About

Located just outside Burford in the rolling Cotswold countryside, The Upton Firehouse is our own take on informal dining. Truly unique. We use our own smoked meats and cook them over our feature huge BBQ which has to be seen

Have visited the firehouse 3 times now and think it gets better every time. Amazing food, love the venue looks so rustic and service was great very accommodating.
My only put down would b choice for children would nice to have a separate area with maybe chips etc as they don’t tend to eat a lot of the food on show.

My new go-to place whenever I am in the Burford area. I took my husband and some friends here on Sunday having been last summer myself and they loved it! A great spread of delicious smoked & cooked meats with some beautiful salads and accompaniments to go with them. The staff are very friendly and at less than £20 per plate for an unlimited buffet it's excellent value! Will definitely be back again soon!

Been passing this place for months so we thought we would book and try it. Booking easy online, staff very friendly and welcoming. Lovely place great atmosphere. We were seated but had a little wait to be told how it worked then a little more wait for our plates so we could go to the buffet. Salads all looked and tasted lush but to be honest we were very disappointed to say the least on the Quality of BBQ meats on offer. Online offered BBQ ribs etc and said menu varies but wasn’t A great selection for the money. disappointed with inedible belly pork (fatty chewy unable to cut with knife) pork steaks dry and over cooked , chicken thighs nice but no flavour. Over all very unsatisfied and winter be returning or recommending.

We were the only two people there but the service was very good. The lady who greeted us was very friendly and pleasant. The food was lovely with a good choice of dishes. Would like to go again in warmer weather when there are few more people around to create more of an atmosphere.

We have been to Upton Firehouse on a number of occasions and have always highly recommended it.
Following our booking for 6 at 3pm today, we also pre booked a vegetarian dish for one of our guests. However, we had a very bad experience and won’t be returning.
On arrival they had run out of chicken, the meat was very dry and cold as it had been sat there for quite sometime. Our vegetarian guest was told to help herself to salad and potatoes and there was no vegetarian dish plated for her as before. We were then charged £19.50 for potatoes and salad.
I spoke to a girl behind the bar who explained that’s just the way it is. Very unhelpful and didn’t want to know.
I asked to see the manager and was told they were both busy. After 1 hour, one of the managers came to our table. He explained they had a busy day and that’s why they had run out of chicken. Even though they still had guests coming in and serving food until 4pm. Couldn’t see a problem paying £19.50 for potatoes and salad as potato dauphinois is expensive. Good quality potatoes, cheese and cream is costly. Really?
He begrudgingly apologised and left.
Since the firehouse has changed ownership it’s standards and customer service have declined. Prices have gone up and I would strongly not recommend this place.
That’s just the way it is!!!!

The Upton Firehouse is a great venue to get together with a group of friends. It has a great atmosphere with awesome meat dishes and some salad and veg dishes. Mostly for the meat eater. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous venue with seriously delicious food. I’m not a huge barbecue fan but found so many other options alongside the meat that I ended up going back for 3 full plates!

Friendly staff and great service. Our son was having a (very) off day and we weren’t made to feel uncomfortable. Will definitely come back, absolutely loved it!

Food was lovely, although not the choice we were expecting. Also, nobody advised us on how we were supposed to get our food, apart from that it was very enjoyable

Really nice ambience and great for a family occasion with children. Salads excellent but meat disappointing. Not hot enough and thought it would be cooked in front of us as in USA. probably would have rated it higher had we not experience a Texas Firepit BBQ.

Excellent service and food was just right. You don't go in here expecting high-flying beautifully presented food - this is real, down to earth, well flavoured, and expertly cooked buffet food of a proper standard. Love the benches and decorations and the atmosphere which seems to be jovial through and through. A very enjoyable experience.

Had a voucher a gift for 3, when we looked on the website it says 3 courses, starter, main and dessert £19.50 ish each. Only the main was offered to us. Disappointing, missing a trick with the meat, especially on a sunday. Roast dinner type thing would be more appealing. Just a mix of hot and cold salads, well what we presumed were supposed to be hot, sprouts, dauphinoise potatoes stone cold. Not great on a cold winters day. Very rustic place but that's it. Would not return or recommend. Glad it was a voucher we used and not £60 of our own money.

Slight disappointment. Had heard good things but overall not that impressed. Was very much quantity over quality. Could not complain about amount of food available but most of the meat was tasteless. Would have preferred less choice and more taste.

It was very very cold, even though there is apparently underfloor heating. Waiting staff didn’t check if we needed anything so we kept having to go and find staff if we needed to order more drinks, etc.

The food is great
The seating area is quite cold in winter
The toilets are much to be desired and they need baby changing facilities.

Very relaxing afternoon there and good beers from the bar or the tap room. Can’t wait to return in the summer.

Great place to go for ‘big’ eaters but expensive if you are not. Food delicious. Terribly noisy and pretty claustrophobic...no windows!

Fantastic place to go if there's a few of you and you want somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, but not rowdy or with pumping yoof muzak. The food's incredible, the cooking area looks like something Brunel would have built, the staff are attentive and friendly and it's dog-friendly for those that have them. After (or before) a shopping trip to the Burford Garden Centre, this is a great place to get far from the madding crowd. Just remember not to eat anything at least 18 hours beforehand, you'll need the room....

We came upon this by accident one weekend and immediately booked to try it out the next weekend. It is housed in a huge barn with no windows but somehow it works! Eat as much as you like with 8 different mains of bbq meat fish n one veggie option. Lovely salads lots of choices. Unlimited potato dauphinois. All for under £20 a head. Craft beer on site! What’s not to like? Will be back!

7 of us (all girls) went to the Firehouse last Saturday for lunch. It was amazing. A wide range of salads as well as the delicious grilled meat and fish. For many it was their first visit to the Firehouse and they were wowed. This place really is very special.

Love the Firehouse and it never lets us down. We particularly enjoy introducing friends and family for their first visit. The food is simple, great quality and very, very tasty. Great slaw, fantastic salmon, really tasty slow cooks of beef, pork etc, just all really good. I could wax lyrical for ever, but enough said I can not recommend this place enough.

A bit pricy unless you are very very hungry. Would be better if the price included a desert too.
