Fantastic fresh food. Service was brilliant very attentive, friendly and knowledgable staff, really made this restaurant stand out.Highly recommend!

Friendly, cosy and relaxed atmosphere caters for everyone from those celebrating a big occasion to the tourists in T-shirts who pop in on the off-chance of a table. The food is always top notch, imaginative, expertly prepared and presented, including several fish/seafood options and at least one meat and one vegan choice for each course. Local suppliers and staff all help to boost the local economy and add to the overall experience.

Great locations, lovely indoor setting overlooking the harbour (if you get those seats). Food was fresh, well presented but severely lacking in flavour, seasoning etc, was really bland. wine was delicious, but £175 for three people, for the taste of the food for me, was hugely overpriced. (Three starters, three mains, two wines and a portion of French fries) But… I will say the mussels were seriously good! I would probably not return, unless it was only for the mussels.

This is our first time in Scotland. We’ve been in many areas over the past two weeks and have had many wonderful meals. We were specifically looking for a seafood restaurant and were thrilled to find The Tollbooth! Everything was delicious! The presentation was wonderful. Service was outstanding. If we ever make it back this way, we’ll be sure to dine again.

Fantastic location, amazing food and excellent service. We visited for our 3 year wedding anniversary. My husband has an allergy to rapeseed oil and I asked if this could be accommodated. They did this and we enjoyed the fantastic food on offer.
