We had a lovely late lunch (2.45pm) with friends who were back home form Bangkok and wanted good, local food. They were not disappointed! We had a delicious meal and I have already been recommending The Tolbooth to my friends. The starters were all excellent and served with their home made warmed sourdough with butter..we had to order an extra portion it was so good! The roast rib- eye beef boards were absolutely perfect and beautifully presented. I did think that the Yorkshires were a bit dried out though and slightly overdone.That seems to be a problem everywhere!! Overall, a lovely afternoon and we would all highly recommend this great restaurant.

Stunning food with amazing service. Went out of their way to cater for the coeliac in our group & didn’t make them feel like they were any different. Could not fault anything with the food, wine, service & venue. Would definitely recommend

Our group had seafood lovers, meat fans and a vegan. Everyone was very happy with their choices for all three courses. Great!

I think something has happened to the Toolbooth since last time we ate there.: 1) The place is nice (still quite noisy) but strangely enough one wall needed re-paint 2) We ordered 2xglasses of champagne as a starting drink and they were served on prosecco glasses and worst they were warm(!) 3) The toolbooth was for me the Premier sea food experience in Aberdeenshire...unfortunately the menu has now become the usual "we have a little bit for everyone". 4) the Starter "duo of Salmon" was ok but very very tiny portion 5) the Coley looked and tasted "boiled" in his water...disappointing 6) the waiters are good willing young people, but lack style and experience 7) I personally cheered looking in the eyes the kitchen personnel in the restaurant both getting in and leaving, they did not bother to reply What has happened?
