I've had numerous meals at the Velvet, since I live in Rossland. My spouse and I decided to try a Brazilian night at the Velvet, thinking that the experience would be interesting and a delight to our taste buds....but it wasn't. Our server was superb, but the food was anything but imaginative, in fact it was bordering on bland. Too many beans, peas, rice and cassava, but maybe that's the diet of Brazilians; I just thought the chef could've used more creativity. Oh, and the wine list is only suitable for anyone who wants to spend a small fortune with no write up as to what kind of grape is being used and the notes; with every bottle topping $100 and definitely more, I think that bringing your own bottle and having a corkage fee would be better. Overall this evening was a "MEH".

Special occasion, late mother's day dinner. The steak was fantastic as was the mushroom risotto! Large selection of wines/beers/cocktails and we had a very attentive staff. Dessert was fantastic, I recommend the chocolate mousse!
