A nice safe lunch and we were only sorry our next booking had to be cancelled after tier 4 restrictions.
Great atmosphere, tasty food, staff very polite and friendly. Definitely will return
Lovely new pub. Delicious food and lovely, helpful staff.
Good range of food and drinks in a convivial atmosphere. Restoration carried out very sympathetically and in a quality way. A major improvement over previous and the facility Woodham deserves.
Well worth a visit.
Welcome to Woodham!
Excellent food in the newly refurbished Victoria - a great imporvement!
Lovely refurbishment of the venue, great decor, great food & lovely atmosphere.
Enjoyed our first visit to Victoria very much! All safety measures there and very friendly staff. Loved food and will be back again, if we can!
Lack of choice for vegetarians, the fish with pasta dish was mediocre but burger good although the presentation of this was very poor.
Restaurant lacked Christmas spirit, no decorations anywhere, apparently there was a Christmas tree at the entrance and no festive menu either. Such a shame but the staff were very attentive.
Tasty food. Friendly efficient service. Good to have a lovely local pub.
Our first visit on Sunday and we'll be back. Staff were lovely and friendly and the food was lovely.
The newly reopened Victoria was better than I imagined. The food was excellent, they market as pub grub favorites cooked well, and I think they more than surpassed that. All of our meals were first class. Great value and superb service.
The refurbishment has made the pub very warm and welcoming. There is a good selection of beers and the food was very nice indeed. One of the nicest pub Sunday roasts I have had in a long time to be honest. The staff were friendly and the service was faultless.
Sunday roast was lovely and plenty of it. The pub has been renovated to a high standard. For Covid I think we where too close to the other tables. The drinks are expensive. Would highly recommend
Amazing food, beautiful refurbishment and great service. We’ll be back very soon!
excellent food and service, great atmosphere too. lovely looking cosy pub
Bit too packed, it needed more social distancing.
Food was good with plenty of choice, staff attentive and helpful. I was a bit surprised about their inability to supply vinegar for my chips!
I’ll be back
Food tasted nice on the night but weve both had really upset stomachs since eating there (can’t decide if this is the food or the lager) The acoustics are also on the echoey side - it was like eating in a school canteen. I’ve seen raving reviews on Facebook which is why we decided to try so I know this hasn’t been everyone’s experience.
Very pleasant staff.Place very clean.F ood excellent.
Would recommend a visit
Very friendly staff, very attentive. Food was excellent, highly recommended!
Had such an enjoyable lunch at the Victoria pub in Woodham last Friday. The pub is unrecognisable both inside and outside - decor looks amazing, interior has been completely renovated with plenty of space between tables. John and his very attentive staff looked after us very well. The food was excellent, arrived promptly with fantastic selection of ales / beers and wine available. We are delighted we finally have a quality local pub in Woodham which is also both family and dog friendly.
Our first visit to The Victoria in a few years. It is much more welcoming, the staff were very friendly. Menu was varied and met our needs.
All Covid safe with distance between tables.
Was lovely good level background noise. Food was really good.
Just what Woodham has been asking for a great pub with great food and all walking distance from home. Very glad it is here. Will be going back
The refurbishment is wonderful. Inside is cosy for a large pub and the garden areas are well thought out and planted lovely.
Great staff and service and the food is well priced, filling and tasty.
Enjoyed an intimate birthday meal for two.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Friendly, helpful staff. Great quality food and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.
Outstanding food, very friendly and welcoming staff. Will Definitely come back! Highly recommend
So my review scores are rather low for a couple of reasons (see listed below)
1) the sharing platter is definitely not a ‘sharing platter’ as we all know and love. It is quite underwhelming with quite a high price tag. Maybe items and way it is served needs to be reviewed.
2) service was awful - our one server didn’t know his left hand from his right. I appreciate maybe this is his first time doing it but he made several mistakes;
- walked away before my husband had ordered his main as he obviously wasn’t listening
- asked us if we wanted the dessert menu whilst clearing our starters away
- took payment at the end of the meal without checking the actual receipt. If we weren’t ‘honest people’ we would have walked away with our whole meal free as the receipt said ‘void’ at bottom.
- took my husbands card and only returned when we ask for it at bar
- he didn’t send away for our mains when he cleared which lead to a wait of around 60 minutes between courses. Now we like a break but that was rather long.
Overall for a meal that cost over £90 for a date night, we would expect more. Hopefully these are just teething errors and will be rectified as looking around and hearing other tables we were not the only ones with payment and service issues.
I have selected no for recommending as I will only recommend something I loved. As I said, hopefully over time all the things above will be rectified/erased.
Enjoyed our meal in the newly opened Victoria very welcoming
Amazing food all evening, and the pub refurb has been done very tastefully, perfect lighting and ambience - a beautiful place to spend for an evening meal.
I had the bubble and squeak followed by the steak and kidney pudding 'pie' of the day - both were very tasty and well presented.
The pub was very busy when I went (a good sign!) so the staff were rushed off their feet, but aside from briefly forgetting my second glass of wine, I thought they coped very well with the demand and service was always with a smile.
The area has been crying out for a decent gastro pub for years, but I didn't expect it would be as good as this - so glad to have this place and the team that run it in the village.
Will be returning as soon as possible (if I can get a booking)!
Overall experience was good. My only comment was that my food was not very hot not so my partners!
We ate at lunch time and it was fairly busy mainly with couples.
The pub is nicely renovated and has a pleasant atmosphere.
Food was excellent and good portions.
The piece of fish with the fish and chips was large and very fresh.
My husband said his bangers and mash was the best he has ever had!
Very pleasant and friendly staff.
Will return and looking forward to using the garden again in the summer.
We thought the renovation has been done so well. Modernist but in keeping with a Victorian pub. Had lunch, in the first week of the reopening after refurb. Had the sharing platter which was delicious and enough for the two of us. The soup and sandwiches combo looked good value as well. Staff friendly and service excellent. We will certainly go again.
Had great lunch. Delicious food nice staff and lovely fire.
Great newly refurbished pub. Good food and drinks. Outside section looking well done up, can’t wait for summer.
Wonderful to have a brilliant eatery locally with a good setting. Hope it stays this way.
Great food ,customer service and and decor....Been twice in the last week loved it both times .
A really great addition to the neighbourhood. The pub has been fully refurbished and it looks fantastic, really high quality. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly. I'll certainly be back soon.
Considering social distancing our table for 2 seemed squashed in between 2 x tables of 4. When 2 of the other people were seated they were literally a foot away. Order taken quickly and friendly yet main course came 1 hour 15 mins later! Were offered free drink but the first night out since lockdown was very disappointing.
Fab food great service lovely open fire
Nice atmosphere
We trialled the sunday roast. It was really well presented and beautifully cooked!
Fantastic to see the Victoria so vibrant. Delicious food and well presented. We were looked after by a friendly and helpful waitress. The decor is welcoming and spotlessly clean.
We were surprised at how close some of the tables were to each other and no windows were open so we asked to move to a better ventilated area.
Slow service and overcooked food on a few dishes including expensive mains.
