Starters tasty. Pate & bruchetta. Main meal wow. Mixed grill and risotto fabulous, good portion well presented tasty
Dessert awful. Cheesecake very chalky tasteless. Cheese on cheese board dry and crusty.
Very cold in building eating with coat on
Service polite but had to ask twice for water.
We enjoyed ourselves very much - just a couple of comments about the hanging skewers main courses - they look great but the stuff hanging on the skewer goes cold really quickly, and new poatatoes are an odd accompaniment. Otherwise it was great - and good for our coeliac guest, who was able to find a nice meal that worked for her
Again a lovely meal highly recommended for food and service
I would recommend because they have made the attempt to offer veggie, vegan and gluten free menus.
My main criticism would be the vegan options aren’t great and the only dessert is sorbet.
The food was acceptable but they made basic service errors; we were approached to make a payment before we had even ordered. My drink never arrived despite us asking for it several times yet it still appeared on the bill. They need a front of house experienced person to sort out all the young people working there.
Lovely food in lovely pub with friendly staff, very close to house we stayed in
Fab lunch, just what we wanted! Surprisingly good vegetarian and vegan offering
Nice setting, excellent staff. Lovely food, could have done with smaller portions, I will ask next time, and that will be soon.
Very nice meal, just started to get busy so service wasn’t very quick but no complaints
Had not visited The Tal Y Cafn before , but as it was on our route to visit the theatre in Llandudno we decided to book a table for three before the show. On arrival we parked in the large carpark at the rear and were welcomed by the staff. The dining area is spacious and cosy. We ordered a main meal and sweet which was delicious, everything cooked to perfection. By the time we were ready to leave the place was very busy and that was early evening which suggests it has a good a good reputation. We certainly will be calling again.
Excellent refurbishment, but a few things are letting it down. i.e. toilet roll holders in the ladies o/o/o. Black tape on the hand rail into the building. Coffee machine was not working. I would not want to sit in a booth again as the table was too high/seat too low. But having said all that the food was excellent and we will definitely be returning.
A group of 3 colleagues we were in North Wales on business for a week - bored of hotel food this was recommended to us and we enjoyed a lovely meal here .
We had a lovely evening and were served by excellent staff and with great food
We booked a table for 4 last Saturday. As soon as we arrived the waitress took us to our table. Drinks ordered and menu given. Excellent choice to suit all tastes.
The starter and mains were excellent-the beef on the skewer melts in your mouth- delicious.
The portions are also generous and although we we're tempted to have a dessert my husband had the choice of a selection oflocally made ice cream- the rest of us where too full!
Staff excellent and it's also a bonus to have welsh speakers and a bi- lingual menu.
We wish the new owner/ manager all the best.
This was the first time attending this location, having visited it many times in the past under different management. Ambience and environment was excellent, as was food. There was a very wide selection of meals available. Service was professional and efficient. Only comment I would make is that no one asked if we had enjoyed our meal either during or after it. This was the only negative point and something that is easily corrected.
We had visitors staying and wanted to go out for a special meal but were a bit concerned as a) it was midweek and b) our last meal at TYC (last year) was disappointing to say the least and hence we had stayed away. We had heard that the business was under new management so we decided to risk it.
We need not have worried!! We arrived and even though it was midweek there were two very helpful waitresses who unhesitatingly relocated our table so that we were sitting by the very welcoming feature log burner. There was an excellent pint of draught beer and the wine was keenly priced - indeed, thanks to a change of supplier my preferred choice of red was discounted by 25% and I couldn't resist ordering another bottle!
The menu was varied with plenty of choices and two of us had the beef hanging skewers which were pronounced a triumph. The portions were also generous meaning that we could only manage one pudding between us.
It was clear from the outset that Graham, who was behind the bar when we arrived, was taking a very keen interest in proceedings and chatting with him subsequently established that he is the owner and he is passionate about standards and service.
The staff evidently take their cue from Graham and they deserve to succeed - we'll certainly go back.
lovely location and overall the restaurant was very stylish. The hake Sunday meal option was sublime and the sticky toffee pudding delicious.Good range of gins if thats what you like.Service good, attentive but not in your face.
very good food a very nice place, been altered to a very high standard
Slow start as had to wait for our drinks to be brought to our table. However food was excellent, both starter and main courses and this was served very promptly too. A good choice of dishes on the menu to choose from and a lovely restuarant to eat in for my birthday, would definitely come back here again as overall had a very good meal in nice surroundings.
The food was very nice and there was plenty of it. But, having booked for an earlier seating (5.00 pm) I would have expected a slightly faster service.
Lovely meal , great service will definately go back
A superb evening enjoyed by all members of the group. A warm welcome by Ellis followed by excellent waiting on by Myrddin (??).
We both had the trout, one being supplied gluten-free and dairy-free with no difficulty. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Two empty plates.
Lovely food, good service. Couldn't actually finish the desert due to being too full....which is a good thing! :) Would definitely recommend a visit...and the kebabs!
Quite expensive for the food on offer. Restaurant lacks character. I won't return
Came here with my boyfriend and our dog a couple of nights ago and I can not recommend the place enough! As a vegetarian it is really hard to find a place that offer more than one meal choice, so I was chuffed to see a whole menu for veggie/vegans! Great atmosphere, great food, lovely staff and dog friendly - a must if you are in the area!
Arrived early but no problem, food was very good and nicely presented. Staff were very helpful and spoke welsh which was good as we are welsh speaking. Pleasant atmosphere and enjoyable meal.
Small portions for all meals, ordered whitebait for starters and it was £5.50 for seven pieces of whitebait and a salad. Mentioned this to a waiter and they shrugged and walked off. With my mains some pieces of chicken were chewy and did not smell right.
Otherwise the atmosphere and pub was lovely, drinks were nice and most staff were lovely.
As a group of four vegans visiting snowdon, we were looming for places to eat that could accommodate us. Your menu had a few vegan options which we thought we’re great, however the chef must of thought the vegan choices were bland and covered it in pepper so much that we were coughing our guts up the whole meal which was so unfortunate as the food was actually delicious and didn’t need seasoning! Other than this we loved our experience, but I would definitely just let the chef know to be careful when seasoning. There’s salt and pepper on every table so let the customers season it themselves.
Food and Service was 10/10!! Steak cooked to perfection. The whole three courses were amazing, cant fault anything. Top marks to the chef! 👌
We had an exceptionally nice meal . Greeted with a bottle of proseco to celebrate our golden wedding celebration. The staff were all very helpful , sociable and attentive .
Food was well presented and plentiful.
We will definitely return .
We left with a cake prepared for us by the chef!
We arrive 30 mins before our table booking. Had a drink at the bar which is very easy on the eye and great drink options!
The hole meal was amazing . We are normally just a 2 course sort of family but we all had 3 because we just wanted more of the great food ! Service was also on point! Can’t wait to go back!
We were extremely disappointed with the food but put it down to being a Bank Holiday. Unfortunately the kitchen didn’t get all the meals out and forgot one of the children’s meals altogether. We therefore didn’t eat together and our child was hungry and unhappy watching us. When mentioned to the manager at the end he was rude and insisted because the child had eaten the food it should be paid for. In all honesty I have not experienced that attitude in 40 years if dining and working in the Leisure industry myself. It was quite disgraceful. No customer care at all but all credit to the waiting on staff who ran round all evening trying to service customers and this should not go unmentioned.
Average pub food at restaurant prices.
Barbecued chicken wings starter wasn't barbecued, baked wings daubed with a sugary sauce after cooking.
Smoked haddock risotto had a lot of bones but hardly any haddock.
Shoulder of lamb with leek and potato dauphinoise - dauphinoise had a tiny bit of leek and was really just sautéed potato slices buried in the gravy under a very large and tender piece of lamb (that unfortunately tasted very much like mutton), but the veggies were beautifully cooked.
Cheeseboard had about 5 small grapes, celery, crackers, some average cheese, and the nicest fruited mini bread loaf that was really good with the blue cheese.
We had great food and a great time. It was a shame we couldn’t book one of the booths through Open table.
Staff were friendly and accommodated our request to move table to a warmer location in the restaurant. Food was tasty and well cooked. Large portions. Nice old biulding with modern interior.
Things have really improved here lately. Spencer front of house is a real asset. I had the Caesar salad. Slightly disappointing.,an awful lot of lettuce and couldn’t find and dressing., apart from that a lovely lunch.
Very disappointed. Booked table for 2 via web. Arrived on time and given very small table for 2 when there were plenty of empty bigger tables. But it was ok. We were on a time limit as I had to get home to my elderly mother. We ordered our food, which took quite a while and they were not busy. I had a cold starter as a meal and my husband had trout. My meal arrived. Nearly 10 mins later my husbands meal had still not arrived and no explanation. I called a waitress over who said, mine was a starter. I explained I was having my starter as a main meal which I had explained to the waiter who took our order. She went away and came straight back with my husbands meal, again with no explanation, only an apology. Sadly my husbands meal was virtually cold. If we hadn’t been limited for time, we would have sent his meal back. No one came over to ask us was everything alright with our meals, but we heard the waiter asking other customers if their meals were alright. I called the waiter over to ask for the bill. He then asked us was everything alright and I told him no, and explained why I was not happy. He said the reason my husband meal was late, was because they were not happy with the presentation and sent it back to the chef. Fair enough I respect that, but they should have at least made sure the food was hot and explained the delay to us. He apologised and when we went to pay, only charged half price for my husband’s meal, which was decent of them. Sadly I feel the menu is not as good or varied as it use to be or the food as good. In the past we have some fabulous meals there, but not the last 3 times we’ve been. Not quite sure what is going on there, but it seems a bit hit & miss. I’m not sure if we will go back.
One of the best meals we have had, we went out for our anniversary. Credit to the Chef
excellent service and food Well worth the drive.10 out of 10
