The Tickled Trout
As an extension of Hush Heath Estate, the winery plays a major role at The Tickled Trout where all of our wines and ciders are offered by the bottle or glass. We host wine tasting events throughout the year, offer full experience packages combining estate tours with lunch or dinner, and offer a set menu of beautifully prepared local produce matched to our award winning wines and ciders.
I love this pub! Beautiful decor. Warm inviting atmosphere, fabulous staff. Food was all delicious, not to mention the wine! Would not hesitate to come back, in fact I can't wait to.
Very disappointing, menu was limited, some items were not available as 'menu was changi g on Monday ', not sure I understand why that was relevant. Service was slow and some items, ie water and coffee had to be requested twice. The toilets were out of order and the customers had to use the staff toilet which contained cleaning materials and other stored items. We were once frequent visitors before the change of ownership, we wont be back.
Pleasant restaurant & good for a lunchtime meal as not busy.
Yes I would recommend The Tickled Trout .This is a lovely pub and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and well presented. The staff were brilliant too. Looking forward to coming back to try out more of the menu.
This was our second visit, and again fantastic food, great service in a lovely pub.
Was a good pub restaurant made to feel welcome in a relaxed atmosphere. Nicely presented food .
Good service . Good specials .
Great food and excellent service. Would definitely return
Light and airy once inside. Comfortable chairs to sit on as well as stools at bar. Friendly staff and good food. Recommended.
We frequently go here with my 91 year old mother who lives locally. She loves how they cook the fish and how she is looked after. Great place and would thoroughly recommend it. Great facilities for families as well.
Very friendly welcome, good atmosphere. No staff around so had to keep getting up for drinks, condiments etc. Parts of our meal were not up to scratch, but there was noone around to tell, so we just ate it. I would go back but the food needs to improve.
Welcomed on arrival, friendly staff. Roast meal was delicious and quick in coming. Only thing to spoil the meal is the noise level when the restaurant is busy the noise gets loud and with the music going it got quite horrendous. The peace and quiet when we left was lovely. However love the place and will return
Have not been to the Tickled Trout in years as used to be a place you couldn't get into unless you booked way in advance.
Firstly the pub itself is lovely. Plenty of parking and looks great as you pull up. Inside it continues to be very pleasing on the eye and well presented.
The food I have to say is superb. All courses were delicious and served promptly.
The only negatives being completely honest was trying to get staffs attention wasnt great. Most restaurants, the staff come and check frequently or at least glance over regularly. Alas we did kind of feel we were trying sometimes to get their attention. Also, we did have to sit through our whole meal listening to the managers discussing the following weeks rota. Maybe that would be better done behind the scenes.
The food would make me come back for sure but the ambience not so much.
By far the best roast dinner i’ve had inKent and trust me I have tested quite a few..
The others loved what they had , mussels and salads.
Lovely terrace , plenary of space outside on two levels. If prefer inside, all nicely furnished. Will definitely be back again!
We had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends, good food , service and friendly staff , will be back.
Lovely country pub with a nice relaxing garden to sit in. The wines are top notch and the burger was perfectly homemade. Not a bad word to say about the service, but I must say, I was disappointed with the starters. They all sound so tempting and 3 for £13.50 seemed good value but when they came out we were disappointed with the portions. 4 pieces of watery, chewy squid, 3 halloumi sticks and the scotch egg wasn’t a runny centre. Luckily the burger impressed. Would still return and maybe choose other dishes.
The manageress was not very welcoming, tables had not been cleared from previous customers.
The atmosphere was very poor or non existent.
The food was poor value for money and service was a bit rough.
Lovely meal, menu isnt huge but so many of this dishes on it sounded delicious! Food was tasty and came out piping hot. Great service. Good value; we had 3 courses plus a large glass each of local wine for £35 a head. We’ll definitely be going again!
I’ve deleted my first review. It was too damning on all levels. Let’s just say they must have had an “off day”.
We went on the recommendation of a friend. Very disappointing. My wife was very pleased with her mussels and chips (but had to ask for a spoon and somewhere to put the shells, and for finger cleansing was offered a serviette). (£16?). More details for the management if they wish, but it might be considered libellous here.
Excellent evening - good food and the service was great!
We enjoyed our evening, a friendly welcome, super food, will be back.
Lovely Sunday lunch with smaller portions for mum who doesn’t eat so much. Recommended 😊
Great lunch. Beautiful pub. Lovely garden. Relaxing meal with 2 small children. Would recommend & visit again
Went here for Sunday lunch
Both had the lamb which was really good
Plenty of veggies to
But managed to save room for desert I had the apple/rhubarb crumble with custard and hubby had sticky toffee pudding
Both was really good
Will definitely go back
Excellence service staff are very helpful. Good local produce wonderful atmosphere
Lovely meal with my husband. The first time out in months. Beautiful food and they even remade my salad because we forgot to request no dressing. Much appreciated. The only reason it is not 5 stars for me is that there were a group of people vaping at the table next to us despite the no smoking sign and they were not challenged. As a pregnant woman I found this unacceptable.
It was no problem to make my dinner booking later, as we were going to be late. Restaurant is lovely inside, low ceiling and wooden beams. There is a lovely terrace and garden in which we sat for a g&t before dinner, enjoying the last of the sun. However, service to collect our orders, clear plates etc. was slow. My burger was £13 just for the burger, £1 extra for cheese, bacon etc which seemed expensive for a standard burger. The rest of the food was delicious, particularly loved the warm scotch egg for starter.
Thank you. We had a lovely evening. Warm welcome. Pretty garden, and nicely decorated drinking and dining areas. Very good aperol spritz, and some super wine with the meal. Liked the menu, and enjoyed the meal. Good service. Recommended, and would go back.
First cam across this pub a couple of weeks ago.
Really lovely country pub and the food looked lovely. Both had the roast dinner, lamb was lovely but the sirloin beef was far too thick and very fatty.
They said we would go back again.
New to Kent
Our first visit to the Tickled Trout and it won't be our last. A warm welcome from the bar staff, lovely service throughout the meal and fantastic food. We had the roast beef which was probably one of the best I've had in a pub. We will be back to sample more of the menu.
Great service, lovely ambience. Unfortunate with lamb serving but dealt with very quickly and remedied satisfactorily. Next time will ask to sit further in the restaurant rather than by the door / staff station.,
Really good food. Nice venue. Polite staff. Didnt have to wait long for food. Would definitely recommend and go back
The service was very slow due to insufficient staff. Unfortunately they ran out of fish so I had to settle with pasta. On a positive note the ambience was great.
Went for a birthday meal on a Tuesday night. Food and service were excellent would definitely recommend
Below average for everything! Very disappointed. The service in particular was dreadful. We won’t be returning.
A pleasant and friendly place to eat . Service efficient ( things were quiet) . The blackboard special (sea bream with some mussels) was nice fish well cooked, and the starter and sweet on that board were good also. The gluten free fish and chips wasnt very fresh and I recall that on a previous occasion the "cheaper option" on the menu wasnt of the same basic quality as the special.
Wine list lacked an interesting white and the cider choice lacked a dry bitter cider, so I had mineral water. We live within walking distance and I note the dog could join us in bar area though not the restaurant.
The food was excellent and good value. The menu is not large, but offers a good choice, with fish, meat and vegetarian.
If I remember correctly there were 6 meat main courses, and I was surprised that at 8pm on a Friday night, with only about 1/3 of the tables occupied, they told us that two of the choices in the category were unavailable, the chicken and leek pie and, incredibly, the steak (a pub restaurant basic). One of the starters was also unavailable.
We also stayed at The Tickled Trout and the room and breakfast were both very good.
Great food and service. Would recommend this restaurant.
Lovely food in a nice restaurant. Good choice of food on menu.
Great roast pork dinner, but my son said his burger was dry.
Whilst the staff serving were friendly enough the lack of food remaining on the menu and indeed wine chosen was frustrating. Appreciate it was a bank holiday but would have expected better food availability.
