So much better at the Urbanist since they changed the Menu, the food is great, the staff are attentive, and the place is so much better. It is 5 minutes from where we live so will definitely be back.

This was my 3rd visit 5o the Urbanist, each time I have been with different friends, each one of them have been as impressed with everything.When we arrived it seemed cold,but imediately we spoke to the very helpful member of staff he apologised and adjusted the heating,definitely would highly recommend

We tried the urbanist on Sunday for the first time. Since we moved to Scotland, three years ago, we’ve struggled to find somewhere that does a nice roast. The roast dinner we had was absolutely delicious, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and kind. We have booked again for next Sunday.

Really enjoyed our food at The Urbanist. As a party of 6 we had a wide selection from the menu and every person found the food really good. Priced at an affordable level too. Would definitely recommend. Our server seemed a little new and lacked knowledge on the drinks side which did add a little disappointment to our experience.

Had a lovely visit to the Urbanist recently. I have always enjoyed the ambiance, decor and setting and found the staff to be friendly and attentive but the prev couple of times I had been I was disappointed with the actual food and wait times and didn’t feel it was good value for money. After seeing the new menu I decided to try it again and was really impressed. We had soup and prawn cocktail then Sunday roast and steak pie which was absolutely delicious. The cocktail choice was fab too. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and thought it was great value for money. Will def be back soon.

Myself and my partner went for our anniversary dinner. After ordering a mushroom and spinach roast, my partner was slightly disappointed at what she had received based on the description on the menu. However, after this was noted by staff, the dish was removed from our bill and we received a 20 percent voucher for a future dining experience. This was very unexpected and much appreciated as my partner was willing to just put it down to herself making the wrong choice. We will definitely be back!

Good basic pub food. Good IPA. Limited menu with a number of meal 'off'. What we ordered was also then off the menu. Disappointing. Haddock was good. Peas were a waste of time. Avoid the chicken burger. mediocre and expensive.

My dinner was lovely, partners was not good. Service was terrible. Waiting 15 minutes after asking for the bill, had to remind the waitress. Band started playing half way through our meal. Couldn't hear yourself think.

Picked Urbanist to support local businesses even though mixed reviews from friends. Quiet lunch time so my expectations were high, my husband ordered the steak and this was served with raw mushrooms which was unusual, I had the chicken with tomato & mozzarella which was very dry and would have benefited from more sauce. We also ordered dessert which was Eaton Mess which was really runny and looked more like a smoothie, liqueur coffees were cold. When we asked for the bill and said we were splitting it (one paying card and other cash) the staff member was unable to divide by 2 and kept asking what the split was…… to which I answered several times and he still wasn’t sure what to do. Also the wine we ordered wasn’t available but all others were which is a common occurrence in this venue.

We visited the urbanist last night as a party of 4.To say we were disappointed was an understatement.Our server was really good I have to say and it is nothing to do with her why our experience was bad.We ordered starters which were ok and came quite quick.3 of us ordered steak in different ways and I ordered a chicken burger which was ok.The steaks came and they were all cut into strips and tiny I have to say and way over cooked with terrible sauces.They were all sent back to the kitchen to be redone also they didn’t come with mushrooms or tomatoes as stated on the menu.We had to wait about another hour for the steaks which was quite embarrassing as we had taken family there.When the steaks came they were fine and the right size and not cut up but the sauces were hard in the containers.The server was a credit to your restaurant.I seriously think you need to address problems in the kitchen as the food is not great.

I visit regularly as I live local. I find that the quality of the food is either great or poor every visit seems to be a hit or miss. On this occasion it wasn’t great and disappointing. It certainly wasn’t cooked fresh for us and felt like it had been sitting for a while burnt roast potatoes, dried up roast beef.

We came to the urbanist yesterday, Having recently spent the guts of £600 on my wife’s baby shower, I came for fathers day / early birthday dinner for my wife. The food was nice enough - but the service was not. The girls were lovely, however repeated mistakes. 1st we were asked did we want burger & chips and Fish & chips as the chef had over cooked. My wife was going to have the burger anyway, so we took it. Our sons meal swiftly followed. Great. Next we had someone come and say ‘I’ve no oat milk but I can give u almond’ I had no idea what he was talking about. He said I’d ordered a latte. Wrong table. Then something about deserts being brought that we had ordered, which again, no idea what they were taking about. Next we had another waiter bring my little boy an ice cream cone, and when he went to reach out to get it, it was taken away as the staff realised once again they had the wrong table. I looked across to the bar to see them all standing laughing. We all felt quite uncomfortable and decided we weren’t staying any longer, so we settled the bill- which no one could find, so I had to rhyme off what I’d ordered. This was the first we had been out since the birth of our recent babies, it was meant to be a birthday / Father’s Day and a nice afternoon to relax & spend with our oldest son. Not to come somewhere and feel uncomfortable like that because it’s amusing that a table of people keep getting mistakes made. very disappointed, especially given the money spent on a baby shower recently and that was just for us the hosts, not including the 33 guests that spent plenty on alcohol. A review was left on the restaurant’s Facebook page but their response to that was to switch off the ability to comment, so my wife has now left reviews on several sites. We won’t be back, which is a shame as the place is lovely.

Father's day lunch. We had a brilliant time and can only commend the staff on dealing amazingly with a difficult and challenging day. The rudeness of some patrons to the staff was a disgrace and completely uncalled for. Such people should be barred! We have nothing but good things to say about our experience and in fact having a longer wait between courses allowed us to have a good catch up, laughs and stories as a family celebrating the Fathers in our lives. The bar also had some games the kids could play as well as colouring in their menus. My recommendation to those who whinged, get off your phones and tablets and actually talk to each other! This is the second Father's day lunch we have had there as well as several other general meal visits and we love the place. Can't forget to mention the attentive staff who couldn't apologise enough for the issues out with their control and being polite and calm in the face of rude arrogant people. Thank you to all the staff, you are great at what you do and don't let these people take the shine off that.

The restaurant was quiet as it was a sunny late afternoon. The service staff were helpful and friendly. One of our party required gluten free options, of which there were a few, either marked as such, or able to be adapted. All our food was first class, with portions being larger than expected, which suited some of the party more than others. All in all a very positive experience, with food and service being first rate.
