Considering Covid regulations we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Toad
Excellent would recommend good 👍 good service brilliant
Great location on sea front, only problem was a lot of steps to enter premises. Food nice and hot, service friendly
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Couldn’t have had a better evening.
Lovely tasty food served by very pleasant, helpful staff.
Service was a little slow and crowded entrance area due to bar stool seating area
Good food, excellent service, place very clean and orderly, but very cold. Asked for the heating to be switched on but took some time to reach comfortable temperature.
Friendly staff, prompt service, great food and drink.
Lovely old pub in a great setting, excellent food (we had the roast lamb) & ample portions. Could've done with a bit more buzz but hard to create an atmosphere with reduced seating at the moment I guess, so more an observation than a criticism.
Most of these restaurants serve the same food these days, this was very nice, not quite as hot as we would prefer and yorkshire puddings inedible, they are not meant to be cooked to a crisp. We had the worst table upstairs in a corner looking at a wall.
We have ate out more during the pandemic to help out local businesses but my cooking is better than this, just saves the washing up.I would go back when we can but would not accept that particular table.Would still recomend though.
Food was excellent , cod Kiev best meal I have had out in a long time .
Firstly, pleased to get a table at such short notice, lovely welcome and excellent food. Service with a smile (I think.... behind the masks 😊) Prefer to have sat in the lower area, but as I've said it was a late booking and nobody else in our area 5 minutes after we arrived. Would definitely book again, thank you
Lovely food, setting and staff but the portions of squid and main stir fry were very small.
Had difficulty cutting through Ciabatta's and meat was a bit tuff
We have dined here the last 2 Fridays, had the Salmon first time, this week we had the cod, and the chef has cooked the fish to perfection each time.
Very good food and reasonable choice. Pricing is fair and staff friendly and attentive. My in laws would love this place but sadly it not suitable for disabled persons.
Excellent food and lots of choice even for vegetarians. Would definitely go back and try other things on the menu. We had a lovely evening as a family.
Friendly and efficient service. Very tasy food, good portions and pleasant atmosphere. Going again this week!
Living locally I visited The Toad again having visited it previously. My cousin and a friend who came to see me had been before and were looking forward to visiting again. They were not disappointed. The food service and staff were first class.
Definately will visit again when friends visit me.
Was shocked when adding my tip to the bill ,I was asked if I wanted to increase it
Superb food and attentive (but not pushy) staff. This place is an absolute gem. Reccommend the Welsh Black Rump Steak, its fabulous.
Friendly staff, prompt service, good guiltily food, and non intrusive.
I was with my disabled sister in law, the staff really couldn’t have done more. Food great as always.
Excellent quality lunch today.
Reasonable price too.
Will return
I enjoyed a lovely birthday meal with my husband and two friends. The menu choices were great, as was the service.
Meals were all enjoyed with relish, and I would heartily recommend The Toad to anyone.
Food and service were great however, they had ran out if prosecco which unfortunately meant none of the table could have cocktails, which is what we were looking forward to. Also, we were told that they had none of the wines on their wine list and were told instead that there wine was of similar region and percentage. I would suggest updating their wine list or having a chalk board of their actual wines instead. Also, restock prosecco especially for busy periods such as Friday and Saturday evenings.
Good choice on the menu, fast and friendly service. Food was lovely. Great location.
We had a table in the window with a beautiful view of the sea. The pub is old and a little shabby, but in a charming way. It's very clean. The service was beyond excellent. I had put on my booking form that one of the party was allergic to dairy, and as soon as we were seated the server assured us that she'd discussed it with the chef and he was happy to adjust anything on the menu to suit. My friend was delighted not to be limited in her choices for once. The rest of us made a few minor adjustments to our choices - changes of vegetables, the addition of gravy etc, and there were no issues with it at all. The food was good. I've had better, crisper fish and chips, but it was perfectly nice. It's a great place to eat after a walk on the promenade: friendly, helpful and solidly reliable on food.
Beautiful roast beef & Yorkshire pudding. Beef was melt in the mouth. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will be going again!
Lovley place to have a meal and great staff. Would recommend
The Sunday roast was gorgeous - all piping hot & plenty of it. Very good value. The staff were all very good too, pleasant & friendly. Would definitely recommend
Had a lovely 2 course Sunday lunch. Food and service was outstanding. Will definitely be going back .
Excellent food. I had black beef, roasted. It was a perfect rose pink. It came with pea shoots and parsnip chips, delicious red cabbage and veg. Delicious! And very reasonably priced.
My only issue was accessibility, as the dining room is up stairs, then the toilet is down stairs. You couldn't do it in a wheelchair and it's a real challenge if you're elderly.
We've been to The Toad twice now and will certainly go again. Very pleased with the food and service. Nothing was too much trouble. Food is of a high standard and I'm fussy. You should know that there are a lot of stairs to the restaurant.
Most enjoyable lunch, friendly helpful efficient staff. Food tasty, well presented, generous portion. Looking forward to my next visit.
After having had the roast beef dinner on a previous occasion which was great I was very disappointed with the roast turkey dinner. The meat and roast potatoes had obviously been reheated as had the somewhat gelatinous gravy. Had I not been with friends I would have made a fuss but didn't want to spoil or evening out. The first and third courses were fab. So although I'd recommend the Toad to a friend I'd tell them not to bother with the turkey!!
Literally our favourite place to eat out. Fab food and fab staff.
Very good food and drink. Warm and welcoming. Friendly, efficient staff. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent service and food in warm comfortable surroundings
