the service was very attentive and helpful and the food was gorgeous, great value main course and nice wine
Interesting menu, high quality food, beautifully prepared . Good service and pleasant cosy ambience.
The service was very slow, they even admitted they were short staffed! The food was ok. We ordered two Irish coffee which they did not now how to make. When we came to pay they had the cheek to charge us £40 for service. Unfortunately I will not recommend or return to this establishment.
Good quality food at a descent price.
Big menu from lots to choose from
Lovely experience all around !
Great food, atmosphere and service. Thoroughly recommend.
Something not quite right ! Restaurant felt cramped with small tables but with a huge bar area that nobody was using . The menu has an awkward layout that doesn’t lend itself to easy reading .
Overall good attentive service but not on my list of must haves !
A quiet (at lunch on a Tuesday) venue with rustic tables and mis-matched chairs. Outstanding and invariably interesting menu, although perhaps difficult to construct several coherent meals involving different dishes. Perhaps we shouldn't be so ambitious! A pricey wine list, but the house rose turned out to be excellent. Service started well, but tailed off at the end (admittedly we were quite late). The broad bean hummus was surprisingly delicious; the chopped hanger steak, however, had far too many capers. The burger seemed unambitious and out-of-place, yet was in fact involving, tasty and surprisingly complex. The BBQ prawns should be issued with free bibs (marketing opportunity?) as, although wonderful, they were extraordinarily messy. Excellent peaches and really unusual (and good) custard tart with raisins. Overall most enjoyable, and well worth the drive!
I have been ill with sickness since midnight on Friday, I had the chicken, not saying that my illness was due to the food but would be interesting to know if anyone else was ill
Friendly staff, great garden , a few more creative dishes or sharing dishes to the normal pub menu . But it is just good pub food , the veggies sides were really tasty Worth a visit for a fun, friendly casual supper with friends and NO washing up.
