Half the menu was unavailable. We waited 10 minutes at the bar before anyone appeared to show us to the table. After 15 minutes of not being offered a drink we decided to leave. Oh and there was a leak in the middle of the restaurant ceiling.
the food was very good and the service by Heidi Douglas-Osborne was outstanding
We had an enjoyable lunch for four with family members. The service was attentive and the food was good with a wide menu choice. We look forward to another visit in the near future.
Although I have said I would recommend I do have some caveats to that...
We attended on Sat evening at 800pm, the restaurant was very quiet wiht only 3 (I think) other tabels in use.
We ordered Rib Eye steaks but were told they had sold out. We than asked for the only other steak on the menu and were told "oh you're lucky they are the last two!" It felt pretty poor that the kitchen could have run out of two main items so early on the Saturday evening.
Also, we were in and out in 55 mins as there was no one else for them to cook for or serve.
On the positive note the starter tasted really nice and the steak was good quality
Nice enough pub set in a beautiful village location. Could have been amazing but the attitude of the staff let it down. Service was slow and when the serving staff actually did appear, they acted like we were doing them a disservice by being there.
Food was poor - sirloin of beef mainly fat
Manager couldn’t be bothered to come and discuss
Bill reduction delivered by waitress from manager paltry
Very dissatisfied- won’t be returning
Good range of well cooked food. Service also good. Recommended.
There was a good choice on the menu , the service was excellent and the food delicious, the restaurant had a good atmosphere and the staff very friendly.
I have been here dozens of times and keep going back. A lovely country pub and it serves lovely food. The bar is also well stocked. Service is also very good
9 people , fish overcooked and dry. Braised beef chewy. Pork belly not crispy.
A really long wait for drinks and over priced
Well worth a visit good quality food and drinks in a welcoming inn
Pleasant dining experience, although chairs were a little uncomfortable.
It was very quiet, hence very little ambience....I ordered Chicken Ceaser Salad. The Chicken was like rubber. My friend was pleased with the Lasagne she ordered. She also had a Dessert, which she also was pleased with. We ordered 2 Cappachino coffees. When they arrived, mine was a Latte!
We both agreed that our meals were quite expensive in comparison to other places and we would not be returning ......
staff were welcoming and friendly. Had the Sunday lunch which was well presented and delicious
Tasty food and a good service. Would definitely recommend.
Unfortunately we firstly had an obnoxious man speaking very loudly on the next table and the when he left we sighed with relief only to have a power cut and having to re-order our food. Fortunately we did all get a meal which was very nice and 3 cheers for the chef who managed the situation well. However then all the lights went out and were obliged to make our way home - shame they have a lovely garden and the food was good but not quite the evening we expected but they coped well. Will attempt another outing so here’s keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well next time!!!
Food was great but the service was very, very slow. Wes waited over 45 mins from main course to be asked for desserts.
A very enjoyable evening. Food beautiful, staff friendly and overall really lovely
Beautiful setting beautiful food what more can we say
A charming village pub-restaurant offering a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. Reasonable prices for most items on the menu. A return visit is a must!
Early evening dinner was booked and we arrived ahead of booked time but didn’t have to wait and was seated right away. Was quiet in the dining room as it was quite early so no surprises there. Chose two simple meals of steak and kidney pie which was served with chips, garden peas and gravy. All in all food was nice and it was a relaxed dining experience, perhaps a bit overpriced but good overall.
Lovely atmosphere in restaurant, decor is nice. Our server Emma was friendly smiley and attentive without being pushy. We ordered fries which didn’t come however we really didn’t need extra food. My curry was lovely and the fish and chips were large and tasty but the lasagne very average. Lovely looking salad though very fresh. Nice variety on the menu. We would go back!
Very pleasant and amazing food
Food and location was fantastic however table service was slow
The staff were very welcoming and very attentive. What ever I asked for they were more than happy to help.
The food was outstanding and look forward to visting again
A nice Sunday lunch, eaten in the bar. The toffee apple crumbles as excellent.
Enjoyed the pre-meal cocktails and the food was delicious. Will definitely return
Ordered fish and chips, fish was really greasy and the mushy peas were dry, had to ask for the tartre sauce the dish is supposed to come with and it wasn't very tangy, I've tasted better from a jar. The desert was OK though. Service was friendly but slow.
Absolutely delicious food, will be frequenting again soon! Thank you ⭐️
Unfortunately booked the talbot for our wedding anniversary we were told there would be a 15-20 mins delay. No problem with that seems fine don’t mind waiting for fresh food to be cooked so we waited and waited and waited but unfortunately after 1.15 mins we decided to leave as there was no food coming out of the kitchen.
I explained the reason for us leaving and just wanted to settle drinks bill and the waitress said there would be no charge which was a nice gesture but we were not kept informed and by the time we left it was to late to eat else where.
Great environment, perfect hosts, fantastic food and overall exceptional
Great service, and some lovely specials, plus a great Chenin Blanc
Yesterday we went to The Talbot for Mother’s Day after previously an exceptional experience over New Year. We were vastly disappointed. The service was slow. Menu was limited. Half the food couldn’t be chosen because they had run out! Not impressed. Dirty glasses were stacked up on the bar!I would think twice about spending my money there!
We went there for Mother’s Day and the staff were all very helpful polite and friendly.
They went above and beyond to help us even changing food for my son who is a fussy eater .
The food was delicious and plentiful.
Would highly recommend
Absolutely horrific experience! We booked the table for my birthday at 4.30pm: we had a baby with us and arrived at 4.45pm in a taxi to be told the kitchen Now closed at the new time of 5pm so they couldn’t serve us food. When we disputed this with the manager as the website said food served until 7pm and open table took bookings until 6pm we were told that they had only recently changed and hadn’t updated the website or open table yet and still refused to give us food. We then said we should go to the horseshoes opposite and the manager said not to go there as it was ‘really bad’. After calling all other pubs in Belbroughton to find they had all stopped serving food we ended up in the Horseshoes where we had the most wonderful service and food!! Anyone thinking of going to the Talbot think again - go and see Henry at the Horseshoes opposite!! The worst part of the situation at the Talbot is we weren’t offered any form of compensation, not even a drink! Disgusted!!
The food really was fantastic as was the service; would highly recommend
Starter Chopped up Lamb kofta on a whole dry pitta and a dab of tzatziki was extremely difficult to swallow and really rather boring for the way it was advertised.
Mains and pudding were ok.
A very nice place for lunch or dinner. The premises are well overdue a refurb (rust showing on radiators, paintwork has gone yellowy brown!) Biggest problem which is easily fixed - the kitchen door makes an almighty bang when staff come through!! A bit of TLC would make the place much better.
Can't fault the food, drinks or service. We like smaller portions, so the Sunday lunch was just fine, but a little expensive at £50.00 for two! (included one glass of wine and one coke)
Table reservations have limited time!!
Although the steaks were superbly tender i was disappointed with the menu choice this evening as items were sold out and i didnt wnat the alternatives sausages, faggotts, risotto, fish and chips
amazing Food and friendly staff. Would recommend over and over
