Amazing kind service, congratulated us on our engagement and made a lovely congrats desert. Wonderful!
Arrived for 12.30 reservation to find pub closed and notice on the door to say opening at 3pm. It would have been nice to have been informed and saved a long journey.
Lovely food, great service, friendly and efficient.
Home cooked food, open fire and fantastic staff!
Really good food massive portions well cooked and friendly service. A reduced menu but as much choice as in the past but maybe due to Covid 19 restrictions.
Friendly staff. Good food. Great location. Doing it’s best in challenging times.
A brill country pub with good, honest pub food. Looking forward to visiting in more normal times.
This is the third time we’ve stayed. The menu was less extensive than previously but we still recommend it.
Beautiful place and setting but for poor. Straight out the microwave
Our favourite place to eat and it was so lovely to be back. Staff are amazing and the food was fab.
The steak and chilli pie was really nice, shame that two out of the three Cumberland sausages weren’t fully cooked.
Food is inedible. Cheese Burger was ok & filled me up. The Stilton Soup my wife had tasted like dirty dish water, quite revolting. Not even the chips were edible, we had to send them back to be recooked!! Only saving grace were the Mozarella Sticks which we're fine as we knew they had just come straight out of the freezer.
Staff we're very friendly. Great selection of Gins & local beers & good children's menu & they followed all the Covid regulations etc..
Lovely pub, beautiful views. Friendly service. Good food, well presented.
Only criticism on food was not much filling in tuna sandwiches. Beer was good and service great! Lovely open fire and very welcoming.
Thankyou
Excellent specials menu with e.g Pheasant, alongside some very fine ales in the heart of the beautiful newlands valley.
Had a lovely meal in front of a roaring fire at a very delightful pub. Would definitely recommend
Food was ok, but presentation not as good as previous visits.
Vegetables were undercooked and some meat in the pie was chewy. However portions were good and nice atmosphere with friendly attentive staff.
We went for lunch and although we felt the menu was somewhat limited what we had was delicious.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming - especially helpful for us as we got lost and had to phone for directions !!
Friendly staff, prompt service and delicious food in a Covid safe environment.
We went for Sunday lunch at about 2.00 pm. Whilst the food was pretty average, the service was really poor. We waited ages to place an order then about 10 minutes later the waiter came back and said he had lost our order. It was a good 20-25 minutes before our drinks came and another 20 minutes before the good came. Also,a group of young lads were sat at the table next to us. Language was terrible, so we left and had coffee and cake elsewhere.
Excellent just excellent, we went twice in 4 days and got great service and food both times,
The staff were very friendly and professional, the bar was warm and a great atmosphere,
Definitely recommend this pub
Had sunday dinner here - not great, portions were quite small and food quite bland.
Great place to eat ... as always a nice friendly welcome !
A fantastic time was had here with my visiting family on Saturday evening. Unable to find an available table elsewhere I gave The Swinside Inn a chance, as they had availability.
The service, food and pub itself were all fantastic. My three young nephews were made to feel extra special and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
My visiting sister in law has not stopped talking about her trip to “the perfect pub” and I’m already thinking about visiting with my partner (who had to miss out) next weekend.
Hearty portions for hungry walkers! Great burgers!
lovely place to stay, stay very helpful, rooms cleans, food good, views amazing.
Excellent service from the moment we arrived, very good menu also a very good specials menu, the steak I had was excellent really well cooked my wife went for the scampi which was excellent, sticky toffee pudding for afters , couldn’t fault it, great night overall
Lovely little place with super pub food. Lovely views and friendly service
Rather conventional, unimaginative menu. Fair service.
Never disappoints. Good Covid practice in place, lovely food (salad accompaniment is delicious served with the sandwiches) and always a nice atmosphere. We'll be back soon - Covid rules permitting.
Enjoyed the experience, food was lovely and staff were very professional. In the present climate felt very safe .Overall well worth it.
Delicious Sunday roast in a lovely old style country pub. The Yorkshire puddings are especially tasty.
Love the Swinside inn - just different with COVID-19 safe rules.
Amended my booking with no hassle on the day and food and service great as usual.
Just wish it was busier for atmosphere, I was not driving so I could Drink more and we could all mix together and my dog Betsy didn’t take a dislike to anyone in a 😷- well will 100% be back and anyone who claims catbells should always have a pint here to finish 👍🏼
Delicious Chicken, Leek and Chorizo Pie, Chips and Veg and friendly service. A lovely cosy evening.
Excellent value for money, food was delicious and will definitely be returning.
Good food, friendly staff. Daily specials add variety. Would return
Great food as always. Only small negative is that the menu is smaller with less veggie options.
Service was pretty good, especially from K. It still felt fairly normal, while safe and well spaced.
Very nice place and amazing food. We will come back.
Had steak pie which was amazing and plentiful too. No room for a dessert, which was a shame
