The Swan Hotel, Wadebridge
A lovely family friendly town centre pub with restaurant, situated at the heart of Wadebridge. The newly refurbished Swan Hotel is the perfect base to explore the beautiful local areas of Cornwall.
We were served by Amy who was incredible with our children. She asked there names and was extremely friendly and accommodating.
First time eating out indoors since December and we had a great experience and I'll be going back again.
It was very busy when we visited, but we were seated and served very quickly. Food was very good and we enjoyed every thing ordered, can recommend the fish and chips good size portions
15 min wait to take order, almost an hour wait for the food to come. Service was curt at best, at times even rude.
Food was wrong when it arrived - when I queried it, was met with the right words but an air of irritation that I’d queried it but it was rectified, of sorts. It turned out waitress didn’t know her roast meats and we worked out after the event she’d given the wrong plates to the wrong customer (which we’d tried to clarify at the outset). Food was also like warm and congealed - prob sat under a heat lamp for too long.... one meat portion was tiny and what was there looked like it had been ripped off the joint
We were overcharged - had to ask for a different person to get copy of the bill (which we weren’t given when we paid, which was upfront) to check this as we’d been assured it hadnt been the case.
Phone rang incessantly, no one answered - in fact, staff were told ‘ whatever you do don’t answer the phone’. Poor potential customers. Drove me mad.
Such a shame because we’ve eaten there a lot between lockdowns, and had some great takeaways and fab service in the past. It’s been our choice to eat out locally on many occasions.
I get that it’s busy, and stressful esp in COVID times and I sympathise. But everyone who’s read the news knew it was going to be heaving this half term week, so why the shortage of staff?? The customers aren’t an unwanted by-product of the job, they’re the reason for the job. We were keen to support local businesses now they’re opening up again but we have cancelled our booking for later in the week, so thats one less booking to cater for. We’ll give it a miss for a while. Such a shame.
Absolutely lovely food and plenty of it. Friendly and helpful staff. We will return.
Very lovely food, if you book online the table might not be enough seats as it’s located by a computer so maybe easier to ring to book
Booked a table for mum and dad as they have been locked up during covid! Really lovely atmosphere , nice friendly staff and the food was great , I popped along after for a drink and they really make you feel welcome and all covid safe
Sunday roast came out cold. The staff seemed a bit "stressed"
Food reasonable but peas and mushrooms on mixed grill cold. The music was too loud and not appropriate for a relaxed eating environment
We visited on saturday for a drink first before going for a meal booked else where.
When we arrived the lady who saw to us wasnt very welcoming in the way she spoke to us.
She showed us to our table which was upstairs. Said she would be back in a minute to take our order. This took longer than expected for her to come back therefore we ordered 2 drinks each as we were short on time.
20 minutes later we were still sat there with no drinks. Someone walked by and asked if we had been served so we explained weve been waiting 20 minutes and still hadnt had them.
He went to chase it up, came with them and was apologetic.
The atmosphere upstairs was very cold.... I know you have to keep it ventilated but I feel it was far to cold. We had to keep our coats on.
Also noticed that the table hadnt been wiped down before we were taken to it as it had salt on it and we were only there for a drink!
In fairness the place looks nice and reviews about the food seem good.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to experience it.
We booked 2 tables for lunch at 14.30 via the App and 10 of us drove from Padstow- only to find the kitchen stops serving at 14.30.
We were told that they hadn’t got the booking (even though it was confirmed by email and on the App).
The kitchen didn’t start service until 17.00.
Not good and does not encourage me to use Open Table in future.
Good atmosphere .
Staff really trying hard to make sure we had a good time.
Definitely go back.
Great pub, fantastic friendly staff. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu, lots of drinks on offer. This pub looks like it's really making an effort. To be dog friendly to is just brilliant. We are due to return to Wadebridge in June, we will def be returning.
Lovely variety of food choices with large portions. Staff polite. Areas cleaned regularly. There was a slight problem with one meal but this rectified with no hassle. Would recommend. 👍🏼
Great food. The portions are very large. Great value for money.
Team were fantastic and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend
Environment very unbecoming, service very off par.
I appreciate that it is table service but even with call bells had to wait quite a while
Very slow service. Took 40 minutes before we got served. Considering there were at least 4 staff and only about 20 people it was unexpected. The staff were friendly however and food is always excellent.
Rude waitress, not welcoming stood waiting for our booked table for 15 minutes.
Great food and amazing service considering the times we are in.
Katsu burger was awesome
Great service, great food and value for money, well impressed.
Very efficient & hygienic when arriving. It felt clean enough & sufficientlywell spaced.
Staff were polite & attentive without being intrusive.
Meal was very tasty & good value.
We had a nice relaxed time.
Really lovely, safe and must add I want the gravy recipe please. Thankyou
We had Sunday lunch at 2.30pm and it was OK but not brilliant
Had to ask each time to place our orders
Good food, good customer service! Coping well with Covid protection measures, whilst not losing feel of the place.
We had a very enjoyable lunch and get very safe with the COVID rules in place
This would have been outstanding in sure, if we could have had the Christmas menu which we were expecting. It was a hard menu to find but I did find it in the Facebook page, I also saw the message to book online at it is a new service which I dutifully did. At no point, either on the menu, or during the booking process, or in the text messages or emails received after booking for confirmation, did anyone as us to preorder!! I found out accidentally in the morning if it booking and when I rang I was told we would not be able to have anything from the Christmas menu, which was a huge disappointment as we had really only booked to eat there on the basis of that menu. However, we were able to have a festive platter to share which was good value and helped sooth our disappointment. Hopefully no one else will get caught by the unhelpful online booking system!!
Enjoy our night. Would have been good to be told to order on app , instead of having to wait to find someone after 40 mins.
Eaten here several times and always good food. Pleasant friendly staff and nicely decorated for Christmas!
Lovely food and we were sat upstairs in the newly refurbished bit which was really nice!
