Easy to book for midweek lunchtime. had to manually sign track and trace. Friendly staff, great meal, nice quiet pub restaurant. Would recommend
We had a lovely time! Can recommend the cheese burger & 1/2 chicken roast!
Been a while since we been there but on return found the menu pared down to the bone (pun intended). Of that single-page menu, three items were not available. I eat out quite a lot, and rarely write poor reviews, but this evening needed comment. The place was very clean, quiet and we want to encourage business at any restaurant in these dire times. The waitress said that they had lost some chefs and things would change on Tuesday. I truly hope so. The Tickled Trout used to have a great reputation, but much needs to be done by the management to work on that. The staff were pleasant enough, as couples arrived all you could hear was the litany of things that were not available on the brief menu. The quality of what was served was fine - but not what we set out to eat. If I had checked the menu before we booked, we would not have gone. Mea culpa.
A good quite clean place to visit easy to book online
Restricted menu and two of the six starters we chose were not available at 7 pm ??
The bread basket was a waste of space, the bread was chilled rather than warm,
Main course choice was fish and chips which were ok but not brilliant.
Did not stick around for a dessert.
On the plus side the drought IPA beer was excellent
Nice outdoor seating
Lovely food and service was great. Could do with slightly comfier chairs in the restaurant area but overall a good experience!
Enjoy our meal we had the Sunday roast only niggle not enough vegetables for two apart from that everything was ok will be returning
Lovely place, great outdoor space.
Superb staff, attentive.
Felt very safe and clean as well
OK, but afraid not good enough to come back again
Booked here for bank holiday Monday as I was aware there is a play area in the large garden. Disappointing to find it closed off especially as local playgrounds are open. My son was very upset he could not play on it.
Although we enjoyed the food it seemed the portion size had been reduced, when my dessert arrived my partner asked if I had ordered the children's portion it was so small.
Service not great, 2 meals arrived and a delay before the other 2 came out for the kitchen. My children received their dessert but none came out for myself, I had to go and ask at the bar and the guy did go and find out which I thanked him for even though he was dealing with payment as everyone had to pay on ordering.
We will not be rushing back to eat here.
very good, would go again and recommend to family and friends
The greeting was ok but not friendly a little abrupt but we are still in Covid19 times. So may be due to that. Table back by 8.15 was fine.
Food was good and tasty. Both pies ordered no veg with them. Both pies were delicious and the mash. Burger and fish & chips were good. Customer service wasnt friendly or caring.
The Eton Mess desert was very small. The 2 gypsy tarts looked great.
This was 50per cent discount and so we were happy.
There needs to be better customer care even in Covid situations. I will return as I come in for a drink in the beautiful gardens and have lunch and dinner. I like the Tickled Trout I have eaten here many times just this was not my best experience, sorry to say.
Very welcoming, very friendly and clean, good food
Just excellent all round from parking to seating and ordering will definitely visit again
Great food and service and lovely surroundings....
Queueing to sit at the table then queuing to order each course Was tedious and not covid friendly.
Food adequate, though they ran out of peas! Substitute offered.
Empty tables slow to be cleared as other diners departed. Quite a few flies distracting.
We felt rather uncomfortable with lack of COVID precautions. Staff did not have PPE and sauces came in bottles that were passed around.
nice outside seating garden.
Food rely nice
The pub is set in the lovely little village of Wateringberry , oaks beamed low ceilings full of charm . The staff were polite and although they had run out of Sunday’s roasts they did call and advise us . We had a table inside which was comfortable and we were distanced from others along with the covid guidance. We started with the baked cambert which was delicious, then the steak and ale pie , also included seasonal veg , jug gravy superb. Finished off with gipsy tart, pouring cream . Although we both thought the cream jug could have been bigger, the overall meal was lovely and went down well with some pear cider . Would definitely recommend.
Overall a very enjoyable meal . The size of the desert could have been larger for the price . The roast beef and the vegetables were perfectly cooked.
One or two quirks with the service - we had to ask for desserts twice. But that was the only thing wrong. The pub is fabulous, the kids love running around the beer garden and courtyard, plenty of entertaining kids play equipment and totally enclosed so you can actually take your eye off them and enjoy your food for a few moments.
We had the Sunday roasts, every bit as good as they look in the photos you see online. And they were very accommodating when our train derailed and we were two hours late for our reservation!!
I'd definitely return.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Beautiful place to eat
My local of choice... Always tidy, never too busy.. And good Covid precautions
Can not fault the resturant and service. Unfortunately at this time the menu is small, no sandwiches at lunchtime?
After a long spell away from visiting the TTT we took advantage of a last minute cancellation and government £10 offer and in short had a great lunch with the kids. Menu was limited but that was only to be expected, distancing was well in place, food quality was great, staff were good (but not outstanding) and obviously the final bill was a lot cheaper than it would have been; all in all worth a visit.
Lovely food, friendly staff. Went during the eat out to help out period and therefore was excellent value.
Lovely meal, the food was delicious. Quite a small menu choice but not a bad thing as the quality was good. Straightforward pricing and comfortable surroundings.
Food was nice enough but very limited, unimaginative menu choices. Ended up having a cheeseburger, which I would never order in a restaurant, because there was nothing interesting on menu. Won't be in a hurry to return until menu improves. Shame, as Tickled Trout used to have brilliant food. If you like the basics, they're well done but if you want something celebratory give it a miss. Menu choices shown on website were not available.
Booked a table but chose to eat outside. Selected table under extractor fans but in a sheltered sunny position. Our choice so no complaints.
The welcome was friendky and efficient. Food came in a reasonable time. The fish was cooked perfectly, great meal.
Very good at the price, excellent with the Eat Out discount.
So good going again next week.
Food great, but the service was a bit hit and miss... First servers were very good, but after the shift change we seemed to be ignored whereas people on the table next to us were checked on a few times etc. and received their desert before our mains had been cleared, even though we were 1/2 way through our mains when they ordered starters..
Accepting their ordering App was not working. Ordering of the food was at the bar with a pay as you go rule.
I had to go to the bar to order drinks, mains, more drinks, desserts.
If the idea was to reduce foot traffic in the restaurant waiter ordering would have been much more sensible.i did ask but was not really given any reason why table service was not used other than the app is broken.
I had a table next to us with children playing digital games with volume turned, I had to ask them to turn the volume down as the staff didn't seem to be aware of how annoying it was, and then had to put up with sarcastic comments from adults at that table.
It took 3 attempts to get my dessert order correct.
A poor dining experience.
Lovely country pub/restaurant with a warm welcome. Good food. Lots of outdoor space.
eat out to help out offer.
Nice spacious garden for little one to run around
Sadly a disappointing trip, service poor very understaffed, felt sorry for the 3 members of staff who were working really hard in extreme heat. We had pre booked and heard many people be turned away but took over an hour to get our meal from ordering. The fish and chips was excellent but the Summer vegetable curry was literally only a bowl of courgette and tin sweetcorn which was more like soup, the rice and poppadom were fine but very disappointing especially after a long wait. Thankfully we only paid half price due to the Eat out to help out scheme. Didn’t bother waiting for dessert and won’t be rushing back🙁
I thought I’d booked on line but booked another restaurant same name different area the staff were so helpful fitted us in found a small make do table we wouldn’t have cared where we sat because the food was so very good and the service from staff was first class even though they were so very busy nothing was too much trouble
Delicious food. Lovely staff and outdoor seating. Just a shame it took over 1.5hrs for our food to arrive from the time we ordered. However we would return given the high standard of food
A good escape from lockdown. Good Covid 19 safety measures in place.
Nice quality food but menu could do with being a bit more extensive.
Very pleasant outdoor seating area but needs more tables with sun umbrellas.
Would certainly go again..,.in fact I have been.
Food was nice but very disappointed with how long our food took to come, no apologies for the delay.
Ordering food via app meant unable to tailor choices but food prices fair and meals generally good quality. Drinks seemed very expensive.
