From Saturday 30th April we will resume food service in our main garden and riverbank. The full menu will be served outside from 12pm-5pm. We regret we cannot take reservations for outside tables and service is based on first come first served. Please also be aware that we may have to suspend service at any point dependant on demand.

We booked to eat in the terrace but it wasn't open so ate in the lounge area service is usually good in this hotel but was very slow on Monday They seemed to have a shortage of staff.

Lovely meal in the main restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive and food was outstanding. My partner had the lobster salad, I had the steak, both beautifully prepared.

The waitress who met my party and served our table was obviously very comfortable and professional in her job. Made us feel very welcome and gave us time to decide our orders. The food was good and served promptly. Overall a great sunday lunsh experience.

Plenty of menu choice. The three of us chose different meals and we all said they were very good, as was the service. Staff were polite and good rumoured. I had a pint of Wainwright beer which I thought should have been better looked after. Overall it was a pleasant meal.

Ordered a BLT toast was slightly burned and bacon had been pre cooked and no mayonnaise. Disappointing as I love the Trout. Come on even I could produce a better sandwich than the one i got.

The service was great. We were initially in the bar area, which was warm & noisy, we requested a move and once a table became available we were moved Into the dining room which was cooler and quiet. After ordering the food it was a bit slow coming. However once it came I could not complain it was lovely. It was Sunday lunch, the vegetarian nut loaf was delicious. No complaints, enjoyed the evening.

I love the trout.. it’s comfortable and clean and has lovely staff. The kind of place that people want to return to. The prices have risen a lot in the last 12 months which has made it more of a treat rather than a weekly lunch. I chose a turkey sandwich yesterday with no cranberry. It was a nice sandwich but there was very little turkey inside. I could have complained and they would have changed it. But I shouldn’t need to. In short, they need to make sure that the higher prices are still giving good value to loyal customers. Please bring back coronation chicken too as the sandwiches are quite boring. We will returning soon, maybe an overnight stay, so I hope that this review is read and taken on board!

On entering the Trout I’m always impressed by the cleanliness of all areas, the staff give a warm welcome show you to your table and take the drinks order. The menu has a wide selection of food and once ordered it’s not long before the well presented food arrives tastes delicious, the cheese cake is like an art form and tastes as good as it looks.

Menu choice has a great variety to suit all tastes. Everything we ordered was delicious. Requested to sit in the bar as we find it cosy & we had a great table. The lady who served us was knowledgeable about the menu & I ordered on her recommendation & wasn’t disappointed! Definitely recommend

Trout as been my favourite an always go every year to treat my mam for Afternoon Tea but this time was for my Birthday with my friends for the Afternoon lunch menu but the waiter was quite rude saying outside wasn't open n told us to go an stand at the bar !!! Until they got a table ready which I booked online an then couldn't find my booking was very unprofessional I thought very disappointed!!!
