The Victoria Inn
Food is served all day everyday & we are a local hot spot for delicious, traditional Sunday lunch. Our home cooked food menu offers a plethora of fresh, home cooked choices and childrens portions are available. Our extensive drinks list features many branded, craft and boutique products from the local area and further afield.
The pub had run out of most Sunday roasts by 6pm and most side dishes. We had to ask for our drinks twice each round. Lunch a few weeks earlier had been great (better service and full choice) although it was very busy so this experience was rather a disappointment. I wouldn’t go there for an early supper again on a Sunday.
We had Sunday dinner at around 6pm which was really nice. Only problem at that time was that they had a run out of a few dishes due to be very busy earlier. They also had a live singer which added a nice touch. We will be back.
This was for a farewell dinner for my wife's granddaughter, flying back to California the next day. I was struck by the easy popularity of the Victoria Inn, split between a crowded, animated pub, next to a spacious restaurant, inevitably quite noisy, but relaxed, even homely. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient, and the food both ample, nicely presented, and chosen from a menu offering a wide choice. And a bonus was the availability of the 'Peckham Peculiar'. This is a hostelry that is very much local to Peckham, and its new-found prestige.
The staff were brilliant, really welcoming and accommodating. We were there for lunch and to watch the rugby and were perfectly positioned in the bar for both. Food was great, as was the wine. A really nice local pub.
We had a really lovely Sunday lunch at The Victoria Inn. It’s a beautiful place and the staff were really friendly. The food was great - the only exception being the side of cauliflower cheese that my friend ordered: it seemed to not have any cheese in it at all (although we assume this is because she ordered the vegan roast and the kitchen must have adapted the dish based on this, which, if she were vegan would have actually been really accommodating.) I had a dessert from the special Burns night menu - mars bar doughnuts with Whiskey ice cream - which was unbelievable and I wish it was a permanent dish on the menu. Overall, really lovely.
Friendly and efficient service and my fish and chips was delicious- as was the apple and pear crumble. Good value too for London. Would recommend.
Victoria Inn has a nice atmosphere, but I didn't think their roast was that amazing considering the price. The potatoes weren't crispy and overall there was nothing special about the meal. Perhaps their regular menu choices are better. But it is a lovely pub and the food was by no means bad, just not that amazing considering you pay £16 for the roast.
We really enjoyed lunch in the pub and have been many times before. The food is great and service always quick and staff are really helpful. The back dining area is often very loud, so would recommend sitting in the bar if you are a smaller group.
Surprisingly quiet as it's usually buzzing in here, but it was just post Christmas. Friendly, efficient service and delicious food, with generous portions.
Great Sunday lunch, with friendly staff and cosy atmosphere.
Lovely pub, buzzing, with delicious food. Only criticism is the wine is a bit pricey for a basic brand.
Lovely food and drinks, the staff were super useful - even if they'd been experiencing toilet flooding!
Great food. Great service. Lovely ambience and lighting. My favourite local pub. Thankyou!
Lovely cosy ambiance and great food. Wine a wee bit pricey but good overall value. Great service. I’d go again.
We’ve been to eat here before but not on a Sunday. Very busy!
Roast dinners were still piping hot and delicious. Would definitely return.
Unfortunately this was a disappointment but not because of the food. I'd been led to believe that this pub had lunchtime jazz on Sundays, only to find that they never had. Otherwise it was OK. Atmosphere was fine and the food average for a Sunday pub lunch, though portions were a bit smaller than other pubs I've been to for Sunday lunch. OK if you are in the area, but not worth traveling from Clapham and Balham to go to.
Lovely Sunday lunch and drinks in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Came in for Sunday lunch for our mum’s birthday. The staff were so friendly and our table was ready early.
Fantastic service and lovely food... staff even brought out a slice of sticky toffee pudding with a candle in for mum (which was absolutely delicious!!)
After finishing our meal we weren't rushed out even though it was really busy!! Great atmosphere and is family and dog friendly.
I would definitely eat here again!
Second time going for the steak and wine night and it was perfect yet again. Can’t rate this highly enough! Recommend to anyone!
Good pub food and nice staff. With a large party when we visited it was difficult to talk without shouting so difficult to assess the normal ambience
Best service ever
I booked this table for my husband as part of his birthday celebrations, and he went with a friend - I was out somewhere else. So this is from him: "Amazing food and the best service ever ever ever. They were so lovely about my birthday and it felt like they really cared. They even gave me a birthday card!"
A brilliant Father’s Day meal served by lovely friendly people
Fantastic Sunday lunch with incredibly speedy service!
Nice friendly welcome. The roast potatoes were a bit hard but otherwise the food was good. The rhubarb and ginger trifle is amazing!
Tasty roast, bit of a wait. Friendly staff throughout
Staff seem to have changed completely - we are regulars and didn’t recognise besides one of the chef’s. Rude service, directed to three different tables before ultimately leaving due to fruit flies dominating the corner area we were allocated. Will go back for a beer only.
Nice people, decent roast, very good beef and lots of it. Two roast potatoes on a Sunday roast is a but stingy.
Lovely Beef Wellington, good atmosphere, friendly service and not too noisy!
Dined on Mothering Sunday for a Roast Dinner and have to say the quality of the food was very good despite it being super busy and later on in the day! Staff were on great form too.
A beautiful, classic pub with a combination of young and old drinkers and diners, an enthusiastic staff and beautiful rooms upstairs.
Great roast lunch could have been a bit hotter but vey delicious
Lovely local gem. Really nice friendly staff, quick service, interesting wines, GREAT chips!
Some dishes where good, but the pie was inedible
Really good sunday lunch - very generous portion sizes. Good beer selection as well...
Food delicious best roast in Peckham.. staff super friendly! Highly recommended
It's a pity that one cannot rely on the food being the same as on a previous occasion, depending on which chef is on duty. In Dec I had a fantastic meal there choosing the pork belly roast which was a lovely cut of pork belly with crackling. Then in Jan I again chose the pork belly but this time it was a rolled joint and not nearly as good. This time I played safe and chose the chicken roast which was very good. However, one of my group chose the pork belly and it was still the rolled joint. I am glad I changed! The service was very good.
Fantastic choice of Sunday roast. Been here a few times now & I can highly recommend it. Good atmosphere, staff are very polite and attentive. Early days but, looking to book for Christmas day!
The food was lovely, even if a little on the large side. We had great service to start with but had a shift change and we weren’t followed up.
Once we got our bill, it was wrong and had drinks missed off, we were told they should have been paid fir at the bar but when we arrived the barman/waiter said he’d bring drinks over so expected them on the bill. It was all sorted in the end. A hand over would have worked well, if the original waiter had said to us he was finishing.
But all in all a great experience.
Great food, friendly service. They brought a cake out for my son’s birthday without question, checked up on us regularly and everybody was very happy with their food.
I used to live near the Victoria and me and my friends came for a reunion and a Sunday lunch. The beef roast was more expensive than most(£17.50) and the meat was almost all fat. You can get such good roasts in London now that there’s no excuse to be serving that kind of meat. I was charged £4.30 for two lime and soda (£2.15 for a shot of lime cordial??) and once we’d ordered our pudding it took 25 minutes to arrive. So sad it’s gone downhill!
