The Three Cottages
Lovely Sunday lunch
Not been for a couple of years as wasn't overly impressed last time! Would we go again now? Definitely! Food Choice is diverse and quality amazing! Slightly pricey but great quality!
The food was excellent, very tasty, hot, highly enjoyable.
Unfortunately it was obvious from the owner that she didn't really want us being there. Quite abrupt, did not engage in conversation - there were only three tables occupied at the time we went - and a couple of times it felt quite uncomfortable.
It felt she couldn't wait to get us served, and have us finished, and have us go.
At one point we moved into comfortable chairs alongside our table - before and after the meal - but we certainly received a less than pleasant look when we did that, even though the rest of the room was empty.
We left at 8.30 - dining time was 7.15 - and she was locking the doors behind us.
It was quick service, but felt a little too rushed.
If you want pleasant and engaging service - go elsewhere. If you are only bothered about the food - fabulous, go and try it.
The food was delicious as always. The staff are friendly and helpful, even offered to take the baby while we ate. It wasn't as busy as usual but was spotlessly clean and really well organised.
Arranged this as part of a trip up to visit my mum and my brothers family in Chesterfield. Pub got a good rating and was conveniently nearby. Ambience and atmosphere in the pub was good and staff were attentive but the food was disappointing for a Sunday lunch.
Roast beef was pale and dry and looked like it was cooked previously and heated up on Sunday.
Vegetables were generally OK but cauliflower cheese had only small fragments of cauliflower in the cheese sauce. Red cabbage was overly sweetened and tasted manufactured and warmed up. I can’t comment on the other Sunday lunch offerings of turkey and pork because we didn’t have them. Some of my family had fish and chips and scampi and that looked freshly cooked and good. Starters we had; prawn cocktail, Asian prawns etc were all good so no issues with the starters just the main course roast.
Was disappointed with our visit after high expectations. Unfortunately the floor was very dirty with food which when you are the first to arrive for lunch isn’t really acceptable. We felt the meal was overpriced to say a lot of it was clearly re heated frozen food.
Young and untrained staff. Very off putting staff stood nearby talking about who has and hasn’t caught covid - including the owner. Just not good enough, if you want to chat do it away from paying customers. We won’t be back I’m sorry to say.
Our first time at The Three Cottages, and we really enjoyed our food. It was a quiet evening, so we could enjoy our conversation and the atmosphere. The staff were attentive but not intrusive and we didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive.
The quality of the food was excellent, and nicely presented. We even found room for a pudding!
The only drawback for me personally was the situation of the table. It was quite close to the entrance so each time the door opened I could feel a draught, resulting in me feeling quite cold by the time we finished our meal. Perhaps a table in a different area may have suited us better, and next time we'll ask about that. So, yes there will be a next time, and I will also recommend to friends.
First time we have been out for a meal in a while.
Food was beautiful service was great
And felt very safe
Thank you all
great food and service, nicely spaced tables to keep you safe during these covid times!
We eat here quite regularly and like to support local businesses. We always have a great experience and enjoy the food. We ate as a family of 4 for my sons birthday. It was very quiet so staff were very attentive.
We all had the fried halloumi starter which is gorgeous and all had different mains. I had the lasagne which was scrummy and came out in a hot dish so was spot on.
Overall very happy to give 5 stars and thankyou to all the staff x
We hadn't been for a while due to the current COVID situation, but we were well looked after in a friendly environment. Food was lovely will hopefully be back soon.
Lovely place just food not as good as expected. Maybe as it was.mid week
Great Christmas celebration meal. Garlic mushrooms were particularly great, not just any old garlic mushrooms! Lovely staff, nice mix of trendy and traditionally comfortable setting.
Lovely Sunday lunch , tables well spaced out , service good but not intrusive
The food was alright, as one would expect from a pub. I ordered a pate starter - which was really tasty but it was the smallest serving of pate I have ever come across. There were two finger sized pieces of toast with it. The duck for mains was Ok but came with no sauce unfortunately. The service was very good. A few little touches to the food and they will be as good as they sound on the menu.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Service was swift and the waitress very pleasant. The room was lovely and warm. All in all a good evening.
Lovely family meal at the three cottages. My daughter loves the amount of choice offered on the children’s menu.
Very friendly staff and delicious food.
Welcomed like friends, service excellent and the food and drink great
Service was very good. Sunday dinner was beautiful and cauliflower cheese was amazing! Definitely recommend
Was ok .was ok .was ok was ok wasokwasokawsokwasokw.
A typical "Punch2 outlet with the improvement of a quality host and staff. they go the extra mile to add value to a visit. The menu and food are pre planned quality with little or no variation allowed from a national outlet chain. Worth a visit for a value meal.
Food and staff were brilliant. Many thanks.
Great menu to choose from!
Disappointed with the food, especially the pie and chips, both of which g=had been so much better when we came a few weeks ago.
Great service, delicious food. What more could we need?
This place has a lovely conservatory in which to enjoy a pleasant meal with family. Attentive staff and tasty food
Food was amazing, staff brilliant as always
Lovely food great service
Great layout and reasonable mix of tables and seating in beer garden / kids play area .
Very welcoming, courteous and helpful staff. Food was very good and outside area has had a huge refurbishment during lockdown.
Haven’t been since all the works been done love it kids of space and lovely set out. Only scored what I have due to the circumstances I’m sure once everything is back to normal the place will be even better with a great atmosphere
Food was ok , only had a salad so not much to get excited over , the lady who served us though was the most miserable person ever, I understand it was the last day before lock down but indeed went to have a last meal out and wanted to enjoy ourselves, instead we felt rushed, unwelcome and really uncomfortable
Food fab, staff friendly and helpful and the new extension was just perfect x
Food was amazing. Will definitely be back again. Lovely decor and very quiet.
Sunday dinner was really disappointing, veg and meat was not great. Also came out in 5 minutes so it was just warmed up in the microwave.
Puddings were really good
We have had Sunday lunch a few times as it’s been my mother in laws favourite place. to have Sunday roast. Last Sunday the beef
was really tough. The rest of the food was good but the beef was
Inedible. 11 October
Nother most enjoyable meal in nice comfortable surroundings. Staff very friendly. Will deffinitely be going back.
We had a lovely meal after being greeted by two friendly staff. It was very covid safe so we felt relaxed and comfortable. Have been to the cottages many times and will certainly be going again.
Great place, amazing food, dog friendly and reasonably priced what more can you ask for.
First time visit. Great staff, great food, an excellent place for a meal.
Will be back again soon.
Not really good value, each main meal was over £10 which was a lot for what you got! Please try and do a better offer for us older, people I know it not easy the way things are.
