The Village Inn
A wide range of food and drink is served catering for most occasions, ranging from traditional pub food to a-la-carte dining. We are also open for drinks all day every day. We always serve a range of well kept real ales and unlike many pubs provide space in the Bar for those who are not eating to enjoy a drink by one of our log fires (Winter only!) Families are welcome and many come to enjoy our enclosed, South-facing, flint-walled Garden which has seating for up to two hundred.
Although the pub looked lovely from the outside, inside was rather disappointing. Not much atmosphere and cold. The food was average and the menu limited. And overpriced!
We couldn’t fault the food, it was lovely and good value.
The service was a let down for the village inn. When I looked at the web site it said well behaved dogs welcome, when we arrived we were told we didn’t write in the comments box we had a dog!!! I felt I did something wrong and felt the need to apologise??
As we had booked a table we didn’t expect to be told there was a forty minute wait for food. there were two staff serving at the bar when they weren’t clearing tables.
The line for the bar was 8 deep mostly. After lunch we got up to wait at the bar again for desert, after a fifteen minute wait the bar staff said there were no deserts today as they had been busy!! Why they didn’t tell us when giving us the menu or when we ordered our mains I do not know!
We sat at our dirty table until we left, no one asked if everything was ok and no body cleared our table after we ate!
Sorry village inn we won’t be back!
Love this place! Returning for Mother's Day with the whole family.
We came with friends for Sunday lunch. There is a nice relaxed feel to the place. Those who chose the roast dinners said it was delicious and particularly commented on the freshness and variety of vegetables. As a non meat eater, I would have liked just a couple more vegetarian/fish choices on the menu. Service is good and our meals came quite quickly. Only one complaint - the cost of a glass of wine at £8! Would definitely come again for a no-frills, good meal.
Really enjoyed our roast pork sunday lunch. Great food and real value for money. Will book again soon.
Family of 5 went for a birthday dinner. The food was lovely, generous portions of roast, including the child’s portions. All cooked perfectly and very reasonable price.
Reasonable typical pub food at average price. Only us two and 3 other diners at 7.30 on a Friday night says it all.
Great pub. Great food. Will keep coming back. We live 30 miles from the pub. Love it.
Was very disappointed although the food was ok the service was rushed or poor and very overpriced for what it was. I would not recommend to anyone or probably go back. Such as shame as it used to be lovely there
Always enjoy our meals here. The service and dinner was as good as ever.
Very nice quiet pub and good service. Food was disappointing, especially desert, had a rubarb crumble, which consisted of crumble on top with water underneath and couple of chunks of rubarb. But mostly water
The Village Inn is a lovely pub with lovely staff. The food was ok but could have been so much better.
Very good Sunday lunch will be back good value for money excellent.
Lovely little pub, amazing food. Definitely recommend.
Good pub grub and a few interesting homemade specials. Recommend the grilled crab with garlic butter.
