Visitors to The Tappit Hen will enjoy modern British cooking, using seasonal, local and wherever possible UK sourced ingredients. In the restaurant, the a la carte menu changes frequently, while the bar food selection is the perfect accompaniment to the diverse wine list. The wine selection at The Tappit Hen features many wines shipped exclusively by Davy’s Wine Merchants; while in a nod to one the building's famous, former owners, Sandeman, one of the largest selections of Port and fortified wines in the City will also available by the glass, bottle and Coravin.

The Tappit Hen has steak night on Wednesdays, but we didn’t feel like steak so ordered burger and chips as a main and a starter of Serrano ham, Russian salad and Legbar boiled egg. All delicious! Good wine selection and finished with a port and Madeira. Very enjoyable evening.

The Tappit Hen is tucked away down St.Swithin’s Lane but should be tried at least once after work. The service was excellent with our waiter greeting us at the door with a smile and looking after us for the evening. Food was of a high standard and the wine list had a large range ‘by the glass’ which allowed us to try wines outside our usual choices. Another visit is on the cards.

We had nibbles to share which we lovely with curry nice wine. The only downside was the music. On some point the music became very loud. Not quite the place for it. This place is more about sharing a drink with friends and catch up.
