The Titchfield Mill
Poor Sunday lunch, veg cold, meat was over cooked, staff disinterested in our complaint, won’t be back
I don’t have an evening with my family very often, and when I do, I want to go somewhere nice with great food and good customer service. The booking for our table of 7 was for 7:30 and we finally sat down to order at 8:30. Ok, these things happen where other customers take their time to enjoy their meals, but when you are informed by the manager that their online system allows the venue to “triple” book, I was not impressed.
Our table was in an area which was cold with the radiators turned off. After asking repeatedly to turn the heating on, they eventually did so.
We sat for 10 mins chatting and looking through the menu and making the choices for our dinner. The waiter then came over to take our order and informed us that most of the choices on the menu were no longer available and we were limited to what we could have. Not a great start.
The food was average and nothing special.
We made the most of the evening, enjoying our family time. The waiter did his best to look after us and we thanked him for this.
The management did provide our table with free wine which certainly helped and I thought this was a great way to show their understanding.
The Management at The Titchfield Mill need to get their act together. Customers are the most important thing you have, and without them, you have no business.
Unfortunately The Titchfield Mill is now off my list and we will not be back.
Apart from the waitress constantly checking if we had eaten our food, she couldn't wait to take our plates away. We hadn't finished eating.
Also when we eventually had finished, she took my drink away that was half empty.
When I approached her she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off.
The meal was lovely. We had the Cheeseburgers. Very tasty.
Also my sister nearly fell in Car park as very poorly lit.
A business lunch was held at the Mill, at 12:15 23/11/2018... first thing ordered off the menu, ale pie, was not available, the second item fish pie , was not available... really... it was lunchtime and start of service.
Generally the meals were not presented nicely, my onion rings were mushy and cold...
An attending lady visitor in our party was not impressed with the Ladies lavatory, broken seat and no soap????
No complaints were made on the day due to the nature of the working lunch and not to embarrass the international visitor present...Instead we will not use this restaurant again.
We went with our friend for lunch on Saturday 12/05/18 having dined at the Mill on numerous occasions, since we moved into the area and without any issues.
But this Saturday was horrendous, the first problem a person had to be moved from our reserved table (not the staffs fault)
We ordered 2 x ham eggs & chips (large = £21.90) & 1 x black pearl scallops & cheesy garlic flatbread very poor indeed
We will return to the Titchfield Mill but NEVER on a weekend……..
Maybe an unlucky experience. An early Sunday lunch booking but they had run out of large parts of the menu and had issues with their soft drinks dispenser so could only provide bottled drinks.
Superb food in a lovely setting. Excellent service from all staff that we encountered from the minute we walked in. Will definitely be returning and recommending others to visit.
Great meal, staff very friendly. Will be back soon.
No trace of our booking on arrival. 45min wait for food. Cod goujon was thick puddingy battered unrecognisable white fish and 'triple cooked chips' were identical to fat oven chips.
No crème brûlée available as they'd run out of gas for blowtorch!! Awful lunch will not be in hurray to return and will not recommend to anybody!!!
We arrived for our meal at 2pm and were seated after waiting at the bar to be seen for some time - it seemed the bar was understaffed.
The food was enjoyable but we were some time between courses. I have Parkinson's though and am slow at eating so that didn't help.
We eventually left about 4.45 after 2 courses. Would return to this place.
Much improved since our last visit, service was good, the staff lovely and the only drawback is that the food could have been hotter- the main reason for not giving 5 stars and should probably have been 4 1/2!
Much improved since our last visit, good service from the start to the finish. Good food and excellent service.
The food was lovely but we all felt over priced. Had we not had a gourmet card which gave 25% discount it would. Have been a very expensive evening.
We had a family meal and the food was great! Good portion sizes and we didn't have a long wait for food either 😊
Food was very good, but why don't you employ more staff behind the bar or waiting staff. I love the place and would go more often if you don't Have to wait so long for a drink...it was ridiculous the amount of time to get served......!
The location is lovely and although close to the main road, you didn't really hear the traffic. The staff were courteous, polite and quick delivering orders.
We were fortunate that it was a lovely sunny day and ate in the garden which was really nice. I think if there was probably one less table and the tables spaced better so that you didn't have to listen to others it would have been perfect.
Very good though, will go again I've no doubt.
This was the first time we had visited since the refurb. The place did not look much different but we sat upstairs which was lovely. Really feels like an old fashioned comfortable village pub/restaurant. Food was really good and staff very very friendly. Thoroughly recommended.
We had an excellent meal. Staff did everything to make it a pleasurable experience. Will definitely eat there again.
Starter was gorgeous & the main meal would have been if it was hot!
Unusually for the Mill we experienced an average evening. On previous occasions our experience has been excellent. This won't put us off as we hope this was a one off.
One of our meals did not show up, and the server said it wasn't cooked to their satisfaction, only to find out later they forgot it. The replacement was served raw, which didn't help matters. There were a couple of items that weren't available on the menu, which would have been nice to know as of course we ordered them - one being a child's dinner. One main course - halibut - was not good at all. We have been to Vintage inns before so feel this was a one off, but it was still disappointing as it was a birthday celebration. The manager was kind enough and made it right but our server would barely look at us and pretty much ignored us the entire evening, not wanting to confront our displeasure. Will give it another try after a while, hope it is better.
Was told straight away that there was no chicken on the menu, it was only 12.30pm and then asked for a Guinness which was not available !. The meal was Lukewarm and they were cutting down as a refurbishment was due to start the next day. If only they would of said on the web site !!
Excellent menu...excellent food and excellent value for money......Top class food in a lovely informal setting. Would recommend and definitely would go back.
Great food and service, as usual. Always a pleasure to eat there.
