we had a really bad experience. we'd booked the table for 8pm as we had a 10pm show and thought that would be plenty of time.... after an hr we still hadn't had our starters but the table next to us who arrived after we'd ordered had had their mains(!) We spoke to the waitress who after 10 mins of "looking into it" advised that they didn't have of the 3 starters we'd ordered left and the chef had "forgot" to tell us! suffice to say we had no time for an alternative starter and asked for our mains to be brought out immediately. they were pretty quick with the mains after that but the fish was pretty inedible and the blue cheese burger and no blue cheese.
very disappointed overall and don't think I would return which is a shame as I previously enjoyed it there
It was during the fringe so probably not an accurate representation of what the place is really like however we booked a table for 6.45 , arrived at 6.50 , told them we had a show in summer hall nearby at 7.50 therefore we’re in a hurry , our wine took 20 minutes to arrive , the food despite reminders arrived at about 7.35 , ( the steak ordered medium was rare but we didn’t have time to return it , we paid immediately , ate as fast as we could , and missed our show by 5 mi ire’s . All very rushed and disorganised
Running out of food choices. Beers and wines not available & out of stock
The sharing platter of tapas was delicious and the staff were very friendly.
Good food and very friendly service. Was the first sunny Sunday in ages in Edinburgh so most people were outside enjoying the weather and therefore not many people dining. Everyone enjoyed the food and the music.
The food was very nice and the wine was excellent.
The food was lovely, but felt a bit rushed to leave as we were the last there at 10.30pm
First visit to the Urban Fox. Booked online one hour before without any problem. The decor was fine and the background music did not prevent conversation. The service was friendly and quick and the food of very good choice and quality. We will be returning soon
Music is always good. Food possibly less interesting than before
Lovely little place. Great customer service and a fabulous plate of food at a very reasonable price.
Very friendly restaurant, lovely choice of menu! Unfortunately when we were there one of the ovens wasn't working so some of the dishes were off the menu, the macaroni, meatballs and haggis! Most of the sides contained these so that was a bit disappointing! My husband and I shared the halloumi which was lovely, my daughter had this too and my son in law had the pate! We all enjoyed our starters, good sized portions! The guys both had haddock for the main and my daughter and I had the pork (recommended on the web site) unfortunately although very tasty the crackling was solid so we couldn't eat it (I was afraid of breaking my teeth) I mentioned it to the waitress but she just smiled! Also served with (my pet hate) smash potatoes, why not real mash? Restaurant decor was my kind of thing quirky and modern!! Prices not too bad for what you get! Parking around it not so good, signs about parking are very decieving, meters outside state you are okay to park after 4.30pm but seemingly it's not as local shop owners saw us parking and told us it wasn't safe as cars have been towed away (even if the have a ticket on) if they.park b4 6pm so find a car park to be safe!! We asked the waitress about parking and she was no help as she didn't know!!??
Food was delicious 😋 👍👌I will definitely be back at the urban fox
Food was lovely, they offer lots of vegan and veggie choices. Our Onion rings were really late but they gave us free chips to say sorry and the onion rings were very good!
Needed a spot near work to grab a quick lunch with my family who were visiting Edinburgh at the time.
We are seated at a bright table by the window with plenty of space. Though the restaurant was unusually quiet, there was still a pleasant atmosphere with some low key music.
The servers were very friendly and patient, and smiled a lot throughout service. The food was cooked to order, and looked great when it arrived - a big platter of sharing bites; nachos and burgers tasted great too.
Will definitely return. Thank you!
First visit to Urban Fox with some friends.
The food was fabulous and and very reasonable priced.
Great choice on the menu for everyone. We started with a sharing board which was great for trying different starters.
A vibrant feel to the place, with a big selection of music being played
Will definitely be back
Thank you Douglas! We're delighted to hear you and your friends enjoyed your visit with us, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
