Efficient and friendly staff make such a difference. The checkin was smooth and the restrictions were carefully explained, the waiter (JOSH) was friendly and efficient, as was the charming young woman who did the bill. I didn't catch her name but she was very nice about the whole thing.
In these weird times, it makes an incredible difference to the experience if everyone is calm, and this visit was exemplary.
The food was excellent, but I thought the drinks were on the expensive side.
Hi Matthew, We're ever so glad you had such a great time when you visited recently and I'll be sure to pass on your gratitude to Josh and the other team members who served you. Positive reviews mean a lot to us and really make our job worthwhile so thank you truly for the kind words! Kind Regards, Joe General Manager
The Victoria Inn is a really friendly, local pub. It has a wide range of drinks. The staff are friendly and helpful. The music wasn't too loud so that I was able to chat with my friend without having to raise my voice. I didn't have any food (please see below) but what I could see and smell, I'm guessing that the plates are returned to the kitchen empty!
I only gave 1 star for food. I only went to The Victoria Inn for a drink, but unfortunately, Opentable's starring review system doesn't give an option if one doesn't have food at a pub, so I had to star food that I didn't have in order to go onto the next bit of the review process. (Hint, hint OpenTable!)
Slow service, a confused ordering system with an incomplete physical menu, and a differently incomplete online app menu with no cocktails or draught beers on. Then having to request drinks and not knowing the price of them. Slow somewhat thoughtless service, and dessert ordered from the online menu different to what I was actually given. Also a very very very greasy burger. For what it sells itself as, the actual experience was underwhelming.
Rebecca was our waitress and she was very attentive, fun and helpful. Very pleased indeed.
Booking process super easy, table was ready/disinfected when we arrived, our waitress was lovely and we got a delicious fish & chips + pint! Felt like a real treat.
Very friendly and professional staff, service was very good, and all staff wearing visors which were reassuring. Good spacing of tables.
Loved our starters Burrata and a Chicken and Ham Terrine. Loved the Sea Bass Main but the Treacle T.Bone left a lot to be desired, hence marking down.
We shared a dessert of strawberries and clotted cream which was delicious.
Have been several times before and have always had a great time and fab food. The only problem seems to be when ordering steak (never had a great one)
Tables were very well spread out so we had a lot of space without feeling too quiet. Food was very yummy and service was great!
It was wonderful to enjoy a Sunday lunch at our brilliant local once more after lockdown. Strigent hygiene and distancing measures are in place to reassure customers, but the welcome is as warm as ever. The Sunday Roast is fabulous - I had the tender and melting roast beef, accompanied by huge roasties, fluffy Yorkshire and perfect veg. The OH said his pork belly was delicious. He couldn't manage a pud, but I had the Strawberry & Clotted Cream Parfait, which was accompanied by strawberries and the lightest shortbread ever, and is one of the nicest things I've eaten this year.
Outstanding service! Particularly by a young gentleman from (Northern?) Ireland. Great food. Very relaxed setting. I’ll be back for sure.
Wonderful service, the staff were super kind and helpful. Draught cider was delicious and well priced, wine was a tad expensive. Had fish & chips - the chips were delicious, the fish however did lack flavour. Would definitely return for a drink👍
Great service and incredible food. The staff was very well prepared to receive us and they were great at adhering to the social distancing measures implemented. Very impressed!
Great pub with fast efficient service and good selection of beers.
Really lovely pub, friendly staff and good choices!
Food outstanding , highly recommend the squid/ whitebait starter, Charter pie and steak. Think management have done a very good job reopening.
My only criticism is person who served us, though lovely, was very forgetful, had to keep asking him for things we’d ordered. Might just be new at job. But other staff helpful and friendly too.
I was surprised by how good the food was, I ordered the fish and chips which was cooked to perfection. Will definitely return. Good pub grub.
Good pub - food good and decent range of drinks.
Fantastic pub/restaurant, even given the limitations of the COVID restrictions. Staff were fantastic, and very conscientious. The food was delicious, and portions are extremely generous.
I have been pre-pandemic, and all though a lesser general background noise now, the ambience remains good.
I hope that someday in the future, the Victoria can get back to operating as it did pre-pandemic, so people can fully enjoy everything it has to offer!
Our server was so so lovely! I don't know her name unfortunately but she had an Australian accent. So sweet and attentive and just a lovely lady.
I have to admit, both myself and my guest weren't too keen on the food overall. It really is a fantastic menu but we both mentioned that it was slightly bland in taste.
Still - a great pub and we had a lovely time so thank you team!
We had 1No belly pork and it was all fat. It was replaced but the fellow guests had finished by then. We asked for a drink but the wrong drink was delivered, mixed incorrectly. We had 1No Chicken pie, we were told there were only 2No left at 1.00pm, we suspect they were left over from the day before, as it was difficult to cut through the pastry. I like the pub but in this visit the food was not great and consequently not such good value for money. The starters were very nice.
A great lunch- we sat outside. I had the steak sandwich and my friend has the vegan burger. We agreed both were delicious! Service was excellent and staff were attentive. Would come here again.
Love coming to this pub had been a favourite of mine staff very friendly and good drinks and food plus they are very good with the new Covid 19 rules
The pub had run out of most Sunday roasts by 6pm and most side dishes. We had to ask for our drinks twice each round. Lunch a few weeks earlier had been great (better service and full choice) although it was very busy so this experience was rather a disappointment. I wouldn’t go there for an early supper again on a Sunday.
We had Sunday dinner at around 6pm which was really nice. Only problem at that time was that they had a run out of a few dishes due to be very busy earlier. They also had a live singer which added a nice touch. We will be back.
This was for a farewell dinner for my wife's granddaughter, flying back to California the next day. I was struck by the easy popularity of the Victoria Inn, split between a crowded, animated pub, next to a spacious restaurant, inevitably quite noisy, but relaxed, even homely. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient, and the food both ample, nicely presented, and chosen from a menu offering a wide choice. And a bonus was the availability of the 'Peckham Peculiar'. This is a hostelry that is very much local to Peckham, and its new-found prestige.
The staff were brilliant, really welcoming and accommodating. We were there for lunch and to watch the rugby and were perfectly positioned in the bar for both. Food was great, as was the wine. A really nice local pub.
We had a really lovely Sunday lunch at The Victoria Inn. It’s a beautiful place and the staff were really friendly. The food was great - the only exception being the side of cauliflower cheese that my friend ordered: it seemed to not have any cheese in it at all (although we assume this is because she ordered the vegan roast and the kitchen must have adapted the dish based on this, which, if she were vegan would have actually been really accommodating.) I had a dessert from the special Burns night menu - mars bar doughnuts with Whiskey ice cream - which was unbelievable and I wish it was a permanent dish on the menu. Overall, really lovely.
Friendly and efficient service and my fish and chips was delicious- as was the apple and pear crumble. Good value too for London. Would recommend.
Victoria Inn has a nice atmosphere, but I didn't think their roast was that amazing considering the price. The potatoes weren't crispy and overall there was nothing special about the meal. Perhaps their regular menu choices are better. But it is a lovely pub and the food was by no means bad, just not that amazing considering you pay £16 for the roast.
We really enjoyed lunch in the pub and have been many times before. The food is great and service always quick and staff are really helpful. The back dining area is often very loud, so would recommend sitting in the bar if you are a smaller group.
Surprisingly quiet as it's usually buzzing in here, but it was just post Christmas. Friendly, efficient service and delicious food, with generous portions.
Great Sunday lunch, with friendly staff and cosy atmosphere.
Lovely pub, buzzing, with delicious food. Only criticism is the wine is a bit pricey for a basic brand.
Lovely food and drinks, the staff were super useful - even if they'd been experiencing toilet flooding!
Great food. Great service. Lovely ambience and lighting. My favourite local pub. Thankyou!
Lovely cosy ambiance and great food. Wine a wee bit pricey but good overall value. Great service. I’d go again.
We’ve been to eat here before but not on a Sunday. Very busy!
Roast dinners were still piping hot and delicious. Would definitely return.
Unfortunately this was a disappointment but not because of the food. I'd been led to believe that this pub had lunchtime jazz on Sundays, only to find that they never had. Otherwise it was OK. Atmosphere was fine and the food average for a Sunday pub lunch, though portions were a bit smaller than other pubs I've been to for Sunday lunch. OK if you are in the area, but not worth traveling from Clapham and Balham to go to.
Lovely Sunday lunch and drinks in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Came in for Sunday lunch for our mum’s birthday. The staff were so friendly and our table was ready early.
Fantastic service and lovely food... staff even brought out a slice of sticky toffee pudding with a candle in for mum (which was absolutely delicious!!)
After finishing our meal we weren't rushed out even though it was really busy!! Great atmosphere and is family and dog friendly.
I would definitely eat here again!
Second time going for the steak and wine night and it was perfect yet again. Can’t rate this highly enough! Recommend to anyone!
