We always enjoy our meals at The View at Battery Park. As per the apt name, it has a great view of the New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, including from the indoor seating.
One quirk to watch out for is that they’ve stopped accepting Apple/Goldman Sachs Mastercards because they have not figured out how to get their machines to allow tips on them. This is the only restaurant I know of (and we’ve been to many) that has not been able to figure out how to solve this problem.
View of the water from outside seating. Breeze was blocked. A bit noisy. Food and drinks were good. Ambience was good. Took a few minutes to be seated. Service was good.
We had a great experience at The View, having had a wonderful brunch. The servers and all the staff members are courteous and friendly. The cocktails are great. The brunch menu could be a little bit more extensive, but it was delicious. We had ordered the burrata scramble, the everything bagel and the grilled lemon flatbread with a mimosa. Definitely recommend these dishes. They did mention that the dinner menu is more extensive, so I do plan to be back to try that! The view is the best part of it - the backdrop of the Statue of Liberty and the sea breeze is unparalleled.
Beautiful setting. Large windows allow wonderful views of the harbor, the park, etc which makes the setting unique. It is within an easy walk of the 1, R, W, 4 and 5 trains as well as the SI Ferry. A bit pricey but you are paying for the setting as well as food.
The food is reasonably flavorful.
We paid $85 per person thinking will have a full view of Macy’s fireworks for the 4th of July, as advertised.
It was a huge disappointment unfortunately. The fireworks was on the on the East Side.
Service was great and the food was too! Really creative drinks !
Very pleased to see their service was as excellent as before the shutdowns. Our server was absolutely top notch and very accommodating. The view is one of the 5 best in the city. The ability to step outside and go for a stroll after dinner and enjoy the Battery after a social occation is unmatched.
The food was very good and reasonably priced with wonderful views.
The view is amazing, but the food only adequate and the service a little shady.
We ordered the raw seafood platter - on the menu for $55. We were told that it included clams, oysters, shrimp and lobster claws. In actuality, we were served small pieces of shredded lobster that had no taste (and did not come with melted butter) and the rest of the items were only marginally better.
When the bill came, we were charged $65 for the seafood platter. The waiter told us he'd been working there for 3 months and no one had ever noticed. He corrected the bill, but BUYER BEWARE - review your bill as the restaurant systemically overcharges.
We chose this based on reviews and are glad we did! The food was delicious (and reasonable!) and the service was great. We had Alex as our server. We were seated overlooking the water and it was pleasant. Definitely recommend.
Venue was beautiful!! Tables were spread out from each other and great for covid conscious guests. We were seated right away even before our whole party was present. However our waitress was aggressive and kept telling us how swamped she was. Food took a long time and meals came out one at a time.
Really long delay for food though the place was nowhere near full capacity due to Covid. 45 minutes to get our entrees then our appetizers came out afterwards. Nice waiter comped us a round of drinks for the inconvenience. Lovely water views from the patio. Price is cheap for NYC but portions are small as well, but the food was great! But missed our ferry home due to the delay getting our food and had to wait 3 hours for the next one due to Sunday schedule.☹️
My girlfriend and I came here for dinner and had the best experience. The tables are nicely spaced out and all of the wait staff wore masks. The view was incredible at sunset and there was a wedding there that night, so we even got to eat to some live music! The food was AMAZING - we ordered the steamers and the squid ink pasta and were truly blown away. Prices are reasonable and the setting simply can not be beat. Do not miss out on this place!
Very nice location, open to the water. Not many people know about it probably as there were a lot of tables available, whereas other locations are booke for weeks in advance !
Very rude staff
Brought out wrong meals
Check was wrong
The food was very good. Great ambiance and great location.
If you go anywhere else downtown, you need to talk to your therapist about why you make bad decisions.
CeCe is an amazing server. Will request her next time we come!
Food is an unexcepted yummy, fabulous environment.
Loved everything about this restaurant… A must do
Overall, everything was great
Beautiful view & good foods. What else you need more!
We enjoyed dining outdoors with our toddler and friends from out of town. The food was delicious and the location can't be beat. Will return.
The view has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants. My friend and I go every Friday before the Sunset Singing Circle in Wagner Park. The food is excellent, the staff extraordinarily friendly, and as the name implies, the view is breathtaking. While he weather is good enjoy the outdoor dining. You'll need a reservation.
We've been waiting for them to open all winter! Last year they only had outdoor dining for the most part, but that was fine by us. When the weather's nice, there's no place better to enjoy the view and the food. The manager and the staff are superb -- warm, friendly, helpful and all-around great people.
I'm sort of hesitant to give it such a rave review, because I don't want the whole world to start stampeding to the place, but after the year they and all the NYC restaurants have had, they deserve to have as many customers as they can accommodate. I wish them nothing but success, and can't wait to go back again. Soon. Very soon.
Relaxed, comfortable outside dining, with beautiful views, and just footsteps from the Liberty/Ellis Island ferry line.
From the moment we got there the staff was incredible. We were supposed to sit outside but the weather was terrible. My husband refused to sit inside, so they made us a seating arrangement under the buildings covering by the entrance. We had two heaters and were very comfortable. The management and staff were so patient and understanding. The food was delicious and the menu has something for everyone. The view is worth going alone, but the excellent staff and food is the reason to go back.
Nice ambience and good food. It was a nice memory for mothers day.
The outdoors ambiance is the driving force behind this restaurant and makes it well worth the price (especially now, while we're still in the pandemic). Food was ok, but high quality. Service was very good.
Delicious food, creative and tasty cocktails. Pleasant ambience and great view. Best was the staff. Michael general manager and waiter Brian were so attentive.
Birthday celebration...they were very accommodating
Happy the "old Battery Gardens" is still open, for the view. The service was very kind and attentive, even replacing a glass of wine when an errant bug wandered into it. The food is sad wedding food but you're not going there for the food! Still recommend for a drink and feeling like you're on vacation.
Unbelievable food and service with amazing views! Casual yet perfect for what we were looking for!
Overall a wonderful experience! The staff was very attentive and kind just a few very minor, what I'm sure were first-day hiccups. Unsurprisingly, the view was amazing! Some umbrellas would be nice for shade but hey, can't complain about a sunny day! The french toast was delicious and filling but wish the menu had stipulated there were raisins. My drink, the pom in the park, was delicious as well. Price was particularly good for a Manhattan brunch! Will be coming back for sure.
The food, view and service were perfect. The restaurant itself is a bit dated in its decor, so you might expect tired service or mediocre food, but you'd be wrong. The preserved lemon flatbread was perfect! And the mahi tuna tacos were seasoned deliciously. I look forward to trying other menu items. Dining on that patio at sunset is unbelievable. Will definitely be back many times this summer!
Fantastic weekend brunch spot. Great food, drinks, service, and view. One of our favorites.
The View unfortunately lost their tent in a windstorm and had already put their patio umbrellas in storage for the season. So on our last few sunny days in the mid-70’s it won’t be so pleasant on the patio.
The upside of losing the tent is that the view from the inside seating area is nicer, and the inside seating area is very well appointed and comfortable and appropriately spaced.
Great outdoor brunch with friends. Good food and great service. Will come back for sure!
